i see superior,az is on us60. have driven the east end from mile post 0. as far west as charleston,wv. when i-64 was still under construction. now no more hurricanes every year. just the odd tornado & blizzard. bisquik mix for dumplings & no stirring. you let them simmer & steam for about 20 minutes. when mom did them in beef stew they came out bagel sized.
I’ve just subscribed after watching your tour on SUVRVING. you’ve got some clever ideas going for you. If you are going to be in southern Arizona in the summer, definitely window coverings. A lot of people I use Reflectix for warmth and privacy.
I also just watched you on SUV RVING channel too! How awesome! Love your set up! Wish I’d come across your channel before I started buying my setup for car camping!
Wow twinsies 👯♂️! I have another Hipcamp booked for April as well - and it’s at a vineyard! 🍷 Also happy to report that my little plant survived, after all - just frost-damaged. 😅
I just recently came across your videos and am absolutely loving them. I know this is 5 months old but...I've nevervheard of hip camping. Will definitely look into it. I want to camp with basset hounds and cats!
Right on! If you decide to give it a try, use my referral code (link is in the description), and it'll knock $10 off your first stay 😀 Oh and I don't think you can camp at BTA; sorry if I made as if one could. 🤔
Window coverings for sure. Mine are the foil stuff from Lowes. For heat I use a UCO Candelier 3-candle lantern. I covered the glass with aluminum from a couple of Monster cans. It works remarkably well in the back of my Tacoma topper. Came over from SUVRVING. Good stuff!
🥶💨 Cold camping: sleep with a hoody on in a zero degree sleeping bag. If you have a dog, huddle up close together. (That plump basset hound woulda worked😉). 2am potty time: stay in the rig & try a "P-Style" device & go in a container that has a resealable lid. ( This is very doable in a rig like yours. I use this method, day or night, in my Highlander camp rig). Great solo winter camping vid. Keep'em coming.
Ruby was a smart hound. As soon as the food was gone, she waddled on home. Probably sprawled out in front of a nice warm fireplace all night. I have such a device, and the one time I tried to use it... I uh, froze up. Need more practice, I guess. 😂
@@ShoestringMartha Yes, I had a couple mishaps using the "stand-to-go" device in the beginning too. They take a little practice in a regular bathroom or outside to get the hang of it, but wow are they worth it! It's SO MUCH easier to not have to get totally unwrapped & crouch down in a vulnerable position somewhere. **Practice in your home BR, you'll be glad you did when ur "out in the field!" Happy Travels to you. 😉
I have, and I think they're really nice, but more than what I'm willing to spend. I actually *just* bought a Napier Sportz Cove, used, off eBay. I'll be trying it out for the first time next week. And THEN, I'm making window covers. It was already 96 yesterday. 🥵
Looks like once I've completed this year of camping every month (October 2022, by my calculations) I have a whole boatload of non-camping footage to cobble together -- including my trip to the Arboretum (plant puns and dad jokes included). 😂
SS, A few month later..gotta say I don't know how to use these social networks well but just watched Instagram w you /Gunther on 'Sunshine' bicycle..My GOD woman..create videos for TV commercials too. Love them! I am Lynda Mclaughlin from Phoenix. Don't know why my pic of forerunner shows up..
I need that Electric blanket (on low). Where’d you find it? Found you via SUV RV’ing, great bed build, I need that on my FJ Cruiser (same frame as 4 Runner I’m told). And that Chuck Box was awesome!! Tons of great ideas !! We’re from Phx area, looks like you’re from Tucson. We’re heading to Superior area (Boyce Thompson etc) as well. (Where was that campsite? (Never heard of “ Hipcamp”? Very interested. It’s in the stars that we found you I guess. So fun! Continued luck on your home project(s). Cheers!!
Hi and thank you! I’m from Phoenix too ☺️ Hipcamp is kind of like AirBnB but for land to camp on. I put a link in the description, if you would like to check it out. The one I stayed at was called “Mesquite Canopy - San Pedro Riverbed. It’s about 45 S of Superior. Next month I’m staying at one at a vineyard 😄🍷 Enjoy your trip!
Love your videos. What kind of coffee filter is that? I don't see a link to it. It looks like you don't have to use a paper filter? Could you talk about it...maybe in another video? Thx.
Thanks so much! It's a dripper for Vietnamese coffee, and you do not use a paper filter, which is why I like to take it camping. I added a link to the description. IIRC I talked about it wayyyy back in my very first camping video. 😬 As you'll see, I'm not a very good Vietnamese coffee maker 😂. th-cam.com/video/AzC0dGhqcwg/w-d-xo.html
love your videos from my experience van camping in a cargo van Reflectix the Bumble rap aluminum insulation works wonders also if you back it with pre-cut styrofoam from Lowe's the shape of your window it makes your life a lot easier.
Those sound SOLID! I haven’t shown them yet, but, I ran out of time and ended up buying a set from WeatherTech. A bit of an investment 💸 but that’s what I get for overextending myself 😄
You need a pee bucket in your rig for the middle of the night, especially when it's cold. The golf ball catcher? Is that what it's called? I would like to get one.
Just saw you on SUV. Gonna follow you now.saw your bed build, gonna try that in my 4door jeep.my problem is the front passenger seat.may have to remove it.gonna binge watch now.i get sir'd too.lol. what size Dutch oven is that?
Ah yeah Jeeps have such a shorter wheelbase, but I know it's possible! The dutch oven is *tiny* -- 1/2 quart. I got it at Target. Dang Joanna Gaines convinced me to buy it, with all its cuteness.
The only thing I would NOT have liked ,, was those pesky animals, I mean, you pay & reserve ahead of time & then you get there & the first thing you got at ur spot before u even get settled is the dogs-- I just think its rude of the host/owners to let that happen-- it's not that I dont like 🐕🐶,, but not to be bothered while I'm camping & preparing food & there RIGHT THERE -- that def, annoy me🤔👎👎, but ur handled it well🤪, everything you make always looks😋 delicious👏👍
They were generally *around* off and on, but didn't get in my way or into my stuff, so they didn't bother me, personally. But I totally understand how not everyone would be too fond of that.
That burger was epic! "Get a-long little doggie!" and "dog tax" killed me!
I bet that dumpling dish was amazing. Thanks for your tips and other ideas, they are great. Happy Trails
It was! Can’t wait for it to cool off so I can make it again.

I just saw you on SUV also and just now subscribed to your youtube channel. You have some great ideas and are pretty interesting.
Plant nerdery and puns always welcome!
That is an amazing kitchen set up!!👍
I loved the video and, those 2 dogs are so delightful and respectful… So sweet.
They really were -- perfect company!

Your cookbox is still one of the best seen on TH-cam…❤
I suggest window coverings….
Thanks! And I did eventually get some window covers - life changing. 😄
Wow..that was a burger! Looked yummy. Glad little Gunther wasnt with you with that huge dog there
Yep! This was the early days, before I adopted him 🙂
@@ShoestringMartha he's very lucky you did...he has a good life
The dogs watching you eat donuts. LOL!
My ever-vigilant new friends 😂

So many things about this to smile about.
I think we are leading parallel lives - I booked my first Hipcamp for April! Also love plants (master gardener).

Welcome! Digging that clever heater idea 👏🏼
I too, try to camp every month. My last long roadtrip/camping was last Aug/Sept and the longing is rising.
Yessss!! Heading out again in a few days, and I. am. READY.
Relaxing video! And I love the tile pattern!
Thank you, we're really pleased with how it turned out!
Window coverings would be beneficial throughout the year
Yummy chicken n dumplings! The best tip too, don't skip the herb's! 😋 Looks yummy
What sweet dogs! They totally thought you were going to share more of your donuts.
Oh, they may have gotten more donuts than shown, because I’m a sucker 😂

Window covering’s. Would have a heater just in case.
Reflective window coverings 👌🏼
"Dog tax" 🥰
That’s where my mind it at, currently 🤔 But I may tough it out without them this summer, because I really want a tailgate tent 😅

😆 Well, I’ve really enjoyed it so far; hope you do too!
I need the Vietnamese cajeta cawfee in my life!
That bed frame tho, may I ask what that was? Looks so light weight and practical!
Thanks! ☺️ It’s a little something I built. I made a couple videos about it:

Curious, how did you deal with the donut cooking oil?
Typically, when it cools, I put it back in the now empty jar, re-use it once or twice, and then dispose of at home.
Here's the longer video of donut-making, where you can see the jar I brought the oil in. th-cam.com/video/i3NX-OKbzQE/w-d-xo.html
