Great video bro!! Bite the bullet, get the unit! So much you can do with that including storing extra parts, oil, washer fluid, etc. Buy in bulk and store for when you need it!
Thanks bro! I think we're gonna make a move!
I just did a 10 yard with shingles yesterday. Ended up weighing 10,200 lbs. When I get bigger dumpsters this year I am going to limit roofers to only the 10 yard cans. That way I can keep under cdl and not overload my truck.
I will offer multiple dumpsters for their bigger jobs.
I think that’s a great way to keep yourself safe. Sometimes though, there’s wood, plastic and other debris that could easily fit in a slightly larger dumpster and still not overdue it, depending on the square of shingles of course.
Some information to keep in mind.
The average weight of a square of three-tab asphalt shingles is 230-250 pounds, while architectural asphalt shingles typically weigh 400-430 pounds per square. A square of slate shingles weighs 800-1,000 pounds on average.
Thank you for sharing this my friend. What a difference the weight can be at scale!
Brother, the TH-cam experts all have an opinion on what you do and how you do it. Comment sections can be good to gather info, but at the same time its a space for lesser people to stand on their soapbox and try to trash what you do that may not work forvevery but will work to get you through the next 12 months. Yeah we all want to. be perfect but hell that is the business of working and gathering information. Lord knows I have gathered a lot from doing things a little to a lot incorrect but damn....as little as I know I still have people looking at me like an expert and I dont feel that way. Keep doing what you are doing. As long as you are moving forward you are making it!
Small enclosed trailer would work. You can buy a container subframe for 20’ shipping containers too, then you could move it with your truck. If it’s more convenient just rent one of the storage units. It’s a write off anyway.
Ask the customers what they are putting in the dumpsters, if it’s shingles and they want a 20 yard, tell them you will give them 2 10 yards for the same price as 1 20 yard. You shouldn’t risk being overweight
What about getting a 12' shipping container that you can actually convert to pull up onto your truck? It can move to another yard with you down the road and you could possibly even rent it out for people doing small moves.
Definitely a cheaper option and investment rather than a whole enclosed trailer. I’ve seen them around $2-3k, probably $750 for rails added? 🤷♂️ might be a solid setup. I’ll look more into it! Thanks for the thought my friend!
I posted a video on my fb page.
Kingman Dumpsters
Pulling the front of the truck in the air. Not the first time it happened..
Not ideal for sure! 😅
Is there any dangr of a power washer stripping the lettering off of your dumpsters?
2-5 feet away would cause no damage, closer than 2 feet away could cause problems for sure!
What brand hoist is that? And what kind of winch is it?
