Hi Martha! LOVE your videos!! You seem like you would be so much fun to hang out with :-) Love all of your cooking ideas--the fondue for one was truly inspired! Keep them coming--I always look forward to them!!🥰
I think U hav just as much fun getting prepped for the trip as on the trip! Thanks for all the inspo!! I’m 1.5 yrs Widowed & U make alone look Dang Good!!🦋💝🌺
I do love to plan and organize! 😄 And yeah, there is definitely something to be said for doing whatever you want, whenever you want, and just enjoying the moment.
This just popped up tonite and I’m so glad it did. One word, heartwarming. I loved everything you did here and it’s giving me lovely thoughts of how my life can incorporate more fun and joy into it, even if I can’t camp at the moment. You getting up to see the meteor shower at two am reminded me tonite was a full moon, so I jumped up to see it rise over the mountain my deck faces. Tomorrow I’ll get up before sun rise and walk along the river and sit and watch the sun come up over that same mountain and see the way it will etch the grasses by the river in gold, and reflect off the river. I’m not sure my cooking will aspire to much more than it is but perhaps this good ole girl will sip a whiskey and chai while watching the sun rise. Thanks Martha! I loved this!
Feel so lucky to stumble across your channel while researching car camping. Your food takes it to a whole other level. The scenery is great too. Almost makes me miss AZ lol. Your watercolor was the perfect finale =) Thanks for your videos!
I just camped at Catalina State Park too in my off road XTR teardrop camper. I am a AZ Girl camper too. Fantastic campground. Our lows in low 30's. Freezing am at 6. Had to walk the dog. Good idea of fondue for camping . Cheese and chocolate- Yummy!!!
Been binge watching some of your videos (specifically car camping. Ok we need to meet up You are such a trip (in a good way) Love what you have done, simplicity of how you camp and well your videos 🥰
Really liked the two videos for this trip. It was fun to see you out hiking and biking. I’m impressed with your painting skills! Even watching that was relaxing. Crazy to see you wearing shorts in December!
You are quite a Gourmet👍, your Fondue is completly different from ours, but looks yummy🤤 Your Truck looks very cozy, oh I forgot, it is cat approved, so who knows better about cozyness than our small feline friends, don't you think so too?? Enough for now, watching all this made me hungry, gotta run an make me a sandwich...grilled cheese would be nice🤤🤤 Cheers from 🇨🇭🍻
Cheers to you as well! 🍻 Doug and Ellie are excellent comfort testers! I wish they liked car rides. I would take them with me. I actually have 🇨🇭 raclette🇨🇭 on my very long list of possible menu items. I've just been trying to figure out how to make it by a campfire, without any special pans or other equipment. I think I could just use one half of a pieiron in some sort of way. Stay tuned!
@@ShoestringMartha you just take a block, not precut slices, of raclette cheese, place it with the cut facing close to the fire, as soon as there is a nice amount of melting cheese, you scrape it with a knife onto your plate. Goes well with baked potatoes🤤 Now I'm hungry all over again😄
What a great video. Your editing around your sense of humour is awesome. Oh and Im a popcorn fanatic so ill be stealing your trick to make it while camping:) A tip if you werent aware: leave a window cracked at night to help with condensation. At least that is what Ive heard😆 New subbie:)
Thank you! I think it got down to about 42F early in the morning, and it was chilly, but not uncomfortable. 30s are way too cold for me! I’ve done down to the 20s, but was not a fan 🥶
I really love how present you are with your surroundings. Your watercolour paintings are a beautiful memento of your trips. What do you plan to do with them? 💜 from Aus 🇦🇺
Thank you 😊 Disconnecting from distraction was a major reason that I started camping again. As for the watercolors, I'm thinking about creating a tiny, secret gallery in my closet. 🤔
It depends on the campground, but I often choose an either/or site. I prefer woodsy tent sites, but a lot of times, the parking spot is too far from the table and fire ring. Considering that's where I sleep, I pass over those kind of sites. Before I book, I usually go to campsitephotos.com and Google satellite imagery and look at each available site, to pick a winner. I don't think I've ever booked an RV-only site.
I have a small fan that -- on low -- does a pretty good job of keeping the air moving. For ventilation, I just leave the sunroof open an inch or two. I have a magnetic screen that goes on top of it. Later on, I might get some rain guards, so that if it's wet out, I can crack open the side windows instead.
last half of this one today. just watch barnyard outdoors pie iron pocket pizza video. he took a totino's square pizza, thawed it about halfway. so he could fold it in half. used a double iron & baked the pizza. in his video he mentions pizza rolls, yes, 4-5-6 whatever would fit & heat up. hang on, you bring out some fireball. recipe for my roumulan ale. 1 - a clean empty 2liter soda bottle, 2. 1- 1 liter bottle ever-clear at 200 proof. 3- a 750ml bottle fireball. 4 a 750ml bottle blue curaco. mix as follows: empty the ever-clear & fireball into the empty clean soda bottle. top the 2 liter off with the curaco at 250 ml. shake to mix. it should turn green for coloring. enjoy as a sipping drink. 1 or 2 shots at best at bedtime. yes i am a trekkie. you keep the cinnamon flavor from the fireball. i did this years ago, most of the whiskey's are a blend of one an another. the percentage just changes. so i came up with my own blend. go raid your local store for 1 bottle of each that you like. you need a large canning pot now. pour all into the pot, stir an rebottle.
@@ShoestringMartha roflmao, going to send you email map of minn. it is pixeled out map. this was my leaf trip for 2023. about 11 hrs on the road each day. had miserable color last fall due to the drought.
Thanks so much! All the mods were already on when we bought it, and the specs were not included in the dealer info, so I do not know the details on the lift. I can tell you that the tires are Toyo R/T Open Country 33"x11.5" 😊
Same audio problem with other passed videos !!! Better attention to quality is a must. Hopefully newer videos will not have the same audio problems. 😢😢😢
I got mentally healed by watching this awesome video. I like the relaxing atmosphere which this video shows.😀👍👍
Most inventive, best vanlife food on the internet! I enjoyed thoroughly! Thanks!
Wow, thank you!

Never going back to crunchless fondue! 😄
I freaking want to camp with you - you have meal prep rocking
lol wait til you get to the snackleboxes 😂
Seriously, fondue while camping? Fancy!! Loved the video. Thank you! 👍
A party of one never looked so fun😉. ( Nice little h2o color paintings. It'd be nice to see you do more of these out in the field.)
Thanks! I always intend to, but typically end up too distracted. 😑 Next time, for sure.

That sounds beautiful! During this morning's early walk, we caught the moon behind some thin, lacy clouds, and it was so wonderfully spooky.

Brr!! It only got down to about 40 for me, and that was plenty cold! Will definitely go back some time though. Lovely campground :)
Your food always looks awesome! Makes the camp out extra special!
Great video. I admire you for doing this alone. I love Catalina State Park.
Whoooo Hooooo. Homemade jiffy pop. Your art is amazing!!
Thank you! That was a fun one. I think now I have at least 4 different ways to make popcorn while camping 😄

Thanks so much and welcome to the fam! ☺️
Liked the careful way you sat on the hammock! I'm familiar with that level of caution 😆 also, I like that popcorn method, going to tick that one away!
Every time I tried to sit, the straps slipped another couple of inches and creaked so loudly! Positive I was crashing right onto my tuchus 😂
@@ShoestringMartha 🤣
Dang, i am going to make a fondue spread to eat on my fire escape.
You are way too funny when you cook (and imbibe). Subscribed
Welcome! Looking forward to plenty more goofiness in boonies 😂

Loved your video & thought Creme Brulee when you whipped out the butane torch! 🥾🏔🇨🇦❤️
lol there mayyyyyyy be creme brulee in the next camping video. 🤫
The terrain differs greatly than bear my home in Deep South Texas, but we do have lots of mesquite trees and lots of cactus .
I like your new fire tool!!!!! Awesome camp spot and hike. Now I'm hungry, you know how to camp and beautiful creation too.
What you just did is on my bucket list!🥾🦉🪵🌵🎨⛺️

Welcome and thanks for the tip! I think I was so worried about being cold (I’m a big baby about it 🥶), I didn’t even consider ventilation 😄
What was your overnight low temp? I camped last week at 32 degrees and I was not comfy! I love your watercolors.
