    Awesome informative video as always.
    I'm seeking this mod out because I have broke the rear dog bones twice and noticed the over extension. Great idea upside down with ductape for extra protection.
    Thanks again!

      Thx buddy... I did this mod initially to stop over extention of the shock shaft to avoid bending them. It worked really well... I didn't bend any. I think m2c make some better droop screws that you can adjust from above. Similar in design to a grub screw with a flat bottom...
      Thx for your comment and thx for watching....👍👍🙂

    Great video, thanks. Just a little on the droop screws (you may just tell me I am a little drooped after reading this.
    When you install RPM arms (which I highly recommend) you can't install droop screws because that section is missing. In my opinion, if you look at the design and you notice where the Arrma arms always break (outcast 8s) that is ( I don't have the Kraton but they are the same), it is partially due to the droop screws. Over time, the impact in that area (I think) weakens it and there for breaks on impact in that area. I made my own droop cables which (Knock on wood) have worked great. They seem to help save the shock ends (none broken yet 10 packs worth). The cables are attached to the shock towers close to where the shocks are and through one of the holes on the inside of the arms. I think the idea can also work on the Arrma arms. Again thanks for the great video, keep it up

      Using the strap system to reduce the shock travel instead of droop screws is a good idea. Losi use that method on some of their RTR.

      @@inspiredrc so this is the laundry list I want to do before I start running it.
      Droop screws
      Center Diff, 20 million in the diff
      Shocks 32.5 in the front 30 in the rear.
      Vent tires
      Drywall tape and goo body
      39t spur
      23 pinion
      Punch 5 on esc.

      Excellent! 👍its been a while since I've done it. I've had a few runs since. All good so far. I also changed the shock oil to 30wt. I haven't had bent shocks yet. 🤞

      @@inspiredrc yeah Rich did that too and he thinks it helps. I have had droop since day one. Haven't broken a shaft or rod end yet. Course I haven't had a chance to go Duperbash big yet..... YET
      You Gotta watch his next video though.... It's not out yet.... Just wait.... Thats all I'm gonna say!
      On the droop screws. I really wish Arrma would have stuck with the same size holes as the 6s trucks and we could use M2C droop screws, and if two then space the holes apart!
      The RPM Arms for the 8s are a bigger miss.... Don't even have droop screw holes! WTH

      It makes sense to put them in with all the reports of carnage online. I have also covered the fans with plasterboard tape to avoid breaking fan blades. If you can it is a good idea to do it. I've done a vid. Worth watching if you get 5 mins 👍

    I just discovered this post. Nice one. I broke a shock end on the rear and I couldn't figure out why that would break and looking I saw there were no droop screws. Figured armma didn't put them there cuz they weren't needed. Didn't know about the holes already there. Doesn't make much sense why they would put them there and not add stop screws. Anyway, I flipped it over to see what you were talking about with the pre-existing holes and I noticed with the shock disconnected, still is while waiting on the part, I can get at those holes to add screws without removing the suspension arm and pins. I released a shock on the front and found I have good clearance to do the same there also. Releasing at the top connection was the easiest, so nothing was hanging up when you move the arm . I'm sure I'll have to keep flipping it over till I get them adjusted right but I'd rather do that than take all the front/rear ends apart. LOL. another thing I noticed is I can lay a flat edge across the arm to give me a good starting point of how high to leave the screw heads above the arm. This said, I'm glad I found your post cuz I did do the same on my 6s after I saw the stock stop screws were eating holes right through the chassis. Didn't know the holes were there on the 8s . Thanks for mentioning the screw sizes. Saves me a lot of trial and error , and cussing. LOL.

      Thx pal. Good to hear my vid came in useful. Alot of it is trial and error. I don't know why arrma didn't do it in factory. It would have cost them nothing to do it 😕. We would get a better experience. Anyway thanks for the advice. Good thing is I haven't broken any arms or bend any shocks yet 🤞 thx for the support 👍🙂

      @@inspiredrc Well now I'm really glad I saw your post. I just was taking it apart to install the screws and I noticed that rear suspension arm where the shock broke was hanging lower. Well S.O.B, that chassis stop tab is bent. I just got this thing and I'm not doing any crazy jumping. Just ridiculous, I don't know about this built Armma Tough slogan. Oh well, now some more fun/aggravation. My 6s has been broken more than I've used it. But like I said, I'm super glad I saw your post before I just threw the shock back on. I think I might need another hobby. LOL. Just a side note, if you look at that space where you put the two screws in you'll notice it is recessed. Almost like they were going to put a little plate in there and screw it in. Probably was engineered that way and somebody wanted to save a couple bucks down the line. Think I might try and make one (4) before I put this back together down the road. Armma Tough, Armma Cheap. Lol

      @@WildBillRidesAgain yeah I am nervous when I take it out. My X-maxx takes an absolute beating when I get it out. That is one tough rig!! Let me know how you get on. Another issue i had with mine is I broke a fan blade on the esc. I did repair as no replacements were available at the time. I also covered the fan housing with some plasterboard tape to stop any more stones braking my fan. So far that mod has worked well for me. I also changed shock oil all round to 30wt. Stock is 40wt.

    • @WildBillRidesAgain
      @WildBillRidesAgain 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@inspiredrc okay then, I decided not to overthink it and just put the screws in as you did. I had bought a supply of stainless steel screws for my 6s so I had everything I needed. With both screws in there it looks pretty solid and I noticed the first contact point now is in a little more towards the chassis which should protect the wings from getting bent so easy. I find when it's sitting up on a stand and the shocks are released from the shock tower you can reach underneath and adjust them very easily. I agree with you, that's a very needed mod. Also going to do something along the line of covering the fans as you did. I run on gravel a lot and I would be taking the cover off my ESC fan on the 6s quite often to pick out gravel pieces. Don't want to have to start doing that on this one. Like your channel keep it up.

    That wouldn’t add stress in the event of a tumble with the weight of the truck and the shock tension working against it? I know others insert stoppers inside the shock on the bottom end of the shock piston so it doesn’t extend out all the way. This is still a neat trick I didn’t know any about and looks much more simple than opening a shock. I can see this application working great for prevent speed passes. Thanks for the tip👌

      This is one of the best mods I've ever done. I've been bashing the rig setup for 1 and half years now and still haven't bent a my shock shafts. Its slightly unconventional but definitely works. I changed my kraton into an outcast 8s and bash it silly. Check out some of my recent outcast 8s bashing vids.

    droop screws gonna rub holes in the aluminum chassis.....then what?

    • @inspiredrc
      @inspiredrc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If the droop screws eat into the chassis then you have to constantly adjust them to keep the droop correct. These screws were installed over 6 months ago. They are still all good 👍
