    why does the grooved bearing go into the number 4 bearing cap any reason in particular? is it because is closest to the oil pump ?

    • @DecimalTenths
      @DecimalTenths  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a legacy thing from the previous generations of vag 4 cylinder engines, where it did matter to aid with big end failures. It is seen as best practice to carry on with in the later engines too.

      @@DecimalTenths awesome, thank you for the reply. I was just installing them to take the measurements and noticed that I had 6 of the grooved ones and questioned it. my first though was an error from the manufacturer then read the installation instructions that it was for number #4. It didn’t seem symmetrical enough to me 😹 so I questioned it am glad I saw that in this video. Thank you for the clarification!

      Hi Steve, thanks glad you like it. The early 1.8is have an Allen key head, 5mm off the top of my head. The later ones (depending on your engine code) use a 12 point spline bit instead.
