with difficult colors i usually spray 1 control coat then 1 control coat with 200% water added to the paint and 1 control coat with 300% water. this also helps prevent edges
I would have masked up front door edge for the first cover coats on primer, then pulled off masking paper on the last control coat or 2. Helps me with my sand piling.. great job as always man. Ive learned a ton from you. Gracias!
Nice job Buddy 👍🏾if you tell the writers you need 20 inches for blends they give you 15 if you say you need 12 the give you 6 always a struggle. Nice to see your videos your a Great Painter
I have been trying to do body work and painting and I'm struggling. Your videos are awesome. thank you for the hard work and for sharing the important details.
With Axalta and 1 1/2 coats your able to blend in a very tight area. The system is the easiest to blend bye far….just saying. Sand-piling creates mottlle, and it can be tough to deal with times . With a true waterborne, there is no over spray or sand-piling. For example- because its a wet on wet process you could spray a black complete then tack with a new tack rag before clear and there won’t be any sign of black on the tack rag cause any overspray lands into the wet film and is absorbed. It ends up being silky smooth before clear. It was good that you eliminates to many blend area buy spraying to the top and bottom of the door. We should never attempt to blend in a circle if we can help it.
Great job as always! You would'nt happen to have the Iwata LPH400 LVX Extreme gun with orange cap by chance? Wanting to see some suggested gun settings for that gun.
You should make a video for diyers showing how to make multiple sprayout cards to aide in blending.. ie most diyers don't have access to tinting bank and adjusting there paint they purchased...ie the variant they choose was the best option but is still off .ie to dark. Please show how multiple spray out cards with multiple coats of basecoat clear blender .. Can help adjust colour matching along with spraying psi which can light or darken a colour. Along with blending tips during painting. The goal is to lighten a basecoat varriant using a base cost blender etc, along with blending techniques and drop coats etc.
helping others is one of the greatest thing in refinishing basecoat clear coat system. but how about polyurethane paint blending? the basecoat is added with hardener means paint is wet quite longer. using tackcloth is the issue?
why not use a smaller gun and work tighter patterns? I'd rather push a smaller air cap and leave room to work. Does that make sense? sometimes I use a jamb gun for blending metallics.
Question: Do you need to scotchbrite or buff the entire panels original clearcoat before laying down the final clearcoat on top of the repair? OR is it possible to lay down an epoxy primer patch, then patch with the base color, then just put the final clearcoat over the entire panel without scuffing the whole area for adhesion of the final clearcoat?
do always clear top to bottom on a down draft booth? I'm just the opposite because I was taught that all my over spray will melt in because I always have a wet bed. also not fighting texture. also what grit to do prep your blend panels? I finish mind with 1000 on metallic colors and 800 on solid colors
+garrett stokes I alternate most of the time I clear bottom to top but sometimes top to bottom if your clear is not melting into itself then maybe the clear is to fastwe use 1000 for light colors 😀 thanks for the support!!
Idk if this has ever been asked before but what started the whole blower routine what made you choose that style how did you end up choosing your first blower did someone show you that trick or you saw it and said hey I think I could make use out of it
+Brandon Tashiro I just wanted to make the base dry faster and when we switched to ppg they brought the blowers so then I started using them. They are affordable unlike the sata ones that are just crazy in Prize
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS Thats what should have been done in the first place. Otherwise the overspray covers the window. Also allows contaminants to blow back out on the painted surface
"Swing your leg infront and across..." I suppose that it is a stupid question, but what do you mean by that? I just cant imagine it, so that is why i am asking. Thank you.
+Brulserz the whole point of that is to not stopping while you are spraying if you take a step and stop and your finger still on the trigger you are going to screw something up but if you swing your leg across in front of the other and try to keep your body moving while spraying instead of step and stop. Hope that makes sense probably now but that's the best I can do in text hahahahah
I've got a color that matches spot on, but a sanded through spot near the front of the door. I can just paint the entire door. But I have a second place sanded through and discolored that needs to be resprayed on the quarter behind this door. I can spray the base to lightly bring the color back to normal. But how do I get the clear coat to blend with the existing clear? Do I use a chemical within the clear? If I clear the entire area I would have to paint half the car due to it being a fast back mustang. I want to blend the paint, and then blend the clear. Or does clear need to be blended? If I over lap other clear won't it sand down with 1500, then 3000, then would it leave a line or area that does not clean up and buff or polish properly?
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS Yes I know to clear over any base. If you spray base over an area the size of a door latch. Do you need to clear the entire door? Or if you have that same area on the quarter panel...do you need to clear the entire back half of car, top, both quarters, tail panel and so on? Or can you blend the clear? So, Okay the base will go on about 6 square inches of the quarter. The same for the door area. I don't mind clearing the entire door again. But having to clear half the car to repair a small area I reshoot on quarter panel, that needs two light coats of base and is a 6 inch square area seems crazy Especially since I see you actually doing it on a small area yourself. What your doing is what I want to be able to do. Not clear the biggest part of the car for a little base touch up area. If I shoot clear over clear, will it show Dull areas where I stop? Or will sanding it and buffing it make it look fine? Yes I know it needs to be cleared. Maybe I can send you a pic of it. Are you on facebook? Thank you.
One question please if u put sealer on the primer and dry it then u put base coat and clear coat u think the primer soak up base coat and clear ? After some days ??????? Because some time the finisher cuts the edge or cut the primer and see the filler so he put canes 1k primer so how to fix like that’s problem ??? Thanks for your reply 🙏🏻🙏🏻
there is nothing wrong of asking we are all refinishers. this guy is great lets give him a big hand.

Absolutely a great way to do it! Thanks brother !
I do my drop coat while the surface is still wet ,but increase the distance a bit .Thats always worked for me but I always use wet bed
Good work. Only issue could arise is you spraying the covered window area with the overspray on plastic . It could flake off
Nice job Buddy 👍🏾if you tell the writers you need 20 inches for blends they give you 15 if you say you need 12 the give you 6 always a struggle. Nice to see your videos your a Great Painter
Nice work..learning how to do blend.. Its one of the most dificult jobs..greatings from spain.keep going.

I don't care what you do, a blend is always noticable. I guess for a daily grocery getter this look better than a dent.
Awesome video, I like that you explain what and how you do your jobs.
+stan onishi thank you so much!!!!! 😁😁😀😊😀😊
Good work on the Meme that was fun to watch thx guys
nice blend bro so releasing the trigger when blending is go might have to try
+Peter Raco 😁😁
Awesome job you need to list you equipment were can i get one of those blowers
Thank youuuu!!!! Motivatedpainters.com
I would use a tighter overlap for both your base and clear but nice job looks good on camera
+Valer Vitak isn't it awesome that we can have so many different techniques and still get awesome paint jobs?!
MOTIVATED PAINTERS, you will never find two painters that are exactly the same.
+Valer Vitak you are so right! 💪
awesome i learn a lot from your videos thanks gabi
Thanks so much !!!
nice job gabriel the WS400 and LS 400 if your learning to paint what gun would you go for

Never done it brother we don't us that
Learned something I always have a hard time with when clearing big panels. One foot over the other fixes that.
Thanks a lot.
Glad I can help !!!🙂

Your booth is so amazing. Gah. Someday
So did u use the paint for the car or did u use a paint similar to the paint for the car to cover the primer
The actual paint
no need wet bead , base clear just plain basecoat then clearcoat. and shoot the panel. only few can do it right.
Yes it can do that
Like how u work. What's the name of gun using ?
This one was tekna basecoat I believe it's old
What kind or brand of cleaner do you use post sanding ? I use solvent base on my bike frames jobs. Please let me know. Thx
Same prime wash

+Konstantin Top- painting Happy New Year!! Thank you!! German booth is great!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How did you prep the panels so you don't need a wet bed.what grit of sand paper did you use
800-1000 if they are silver or gold
Ok thanks
That's badass, you have a lift in the booth?
I am so freaking grateful man yes I do !!!!

Everything has to be sanded always
MOTIVATED PAINTERS That’s what I had learned but I don’t think some of these other tutorials understand that. Appreciate you. 🙏
Hi friend! good job man,and nice commentary👍
+My Favorit Channel. Thank you!!!!!!! 😁😁😀😀😀😀😀
hi gabe great video. quick question. no need to use blender on it? thanks and god bless
Nope if you can tack and keep your gun control controled lol but if you need to then it's okay too
what's the brAND OF THE WET BED YOU USE?
NICE

such a beast....

do you use t492 and t494 in your base coat? 10% 492 and 20% of 494.
+garrett stokes not for metalics

+Brandon Tashiro yeah man!!
looks good man 👍 what do you use to edit your videos?
+Spray Works thanks! You ready?!! Windows movie maker 😂
Where does the overspray go in the door handle openings?
Not much goes in there it desipates inside of the door. Is much better to cover them with some foam tape though

+Jorge Luis Porto I'm not sure where you are from but you should be able to ask your paint rep for a blower 😀 thanks for the support!!

You don't use color blender with waterborne?
Nope don't need it unless is supper hot and dry
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS oh, just wondering because never used waterborne before

What gun do you use ? I need help finding a gun that won't break the bank. I'm gonna be painting on 21 floors. Also what's that pressure reader?
+M6teenbam323 it really all depends on what product you will be shooting. Tells prolites are great guns for whatever you throw at them
Gun snobs usually can't paint with anything less than the best and most expensive. Even then it's a crap shoot.
Tekna GTI prolite. You can’t go wrong. Very versatile gun. Runs about $350 usd
What kind of pump sprayer do you use??
Same as the colas ones
nice

on your blower is that a regulator?
+Gilbert Lorona yes sir!
MOTIVATED PAINTERS who makes it and part number i need something like that

wow
I use PPG EC530 and sometimes EC520 clear. how long would you recommend waiting between my first and second coats?
For ec530 no longer than 10 minutes and no less than 7 for ec520 no more than 5 no less than 3
Thanks!!!
Do you buff at all???
+JBIRD575 yes everyday 😊
What is control coat?
Last coat before clear
Do you use somethimes blending aditive?
+Majstorovic hello thanks for the kind words! No I don't
Thank,s ..forget to asking how much pressure use for this job...?
+Majstorovic 18 base 15 control coat 30 clear PSI
Ok it is about .1bar for base .I thought so. If you would like to use more pressure for the base layer not be good, thank,s again for
patience.
+Majstorovic for this gun " tekna base coat "" this is the set up.
I still see your blend. Tough color.
+Cel Pinal can't get them perfect every time!! 😀 thanks for the feedback
Once cleared you cant not see anything great job and that is a hard color to blend

Ok, not funny... :/
its very easy for a long time sprayer again very easy.
wtf is a wet bed?
bruno burtoni it’s a clear base coat used on blend panels. It’s makes blending metallic and pearl paints so much easier.
