SUGGESTION...1st layer..tater tots..2nd layer..lots of shredded cheese..3rd layer..BBQ..4th layer..cheese..5th layer..tater tots...either butter spray or melted butter on top of outside tatertot layer for crispy crunchy cooking. Enjoy
Thanks for the wild plant education in your vids. I know a few of the edible & medicinal plants here in the southwest, but it's always good to learn more. 🌿Bummer your spoon busted mid-mac & cheese production. A backpacker's long handled titanium spoon would last you a lifetime on your camping forays; love mine! 🌈🏞️ Happy Trails.
Welcome! There's a bunch more plant nerdery near the beginning of this video: th-cam.com/video/7CN8e31Y13o/w-d-xo.html I'll put that spoon on my wishlist. For now, I've been using a folding spoon/fork/knife/corkscrew thingie that I was gifted long ago.
The thing with that type of pour over (having spilled MANY times, myself!) is that it does this when your cup is too wide. You need a cup that’s got a smaller opening so the filter holder rests entirely, not the edge/lip. Try a smaller diameter cup if you’ve got one 😉 and those just add water meals are already precooked, I’ve made the same mistake of thinking “cook” when it’s really just “rehydrate.” I miss Gunther in all your earlier videos! he sure is a little companion! Great video-as always!thanks!
I wonder if you would be willing to (or if you already have) do a video with a voiceover, telling how you set up camp? Like, what steps you go through and how you decide where to put things? I'm a newbie and I think this would be super helpful!
That's a tough one, because I don't really have a system. It just depends on the site, the conditions, how I feel that day, and also taking filming into consideration. I set up my hangout spot where it's private, quiet, and the views are nice. If there's weather on the horizon, I set up my kitchen where it's sheltered from rain or wind. That's the gist of it, but I'll try and explain my thinking in future videos.
That pond tho, the wee fish jumping, the heron sharing the space with you and a bunny. Magic indeed. Oh and so stealing the stuffed Mac and cheese recipe. Thanks!
My wife and I have been enjoying all your videos. Keep posting them! The bird you labeled as a green Kingfisher, I think it is a night heron. Possibly a Green Heron. Thanks again.
It truly was! Very calm and relaxing. There were a couple rigs nearby, but the people rarely came out, and when they did, they were very quiet and respectful of others' peace.
Omg I wish you could come visit here in SoCal in Jurupa Valley! We'd garden/farm with my cats, give woodworking advice, camping and maybe even do pottery ceramics! That would be amazing
i have done the samething to mac& cheese experimenting in the kitchen. on how to do the same dish in the field with the same items. need to use more water and boiling water is needed. so you cook the mac the same as normal. no mush result.
Your videos are great. I am salivating at all of your pie iron cooking! Do you by any chance have a link to all the recipes? I can't remember everything you made and the ingredients.
Thank you! I have plans to get a cookbook out by the end of the year. In the meantime, I have a blog sitting there doin’ nothing. If I have some time 😂 maybe I could start staging the recipes there. 🤔
Yes, it is very easy to lose track of time when trying to cook & tend to a campfire.
I will watch this one again when i can pay full attention. Busy cooking and cleaning up after sloppy joes

The hen with her chicks! Bawlity!
So a pie iron chef cook book needs to be a thing!
"Recipe development" sounds like a pretty good excuse to keep camping 😏
I miss those Arizona 🌇 sunsets. I love watching the sunset on Thumb Butte.

I ended up getting a wider filter rather than a smaller cup, because MORE coffee! 😆
@@ShoestringMarthathat makes sense, too!😂
These early videos, pre-Gunther, are so lonely. I miss the little fella.
I didn't feel lonely at the time, but now, I couldn't imagine doing this without him. 🥰
I AGREE
Lol..for a second you were lighting a cigar!
Tristan is how I discovered you :)
Love your content.
What a beautiful place right on the water. I have the canteen kit and the pan..next payday im ordering the grill...i WILL have bread too.
You mac n cheese turned into a type of masa. I've got to get one of those pie irons.

Just don't obliterate the noodles, like I did! 😂
@@ShoestringMartha panko saved the day!
Thanks for the plant knowledge, n the wildlife. That was great to hear the coyotes!
I’ve lived in Phoenix, Glendale, Buckeye and now Peoria. I did not know that place existed. I’m gonna check it out as soon as I can. Thx
It's certainly a unique and funky little oasis -- right off the highway. Enjoy!
Your camp kitchen is so awesome!
Thanks -- I love that dang thing so goshdarn much!

Thanks for watching, and for the ID! I try, but I'm not much of a birder 😂 It definitely looks like one of those herons you mention.
Looks like a beautiful spot!

Yumm! I love your videos.
You are awesome. Love the videos.
Are you a botanist because you know a LOT about plants!
lol I wish! What I know is just a tiny drop in a vast bucket of information.
SUV Rving is how I discovered your channel & have been hooked ever since! 🥾🏔❤️🇨🇦
That's awesome! In person, Tristan is every bit as engaging and curious as he is on-camera.
Get a UCO SPORK...better quality than light my fire. 😢
You could have at least improvised a nice wholesome rabbit pie ;)
🥺🥺🥺
What an amazing peaceful place....NOOOO. NOT REALITY. EEEWWW. PEOPLE. LOL!!
