Great Reaction once again. We never really see all of the behind the scenes heartache and failure great musicians go through, we just get to enjoy the beauty that comes from all that work.
Great reaction, Mr. And Mrs. Coach……and NO, there is not a better bass/guitar combo in the world. In fact, there is NOT a better Bass/lead guitar/drum/rhythm guitar/ vocal combo in the world TODAY or in any other day. Quite simply, the best Rock Band this planet has ever seen! Who’s better…..I grew up with Van Halen, Rush, etc…and none have the consistent quality of music over time than these 5 beautiful maids from Japan. And the variety of the songs (rock, metal, acoustic, etc) are UNMATCHED! They are legendary status where there were only KINGS of Rock and Roll, Thank God we now have some QUEENS of Rock.
This band has indeed been a product of hard work. They've ground out over 400 live shows in their 10 years. 8 years counting the pandemic. In their early years, they'd play before tiny crowds of a couple dozen in the audience. There's video of them packing up their equipment after a show. They have stories of them driving themselves gig to gig in a van. They came up the hard way, and we have the benefit of seeing the product of their hard work.
This song became the signature song for their last tour. I was lucky enough to see them do this in a tiny venue in Sacramento, standing just feet from MISA. It was hot, crowded, and just perfect. They lit the place up.

Hate? was song #27 of 33 (3.5 hrs). That is the incredible thing about them. Being able to keep that energy up for that long, they are World class athletes in my book (especially Akane and this was shortly after her solo into Blackhole (220bpm)), Po! I was there and I was getting tired standing and jumping for that time, even with adrenaline pumping (and I'm 62y/o, for God sake!). They really love their fans, Po! 🦍🍌
What Mrs. Coach said was more accurate than she probably realized. BAND-MAID rose from stalled solo careers and from the ashes of Miku’s previous idol trio Lil Cumin, and LOVEBITES rose from the ashes of failed bands and solo careers that weren’t going anywhere. Never give up!
Thanks for the reaction and comments. It's the ultimate F*Off song. These ladies are FIRE!!!!! They exude pure energy and joy. We Maidiacs have exhausted all known superlatives to describe them a long time ago. They're without a doubt ICHIBAN among all touring rock bands today. Cheers!

Mrs Coach is 100% correct. They fought to write and record their original music. They worked and toiled to build a fan base. They played clubs and venues in Europe that you couldn't cuss a cat without getting hair in your mouth while there. They are a perfect group, not the very best players arguably but world class for sure! You may outplay them and you may out sing them but by gawd, you'll never out work them. "How would you rank those 2 in the realm of guitar players ?" - For me really high. I'm 58 and Misa is literally my favorite bassist of all time with Fami of Lovebites and Chopper Koga of Gacharic Spin right on her heels. Mincho is simply a genius considering she is the composer of all Band-Maid music. Musicians today are better than what I grew up on but if fairness musicians today are standing on the shoulders of those giants.
I totally agree. But if Mincho were ever to adopt the "duck walk" like Angus Young and Chuck Berry, she would be, hands-down, the best guitarist of all time.

Hi Coach, thanks a lot for your reaction. Apart from Bandmaid, I would also recdmmend you to check out Gacharic Spin as well. It is an all-female funk/progressive rock band, and their live performances are truly awesome and fun to watch. Hope you enjoy!
@@CoachCastTV I enthusiastically 2nd the Gacharic Spin recommendation. My discovery of Band-Maid in late 2019 led me to many other Japanese bands. If I was to list a top 10 of the Japanese bands that I enjoy the most, half would be all-female bands - Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Gacharic Spin and Hanabie. The best place to start with Gacharic Spin is their music video for the song MindSet which I consider one of the best songs released in 2021, and not just in Japan. Oh Coach! You must see them live on the next US tour. I saw them in '22 and '23, and all I can think of is when can I see them again. Many others say, best rock band on the planet today, I agree. They actually saved my love of music.
I saw Band-Maid at the House of Blues in Dallas in October, 2022. They performed a great 18 song set but Hate? wasn't one of the songs. They live debut of Hate? was less than a week later in NYC. I am curious whether they did the long dual at the NYC show or if it evolved later (the dual on the studio version is much shorter). I know they did it at Lollapalooza last year and it was equally amazing. Band-Maid was a really good live band when I saw them, but they have improved so much since then and probably haven't stopped.
This song is controlled chaos! Saiki said she could feel that Kanami was pi**ed off when she wrote this song so she supplied appropriate lyrics for that mood. Kanami spoke up later that she was not mad at all. I do believe that because I don't think Kanami has a mean side to her. Aggressive - yes. Mean - no.
I think that it's true that during Covid Kanami made the band members and herself practice more in order to be able to play some of the songs on the Unseen World album that was released in 2021. This means that she composed the songs in her head knowing that they would not be able to play them without improving their skill levels.
JAPAN AND THE NORDIC COUNTRIES KEEPING ROCK AND METAL ALIVE WHILE AMERICAN MUSIC EXECS PUSH THEIR MUSIC.THE WORLD ROCK/METAL PEOPLE WILL HAVE FREE MUSIC EXPRESSION. 🤘🤘🤘
You both MUST see them live !! For fun you should watch one of the sequences where Miku and the others talk with the crowd. “Magic Time”. It’s special with Maidiacs❤

If you like dueling guitarists I would suggest Versailles - Faith and decision. They have probebly been the inspiration for bands like Band Maid and Lovebites. If nothing else they paved the way.
Love seeing the joy in your reactions! You have to love Band-Maid. Take a song about pure hate and still make it sound upbeat, positive and happy. Add in some brain melting solo conversations...and there you have it...Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things. And you have to agree with what @Davey-Boyd said....in his "Note to self", "Don't piss Saiki off." 🤣 PO!🕊 WORLD DOMINATION!!!🤘😄🤘

It's just Extraordinary Talent and very Highly Skilled Professionalism. This a huge concert for them, biggest audience in Japan ever!! They are more popular in the US and Europe than Japan. Big news is Band Maid and The Warning are having a joint concert in Japan. Hoping they will perform together on stage with songs jointly written. The Maidiacs are wishing for a joint in North America in the near future.

B-M was my introduction to this wonderful world of Japanese rock and metal (and now Korean rock since I started listening to Rolling Quartz). They’re still one of the most musically-interesting bands I listen to along with Gacharic Spin. I don’t know what to expect from either band except to expect greatness.
The song with the 'AC/DC' riff would be 'Puzzle (Official Live Video)'. After that, check out 'endless Story (Official Live Video)' which dropped about three weeks ago. I think Mrs. Coach will really enjoy that one. As far as musicianship, I think Band-Maid has as good a power trio (lead guitarist/bassist/drummer) as any rock band. EVER. Individually, do I think Kanami is as good as Eddie van Halen? Not quite. Is Akane as good as Neil Peart? No, but no one is. Misa, otoh, I don't know that there is a clearly better bassist than her. But all three in a single band? There's never been a clearly better trio. Vocals, lyrics, and composition are all going to be matters of personal taste, but as musicians they're among the all-time greats.
Akane doesn't have to be as good as Neil Peart to be my No.1 drummer..There is more to liking someone than just how well they play...which makes her better than Neil Peart to me...That goes for any musician.
While you may think you can't get more impressed with Band-Maid's abilities and their untiring dedication to perfecting their live performances, perhaps mentioning that this was the 27th song of the night might do it! Then they played another 6 after this - oh, and Akane performed a 3 minute drum solo in addition to the 33 song setlist. I've been watching the 3hr 40 min concert on DVD since it arrived last week (only turned it off to watch your reactions!) and, to answer Mrs Coach's question about where one would rank Band-Maid in the Great Rock Bands League, I'd say that if Rock was a mountain range, these ladies would be perched on top of Mount Everest. Probably on a big pedestal. I see you noticed the "10 minutes of limp gymnastics" and the "I hope you die out!" lines from Saiki, who wrote this song (usually Miku, the rhythm guitarist, writes the lyrics to their songs). There are differing legends growing around who it is about...a personal break-up, a fellow Japanese singer's break-up, a friend's break-up. Whatever the reason, it gave us an amazing call and response section again, though unlike in DON'T YOU TELL ME, here MISA makes the call on bass and Kanami answers on the guitar, not the other way around. Just before the DVD was released, they released a 4th song from this EPIC concert, the finale and show closer and a superb Rock anthem, ENDLESS STORY. Be warned though, there may be dust getting in your eyes or onion ninjas running about when you see it, as happened to me!
No apologies necessary, and YES you did hear Miku backing up Kanami and MISA. First playing octaves then mirroring Kanami's riff, where as Kanami went up the fretboards, Miku went down. And there is a saying that I am going to paraphrase, The Ladies of Band-Maid show the wannabes at the guitar store how it's really done. And done by five smiling polite Japanese Ladies.
God I love this band. Ever since you first showed me them I have been binging. So far nothing close to bad, just great music thoughout. The lives are even more insane than the recordings, which just blows my mind. Next time they are in Europe I will be there, have no doubt. Couldn't agree with you more Coach, this is just good music! As I am one to tend to do, throwing out some recommendations while I'm here: Band-Maid - Dice (M/V): th-cam.com/video/ZpAYnVJX9CY/w-d-xo.html Mamamoo - Um Oh Ah Yeh (M/V): th-cam.com/video/pFuJAIMQjHk/w-d-xo.html Babymetal - Divine Attack (Live): th-cam.com/video/INRPP78SvXs/w-d-xo.html Everglow - La Di Da (M/V): th-cam.com/video/jeI992mvlEY/w-d-xo.html Rolling Quartz - Fearless (Live): th-cam.com/video/ezczi7VMMNQ/w-d-xo.html
We appreciate your recommendations, and glad you are enjoying this band. It's hard not to binge, but guess that is a blessing of being busy with work and family obligations a lot.
What you just watched wasn't a bass vs guitar battle. It was an argument between the girl (guitar) and the guy (bass). They even mock each other, but the argument ends with the girl having the last word. Watch it again in this context and tell me I'm wrong😂
Since someone pointed out to me that it's surf rock I can't unhear it. Instead of "wipe out" by the Surfaris we've got "Fukashima tsunami meltdown" and they're smiling.
Saiki wrote the lyrics and was pretty pissed off about either one particular man or just men in general who cheat. Saik's lyrics seem tobe a lotmore direct than Miku's often poetic turn of phrase. Did you catch the ultimate male put down in the lyrics, striking right at make pride and ego - "10 minutes of limp gymnastics". Hold on maybe Saiki is being over generous with 10 minutes lol
Kanami wrote this song when she was angry. Saiki wrote the lyrics as opposed to Miku. A friend of Saiki's husband cheated on her during covid. Saiki wrote this to show what she thought of that husand. Now go watch it again and pay attention to the lyrics knowing that
You know the question mark in the title of the song? Yeah, you might want to ignore that.... doesn't look like any question mark to me there.... I heard that the question mark is an in-joke for people who speak Japanese, and I'm not feeling like a Japanese-speaking listener anytime soon. Bless the poor soul whom she's singing about... yeah....
the solo section in hate, it seems to be a man voice (misa's bass) and a woman voice (kanami's PRS) having a hate filled argument that repeats accusations between each other then gradually gets shorter and shorter where the couple are just swearing at each other then to the point where they are shouting over each other until finally the woman (kanami's guitar) is raging out a tirade of abuse. i dont know if its projection be that is what it seems to be to me
I’ve probably been waiting for your reaction to it for a month now. He is talented and I stand by my words. you can make a reaction to his SOS, Ikanaide, El Amor En Ti to one of them😭😭❤️
You mentioned Lovebites....Fun fact: 3 of the girls were there at that show to support Band Maid. Asami, Midori, Haruna were caught on fan cams etc. Not to mention their own posts to social media.
Just so you know, I will be taking credit for introducing you guys to this band and will hold it against you to my advantage!😂😂😂 I believe Saiki wrote this about a guy who cheated on her friend. Meaning don't mess with Saiki or even her friends! Endless Story from this same concert, next please! You think you couldn't love the Maids more than you already do. You are wrong!🤘👊🫶

Mean - no.
I love watching you guys react to bands from Japan. Keep it up ‼️
The song is called puzzles
So, the next song is 'Puzzle'? It's my favorite. Hope you like it.
I think that it's true that during Covid Kanami made the band members and herself practice more in order to be able to play some of the songs on the Unseen World album that was released in 2021. This means that she composed the songs in her head knowing that they would not be able to play them without improving their skill levels.
and some of the membets from Lovebites were at this concert also........lol
The BEST there is right now! WOW, Japan you rock.
I do believe coach that we've made you into a maidiac. Welcome aboard.
Absolutely!
There is a song that they prepared four years go to perform at this venue for the last time. 😢
I was waiting for this. Thank you and Mrs. Coach. Great review.

If you like dueling guitarists I would suggest Versailles - Faith and decision.
They have probebly been the inspiration for bands like Band Maid and Lovebites.
If nothing else they paved the way.
You guys gotta check out their songs: Dice & Bubble
This Is Such A Bass Song
Love seeing the joy in your reactions! You have to love Band-Maid. Take a song about pure hate and still make it sound upbeat, positive and happy. Add in some brain melting solo conversations...and there you have it...Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things. And you have to agree with what @Davey-Boyd said....in his "Note to self", "Don't piss Saiki off." 🤣 PO!🕊 WORLD DOMINATION!!!🤘😄🤘
Let me sum it up. Band-Maid is the best live rock band on the planet...maybe ever!
Good job!!
It's amazing how Band-Maid has rewritten the laws of nature: Hate brings Love! 😖--->🎀--->😍

(But you might already know all this.) Thx, Coach Cast!
We did not know all of that, only the part about The Warning. Thanks!
Would be a heck of a concert to see them both together.

B-M was my introduction to this wonderful world of Japanese rock and metal (and now Korean rock since I started listening to Rolling Quartz). They’re still one of the most musically-interesting bands I listen to along with Gacharic Spin. I don’t know what to expect from either band except to expect greatness.
Impressive
Thanks for the info on the AC/DC sounding song. 👍 Great comment...this band is special.
Akane doesn't have to be as good as Neil Peart to be my No.1 drummer..There is more to liking someone than just how well they play...which makes her better than Neil Peart to me...That goes for any musician.
@@CoachCastTV Be sure to have the CC on Endless Story
imo two the most AC sounding maid tracks are Freezer and Clang
Making notes on those as well. Thanks!
The Japanese all-female bands are just embarrassing everyone else with few exceptions. That is one of the best dueling solos I've heard in 5 decades.
Wow...33 songs! That's seriously impressive. Appreciate the warning, by the way.
Hey coached missed you for some reason i dont get your notifications
Good to see you!
🫠🫠 Y'all can put your faces back on now.
😁👍
God I love this band. Ever since you first showed me them I have been binging. So far nothing close to bad, just great music thoughout. The lives are even more insane than the recordings, which just blows my mind. Next time they are in Europe I will be there, have no doubt. Couldn't agree with you more Coach, this is just good music!
As I am one to tend to do, throwing out some recommendations while I'm here:
Band-Maid - Dice (M/V): th-cam.com/video/ZpAYnVJX9CY/w-d-xo.html
Mamamoo - Um Oh Ah Yeh (M/V): th-cam.com/video/pFuJAIMQjHk/w-d-xo.html
Babymetal - Divine Attack (Live): th-cam.com/video/INRPP78SvXs/w-d-xo.html
Everglow - La Di Da (M/V): th-cam.com/video/jeI992mvlEY/w-d-xo.html
Rolling Quartz - Fearless (Live): th-cam.com/video/ezczi7VMMNQ/w-d-xo.html
We appreciate your recommendations, and glad you are enjoying this band. It's hard not to binge, but guess that is a blessing of being busy with work and family obligations a lot.
@@CoachCastTV I tend to ignore sleep to still have time for watching/listening to all my groups. Probably not healthy at this point, but yeah....... 🤔
We may need to quit doing new groups for your sake. LOL
Nemophila Zen live
If you wanna see an early duel then you should react to take me higher official live but you probably won't
Bless the poor soul whom she's singing about... yeah....
the solo section in hate, it seems to be a man voice (misa's bass) and a woman voice (kanami's PRS) having a hate filled argument that repeats accusations between each other then gradually gets shorter and shorter where the couple are just swearing at each other then to the point where they are shouting over each other until finally the woman (kanami's guitar) is raging out a tirade of abuse.
i dont know if its projection be that is what it seems to be to me
Sounds reasonable.
hi ❤ please react to stray kids "god's menu" this is very talented and amazing group

You mentioned Lovebites....Fun fact: 3 of the girls were there at that show to support Band Maid. Asami, Midori, Haruna were caught on fan cams etc. Not to mention their own posts to social media.
That's awesome!
Just so you know, I will be taking credit for introducing you guys to this band and will hold it against you to my advantage!😂😂😂
I believe Saiki wrote this about a guy who cheated on her friend.
Meaning don't mess with Saiki or even her friends!
Endless Story from this same concert, next please!
You think you couldn't love the Maids more than you already do.
You are wrong!🤘👊🫶
We're grateful for you and anyone else who mentioned them until we finally got to them. They're fantastic.
