They should've just sold the figure like this. I have both Ravager and regular Thor and I'm so nervous to even do the arm swap. But this end result looks amazing!
I was actually thinking about redoing this video(audio is messed up and I've gotten better at making videos), but what could I do, if anything, to help give you more confidence to try this yourself? My goal with my videos is to be as helpful as possible so feel free to let me know!
@@ComicallyToys Oh no you did great explaining it I just have anxiety and depression and self doubt lol. I don't have the cutting tool or a dremel or any of that stuff either so even doing the arm swap without the wrist guards would be tough for me. I just feel like with my luck I'd break it lol. Nothing you did wrong though, your videos were great and the final product was beautiful.
I hear you completely, my dude! And that's why I make these videos because I consider myself an amateur in pretty much all of this stuff. So my idea is to show that if I can do it, then anyone can do it haha. And to be honest I had attempted a second version of this but totally butchered the cutting of the forearms because I was rushing myself. Luckily I got extra Thor's to work with since they were pretty available at a discount. Well if you'd ever like to give it a shot and I can help in any way then you know where to find me! :)
Yeah so I had the toughest time with the gauntlets, used my drimmel which melted the plastic but with an exacto knife to clean it up it came out perfectly, but man oh man HASBRO must not like customizers cause it really seemed like to get the best THOR we needed to KITBASH and customize but they made each process very difficult to do, all very worth the end product tho, thanks for the video
I appreciate the videos on this custom and the level of detail and warnings you gave regarding the arms, will definitely be useful when I give it a try, I just need to get a ravager Thor to start.
Another thing that could add to the custom is if you use one of the new heads from the latest rerelease of the dark world Thor legends released last year, you’ll have a more film accurate head with the figure since his hair was braided during the majority of that film.
Then it's thanks to customizers like you that I was able to make this video! It's a fun and reasonably easy mod, but I certainly am not taking credit for the idea!
@@ComicallyToys i wasnt saying you wer just happysomeone was able to make a tutorial my tutorial was an afterthought so it was all just pics of what i did lol. Now people will have a easier time doing it themselves
Recent update. Just used my dremel to hollow out the gauntlets. Used the sanding bit to smooth them out but made a change to the last step. Instead of sanding down the forearms, I heated up the gauntlets in hot water and slid them on. The hands hold them in place.
Correct. They look better because Thor actually looks like he's now wearing gauntlets over his forearms. Hasbro doesn't seem to realize that armor makes characters look bigger.
Theoretically that would work, but unless you are very, VERY precise with where you cut/snap the arms, then you'll end up with crooked arms. And with the amount of time it would take to get them cut just right, I think it's worth the time to just hollow them out.
There's no reason a regular drill wouldn't work. I used a Dremel because it's what I have. Though I think a rotary tool like a Dremel also provide a bit more control than I think a regular drill will. And I would be worried about the weight of the battery(unless it's corded) might throw you off too when you're trying to be steady if that makes sense. But the principals should be the same! If you try it then please let me know if it works!
I would love to be able help you be able to do customs yourself. Would you mind or be interested in telling me about the steadiness of your hands? Is it one or both? Could it work if you only had to hold one thing?
Thanks so much for sharing that with me. I'm brainstorming ways to make this easier. Is your main concern the soldering and using the rotary tool? I guess more specifically, would you be able to follow the first video in order to crack the body open to access the arms to begin with? Or is that also something outside of your ability due to your hand shaking?
That's great that there are other people doing it too! Unfortunately I don't have the time to dedicate to making videos at that kind of speed. I appreciate your viewership!
If you heat it up enough it'll pop out when you pull hard enough. You might have use boiling water from the stove and let it soak for a bit. I hope that helps!
If I was smart enough I would attempt this but I don’t trust myself and I’m sure I would destroy the figure……all I can hope is maybe hasbro will release a version like this one some time this year
Hey don't be so hard on yourself! It's not like I'm a professional at this either. I'm a hobbyist just like you! And if it helps, I've only made one other Marvel Legends successfully before, and that was Agent Venom. I did a very similar to the mode because the hands on the original aren't posable or swappable at all. If you are interested in doing something like this, but are worried to destroy your figure then I'd recommend getting a spare figure as fodder to try it on. I hope you consider it because modding can be pretty fun! :)
Dude you have me at the edge of my seat, you are using both the soldering gun and the dremel against your fingers. Use pliers to hold and do it against the cutting board, alse your watcher is extremely close to your soldering gun
Hahaha I'm glad I could entertain you then! And that's totally why the Watcher was there! To make sure I didn't screw anything up! Haha thanks for your view and comment!

Thanks for watching! I hear you though. Honestly now that I've made the video I feel like Hasbro will announce the more accurate LaT Thor tomorrow. 😩

That's a good idea too! I guess the gauntlets don't seem too noticeably bigger since they are being stretch over the arms now?
Correct. They look better because Thor actually looks like he's now wearing gauntlets over his forearms. Hasbro doesn't seem to realize that armor makes characters look bigger.
Nice man!
Would it work if I just cut off midway up his bare forearms and snap the gauntlet off the armored arm then glued them so I don't have to hollow out?
Theoretically that would work, but unless you are very, VERY precise with where you cut/snap the arms, then you'll end up with crooked arms. And with the amount of time it would take to get them cut just right, I think it's worth the time to just hollow them out.
Question, could a regular drill do the job as well, or does it need to be a dremel?

I did a custom with my Shang Chi, I put the forearms from wen wu so my Shang chi has the 10 rings
I was JUST thinking about getting an extra Shang Chi to do that same exact thing!
@@ComicallyToys I love it, definitely worth it man
Love to try this out but I’ve noticed I don’t have steady hands and I feel like I’d mess up the figure so now I just kinda gotta wait

Wow for this guy takes a week to complete the custom. But I saw another guy on tiktok that finished in one day😉

Thank you!!
Bro how did you remove that entire arm from armored thor?
If you heat it up enough it'll pop out when you pull hard enough. You might have use boiling water from the stove and let it soak for a bit. I hope that helps!
Haha, just I was thinking on doing
Do it! And let me know how it goes!
I used an iron to make a custom Billy Dee Williams Twoface batman 89 style. Lung cancer here we come bro lol
Dude that sounds awesome! Please share a link with your results if you can!
