    ABOUT NEW AMSTERDAM
    Inspired by Bellevue, the oldest public hospital in America, this unique medical drama follows the brilliant and charming Dr. Max Goodwin, the institution’s newest medical director who sets out to tear up the bureaucracy and provide exceptional care. How can he help? Well, the doctors and staff have heard this before. Not taking “no” for an answer, Dr. Goodwin must disrupt the status quo and prove he will stop at nothing to breathe new life into this understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital - the only one in the world capable of treating Ebola patients, prisoners from Rikers and the President of the United States under one roof - and return it to the glory that put it on the map.

    I like how she came back this season and seemed to be using her tendencies for good, she made a friend and taught her to stand up for herself. She may still be violent, callous, and messed up but she did at least try to help someone in her own way

      @@jennief2108 For a psychopath (at least the kind portrayed here and in shows like it), life is translated into achieving goals - and that includes interpersonal relationships. Even therapeutic sessions with someone like Frome - where the object is to understand her condition, have breakthroughs, control her outbursts - just turned into a lesson of another kind: one in which she learns how to be more convincing, a better psychopath instead of just "better".

    Absolutely disagree having dealt with someone(s) who display such behavior. All of their training them to do is to have an appearance of being a normal caring person when really it's all about manipulation for them and because they now have a disguise they've been taught to where they can blend in with others and have more opportunity to harm. I'm not saying send them to the gallows but I am saying teaching them to blend in and have a "normal life" is definitely not the answer. Hey maybe they should be registered like sex offenders 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ .

      You can't change a person mind. They say that in order to be considered normal You have to have empathy and sympathy towards others. To me there is no such thing as normal anymore because everyone different and can't change people. All you can do is provide skills and training to allow them to live well adjusted life and in a non violent manner.

      I know this is a character so it doesn’t really matter but as someone in the social sciences I do want to say remember therapists even the ones who are doctors only have so much experience and expertise in only so many things. ASPD is so rare especially this young (you technically aren’t even really allowed to diagnose someone this young have to wait till 18) that he probably has only y’all about them in theory way back when. He deals with angry, violent kids all the time working at a hospital he knows she is different but it’s probably hard for him not to look at her like he does them with a heart of gold hiding somewhere down there. When you are unprepared you lean on your disposition and that is his and so I thought it was quite realistic in that sense. The most unrealistic part of this whole thing is that they would figure out is is a psychopath so quickly.

      @@victoriaabbey3525 Hi, I hope you don't mind me asking because you seem to be an expert on the field. In the episode, Frome said that he would create a reward scheme for Juliet, so she would learn that by fitting in, she would get rewards in different forms. Is it really a good idea? Because in the real life scenario, not all people would give equal rewards for what they get. For example, when a bank teller treats a customer well, the customer might not say "thank you" and instead act rude. Wouldn't this break the reward scheme?

      @jchen8902 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@getsuccessfulwithandito1550 psychopathy is very rarely diagnosed, and it is incurable. Hence, there is no right or wrong approach to treatment or therapy. A "reward" system might not be the best as the second the psychopath decides that the situation is outside the circumstances of the game, or loses interest in the reward, it stops being effective. Moreover, likely the only reason it worked in this situation was that the child was very young. In most teen or adult psychopaths there's a low chance the scheme will work on them. However - and this is simply my personal opinion - any therapy that causes psychopaths to at least act within societal norms should be utilized. Because even though you can never truly _help_ the patient, nor allow them to feel any semblance of human emotion, at least in this way they'll be able to live a somewhat normal life and the danger to others is greatly reduced.
