I just picked up a new Heritage Custom Core H150 and a new set of JPX923's. I need a guitar lesson and a golf lesson. Do you do online lessons? Or any thoughts of moving to Florida?
Well, I'm not too sure about the position you describe being the fountain of youth, though it may slow down the aging process slighly; and I would definitely agree that the position you demonstrate is correct. But, it has to be the hardest thing in golf for the arm to hold off the pull of the club. It is very notable, that in Hogan's slow mo swing drill- especially in the Fr Keller vid- that Hogan presses the upper part of his right arm against his right side. Even when doing the slow mo drill this is quite hard to do. But, I have found that by swinging an air resistance implement it actually makes my right arm press against my right side when my elbow returns to my right side, in the downswing. And, this then makes my right side rotate thru
As an 84 year old golf addict, I have to tell you that this is one of the best instruction videos I have ever watched that seems to get to the bottom of my current problems. Age has really done a number to my golf game. I used to have a 3 handicap but it has ballooned as I have aged. I can hardly wait to get to a range to try this out.
I sincerely appreciate that, Larry! I'm very glad to know that this video resonated with you, and I hope the instructional details contained therein serve your swing well when you put them into practice! By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? Tom you gave me an online lesson last summer, helped me correct the fats and fades. I got back on your site yesterday to get more lessons and you are waitlisted! Love to see it, lots of golfers are about to improve

I’ve been watching Thomas‘s videos for a while and they’ve all been good. Today I watched this video and then went to the driving range. I actually hit a driving range ball over 200 yards. With a 4-iron. 20 years ago I could hit my four iron 195 yards. I can’t wait to play golf this weekend. I recommend Tom’s videos to anyone that will listen to me even if they don’t play golf.

I've spent a mint in private classes, training gadgets (remember the Straight Stick?) and it doesn't come close to how my game has improved by simply watching your FREE lessons. Part of my day now consists of watching your videos and IMMEDIATELY going to the range to apply what I've learned. I was dedicating a seemingly eternity practicing the wrong technique with frustrating results and now I'm actually using the time to improve and to have the knowledge to self-correct. Many, many thanks!

Live lessons rock! Putting your golf instructions into play always requires some tweaking or fine tuning…something in the swing generally needs an insightful swing thought to have more consistency as we play golf. Just a tweak here or there can make a world of difference. And that puts a smile on my face.
Larry-San Diego: Tom what an incredible series of instructional videos featuring "Live Lesson" with current Sagutogolf students. It helps us viewing your content online truly understand your coaching philosophy in more detail, Keep them coming!

YES! Once we've got our relationship with the ball established and maintained, we just need to take it around with the shoulders. It's that simple. Pound with around. Frown with down.....😎 Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Tom

Tom, this is THE BEST and I have watched and read a lot of stuff. I took this to the range last night and was striping the ball with all clubs, the right shoulder was my missing link exactly like your pupil. Cheers mate! Tom, Scotland

Tommy boy, love you way of teaching us hackers how to better our game. I would love to watch you give real-time instruction to people who are like me-not so good. I typically shoot an 85 to 92. Love to see their before swing/ball flight then show you fixing them. It’s better to see “one of us” swing rather than you who is very good/very consistent. Thank you for all you do to teach us and inject humor. Dan

Great lesson Tom with your student Dave! I have been working a lot with my shoulder, and I think I have been dropping it instead of moving it under the chin as you pointed out in this video! A change is about to happen for me! Well Done Tom and Dave!!
Glad you enjoyed it, John! Once we have established our relationship with the ball and are able to preserve it through the motion, rotating the shoulders is the key to repeatable, powerful, ball striking bliss. Yes - Dave did an excellent job in this lesson, and I'm glad to know that it's going to benefit you as well! Tom
I like feeling my lead shoulder drop at the start of the downswing and then keeping the trail shoulder high for as long as possible during the rest of the downswing in order to counteract my tendency to drop the trail shoulder too far too soon. GREAT VIDEO!!!

Great lesson! When I set up to hit a shot my right elbow is close to my body and my left arm is straight. I learned that from a previous lesson. Works great to keep the right arm close on back swing. Great stuff!

Excellent lesson. A little higher level with a student who had some good golf mechanic questions. Applicable for me - detaching the upper body from the lower is a current challenge for sure. Will save this one for the future for sure.

Well, Charles - there's a reason for that..... You see, I am both a Class A PGA Professional *_and_* a Certified Stack and Tilt Instructor. 😎 Here is the story of my "conversion": th-cam.com/video/PM8lNNrMPEk/w-d-xo.html And here is an episode documenting my week at S&T Instructor Camp in Miami: th-cam.com/video/m9qdPOzYUWU/w-d-xo.html This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world. I give all credit where it is due - including Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett for analyzing and interpreting the science, and to those who preceded them with their empirical observations of the game's best ball strikers and all their subsequent chalkboard number-crunching. I just do my best to take what they have built and convey it in my own simplified teaching style, and as a result thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives through my online school's step-by-step lessons and drills, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. I suffer from a lot of the same things as Dave here, especially the right knee/right shoulder dipping down. Definitely need to rewatch this a few times and try to get those feels down. It was amazing how fast he took to the feels you were giving him! You could hear the difference in sound in both the club "woosh" (not releasing early) and the compression he made.

Really helpful to see these kind of lessons Would be really amazing to see more about trail shoulder and shoulder turn. I feel like every second s&t golfer had or has this kind of Problem.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Incomplete and/or improper shoulder action is not an issue specific to Stack and Tilt. If anything, the S&T setup and motion encourages a full and proper turn. It is certainly endemic within the "shift and lift" realm, however. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks! I couldn’t put it (Stack n Tilt) all together until I saw the previous lesson; straighter trail leg. This lesson honed in on that too, where I could see the actual difference when traditional swings take over this portion. The other great moment of this video is “around and not down”. Unbelievable distance, trajectory, and direction. I’m not only sold on S & T but on Tom Saguto! If you are not subscribed to his channel, I have one question for you. Why not!?
I'm very glad to know that these videos connected those dots for you, Don. Yes - the improvements in ball striking and shot shape were dramatic for both Derek and Dave, and I'm pleased to learn that you experienced the same! Thanks for your validating remarks and your support - I sincerely appreciate it!! Tom
Awesome, Mark!! I’m very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play. Thanks so much for your support in sharing your improvement and keep up the great work!! 💪💪 Tom Saguto, PGA

Hey Tom, This lesson is real gold for me, I’m a member of your fantastic online school, but this live lesson really showed me I need much more round and less down with that trail shoulder and keep the hips quiet, and that trail leg straighter too.
I'm very glad to know that this lesson clicked with you and provided additional clarity to what you are learning in the school, Pete! Thanks for sharing that and keep up the great work!! Tom

Good video. I have some similar problems. Was also confused on how the shoulders rotate. On tv, always looked liked the pros were driving the trail shoulder down to the ground.(surf birding it) I kept burying my driver into the ground, even while keeping the trail wrist cupped. Going around, does seem weird, but allows me not to slam the driver into the ground Thanks Tom. You start giving lessons, or busy with your on line videos etc? Excellent. He just needs to oxygenate his swing, a little; but, right arm depth, on the way back; and, right clavicle movement thru towards the target, are key. One other great drill you can is to just simply hold your right arm out with your elbow in front of your hand. This helps you to lever your right arm all the way back. And, if you then just simply place your left hand on the club as you swing thru, it will actually make sure your right arm starts down correctly and your right clavicle turns thru. Obviously, it is a good idea to do this drill without a club, to begin with.
Story for you Tom I’ve played golf for 50 odd years 6.5 best handicapp putting and chipping made my game irons and driver crap but I spent hundreds of pounds on various golf pros and never ever told about hogan and saguto is one hell of a teacher so much so me at 72 will be back practicing for 2025 you are the best
Thank you so much for sharing that, James! I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!! To this end, I encourage you to have a look at the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school. One does not need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. As such, for so many this swing system is golf's version of the Fountain of Youth, and the results speak for themselves. 😎 Thank you again for your support in sharing your rekindled enthusiasm. Hey Tom. Been golfing over 45 years. Fully committed to your system less than a month ago. Shooting in the low 70s consistently. The one question i have is, and i dont know if its because my weight is forward, i will hit an occasional hossel rocket with irons. Any thoughts? Thanks
Glad to have you onboard, Mitchell, and nice playing!! 💪💪 Your occasional shanks can be the result of a variety of actions: 1) You may be too steep on the downswing and thereby exposing the hosel to the ball; 2) Conversely, your downswing path may be too in to out; 3) You may be rolling the face open or snatching the club inside with the hands in the takeaway; 4) Your wrists may not be hinging properly (which is often the case when a golfer tries to manufacture or force the hinge rather than just allowing it to happen); 5) You are setting up with the ball positioned at the heel of the club; 6) You are losing your pre-established relationship with the ball (i.e.: a deficiency in the Tilt component); 7) More... What I'm getting at is that there are a number of potential causes, and without actually seeing your swing it's impossible for me to identify the culprit behind those hosel rockets. By the way, if you've not already joined have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying/resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise, plus advanced level instruction, and much more. Thanks Tom Shot in the 60's only a handful of times, but using your system I think I am headed in that direction. Even my chipping has gotten more consistent. Thanks for all you do!

Tom I keep coming back to ur system. Simple and direct concept. My problem is those hooks. I don’t roll my hands. It seems like a closed face to the path. Any suggestions
Well, first of all I'd say you would do best to settle on a single system and stop bouncing back and forth between various methods. There's just too much conflicting swing information out there, and trying to mix and match typically breeds chronic frustration. Now, there are just too many potential variables and unknowns for me to offer an accurate diagnosis/fix regarding a particular golfer's hooking tendencies without actually seeing their swing. For example, if your path was previously too steep and you were making compensations to prevent the ball from slicing off the planet - perhaps a very strong grip or setting up with a closed face - then those compensations could certainly result in a hook if you have successfully corrected your path. Other things to consider are your ball position is too far forward, your hands are too far back, your weight is not forward enough at impact, and more.... Ultimately, the answer lies in ball flight laws. Clubface angle relative to target line at impact is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. From there you can then do some reverse engineering to identify and neutralize the cause of a sideways shot. By the way, there are entire sections of my online school dedicated to diagnosing and resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you considered it as an alternative to the KFC Club? The school is also where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Thanks Eric - I'm glad you enjoyed the video analysis and I appreciate the shout out in that regard! Now.....get to work!!! 😎 Yours in KFCrispiness, Tom
I'm glad that clicked with you, David! In this drill - which we refer to as the "bowler drill" or "skateboard drill" in the online school - we drop the trail foot back to quiet the hips and enhance the feel of the shoulders driving the motion. I've actually played entire rounds using this drill when I've sensed that my hips were getting a bit too active! I am confused……In your online school, you empathize pointing the target side shoulder towards the ball, and the same with the trail shoulder on the follow through. At 14:31 in this video, you encourage the student to keep the trail shoulder high. Please explain.
It is a "feel". As long as we retain our relationship with the ball/ground the "feel" of a level trail shoulder is still going to have it working under the chin through the zone. In general terms I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as the comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform of the online school. As such, if you are presently enrolled in the school then I strongly recommend adhering to that structured, sequential curriculum as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my TH-cam content. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Thanks, Tom Saguto, PGA
Tom, years ago you were teaching the Ben Hogan method. I recently bought his book and he says to move the hips first in the downswing. But you’re saying to move the shoulders first?
There's a lot of great information in that book, but there have also been many misinterpretations that have led numerous golfers - and their ball flight - astray. I do my best to take what Mr. Hogan conveyed in the book as his "feels", apply it to the reality of what he actually did in his swing, and translate it into something we all can learn well from. In general terms, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my TH-cam content. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. For example, when properly deployed in sequence our hips play a role in preserving our downswing path and they can certainly provide a power boost. When prematurely rotated, all bets are off. For example, the lateral targetward action of the hips acts as a governor on the rotational component, thereby enabling the player to keep their upper torso square and their swing center intact without having to fight their body. It's also a move that you will notice with every great ball striker. (Cue up a face-on video of any Tour player - Mr. Hogan included - put your finger, mouse pointer, or some other reference tool on their lead hip at address, and then observe the extent to which the hips move laterally past your pointer in the downswing while - and this is key - the head and thus the swing center remains in place.) This will occur naturally if we allow it to, but unfortunately the misguided "fire the hips" notion has plagued so many amateurs with an early-onset spinout that makes them steep and across the line, or they get stuck, early extend, flip, etc. For them, the "feel" of the shoulders leading will help in overcoming this, correctly engaging their hips and fixing their path, thereby leading them to a solid, "crispy" impact condition. Here are some of my channel's videos specific to the proper hip action: - th-cam.com/video/Us6jSgMvJmM/w-d-xo.html - th-cam.com/video/dB4ItR3guGU/w-d-xo.html - th-cam.com/video/I5XYgKopTb4/w-d-xo.html And while I certainly have other content that addresses this topic, a more structured option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lessons and drills, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - now enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

Tom Help me out with concepts. Here you are emphasizing freeing / separating the shoulders from the hips. In past videos using Ben Hogan it was emphasized to use your hips to bring your shoulders around as a unit initially then thrust your arms through and around to strike the ball. Am I confused?
When properly deployed in sequence our hips play a role in preserving our downswing path and they can certainly provide a power boost. When prematurely rotated, all bets are off. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of the school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. What’s your take on golf swing shirt ?? It seems it would be a good aid to Turing shoulders more efficiently while incorporating other drills you gave in this video !!!!
While I have not personally tried it, if it enables you to ingrain and consistently achieve the connections and structure needed to allow the shoulders to properly drive the motion, then I would be supportive of incorporating it into your practice. Tom
Is there such thing as to far inside? When I use stack and tilt I feel I hit the ball to right field and miss fairway or I hit a duck hook. 1 out of 6 I will hit it flush. And bring me back again. It's been like this for 15 years. What stops the pushes and the hook? Thanks
Of course there is, Jonathan! If we keep ourselves centered, retain our preset connections, and allow the lead shoulder to work downward (the "tilt" component), then the arms will naturally elevate without the need for any independent lifting action. This will prevent the club from getting "stuck" too far behind us - as can happen with a shoulder turn that is too flat and/or if we snatch or roll the club to the inside with the hands - and instead we will have the lead arm in a great position to transition into an ideal downswing path. In fact, pay close attention while you watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA
Man I love the way you explain things. I’ll be in Pawleys Island this weekend. Do you give in person lessons by chance? I’m a high 90s-100 player and I’m trying to gain consistency.
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. I had taken a hiatus from in-person lessons in order to reappropriate my time to online school upgrades and enhancements, and I'm not quite ready to resume them yet. You will find lesson information here as my schedule starts to clear: saguto.golf/lessons. @@SagutoGolf I’m only going for the weekend these next couple of weeks, my parents usually rent a place at Pawleys Pier Village. I’ll be sure to check your band out one of these days! I live in NC about 2 hours from Murrels Inlet!
AWESOME! Should be a rather comfortable evening at the PIT this evening as it is not nearly as hot and sticky as usual for this time of year. Be sure to come up and introduce yourself during our set break!! Tom
@@SagutoGolf I made it out to see you Tuesday. I couldn’t say hi during your set break because you had too many people talking to you. You’re just too popular. It was great to see you shred though. Got a pretty good photo of you. I’ll send it to you if there’s an email I can send it to.
holy shit just watched that video and thought this guy has exactly the same problems as me. Practiced once on the range and 2 days later I played a tournament. Played one over. Best tournament round in my life.... Thank you sir!!
AWESOME - congrats on a fantastic round under tournament pressures!! 💪💪 I’m very glad to know that this video documenting Dave's lesson resonated with you; excellent job incorporating those elements into your swing and putting it into play. This is great 👍🏻 … eye opening 😳 Everyone (including you) says “TILT” … on the backswing. I always thought that also meant TILT on the downswing too 🙅🏼♂️ But “more AROUND, less DOWN” on the downswing makes so much more sense 🤦🏼♂️ A friend of mine talks about taking huge divots. Why? … more AROUND, less DOWN ☝🏻 Thanks (again), Tom 🙏🏻 Keep it crispy “Saguto Master” 😂 (in the Comments) … I love it
Thanks Mike - I'm glad this lesson clicked with you! YES - as long as we preserve our relationship with the ball we are going to have the appropriate amount of tilt in the downswing. Problems occur when we try to force more tilt or - in Dave's case in this lesson - the shoulders are not working properly. What a difference once we got that fixed, right??!! Yours in KFCrispiness, Tom
If capable and not restricted by physical limitations, trail shoulder retraction in the backswing and lead shoulder retraction into the finish are certainly important elements for path, power, and consistency. I’ve been following your instructions, Tom. I then downloaded the golf fix app and it says I’m inside the plane every swing. Can you make a video describing proper plane path at the beginning of the swing?
Actually, I have posted numerous videos on that topic. With regard to different sources of swing information (including the app you referenced), please be careful in navigating the muddied, overly-complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. That is not a dig against any other teachers out there. Tom
Always centered. We address the ball stacked shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips one inch towards the target while keeping everything else in place. This presets a little more weight forward while preserving the stacked relationship. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom
If you look at the swings of the legends of the game, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and more, they all took the club inside on the takeaway. All of them. This is and always has been the most reliable way to swing the club. It makes the swing automatic. It becomes a "set it and forget it" swing. Ron Popeil would be proud I just said that! 😂
LOL! Yes - I believe he would be!! The senseless disruption of the natural geometry of the golf swing by those in the instruction realm who thought they new better really made a mess of things for generations of golfers, right??? Consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of modern “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness, and I appreciate your validating "Popeilian" remarks in that regard!! 😎 Tom

Your observation is correct, Paul, but it is all part of the same swing system and there is no conflict. You see, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. Any chance you could post a video of a person making an actual swing that is casting or “has an early release”. I have watched plenty of videos saying not to do it, or what it looks like in static positions, but can’t find a single swing recorded of an honest to goodness cast to compare my swing to. I suspect the search for lag is producing a “too late release” and my “early release” feel is actually correct.

Dan

Tom, what a lesson, keep them coming.
Thanks Bill - I'm glad you enjoyed it!! I'll be certain to revisit this format again in the future as the response has been overwhelmingly favorable.
Tom
Nice job understanding and counteracting your tendencies, Bill! And thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed the episode!!

Great lesson! When I set up to hit a shot my right elbow is close to my body and my left arm is straight. I learned that from a previous lesson. Works great to keep the right arm close on back swing. Great stuff!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Tony, and nice job with that trail elbow tuck!!

Excellent lesson. A little higher level with a student who had some good golf mechanic questions. Applicable for me - detaching the upper body from the lower is a current challenge for sure. Will save this one for the future for sure.

It’s got a very Stack and Tilt theme to the swing. I use a modified version of S&T and it does help ball contact. Great work Tom.
Well, Charles - there's a reason for that..... You see, I am both a Class A PGA Professional *_and_* a Certified Stack and Tilt Instructor. 😎 Here is the story of my "conversion": th-cam.com/video/PM8lNNrMPEk/w-d-xo.html And here is an episode documenting my week at S&T Instructor Camp in Miami: th-cam.com/video/m9qdPOzYUWU/w-d-xo.html
This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world.

I'm very glad to know that this video documenting Dave's lesson resonated with you, Ken, and I hope the instructional details contained therein serve your swing well when you put them into practice! Yes - Dave did indeed do a fabulous job and his degree of ball striking improvement was off the charts, but the main point is that this dramatic transformation is possible for anyone who is willing to put in the _proper_ work.

Speaking of the online school, if you'd really like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, please consider joining. Really helpful to see these kind of lessons
Would be really amazing to see more about trail shoulder and shoulder turn.
While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

Hey Tom, This lesson is real gold for me, I’m a member of your fantastic online school, but this live lesson really showed me I need much more round and less down with that trail shoulder and keep the hips quiet, and that trail leg straighter too.

Good video. I have some similar problems. Was also confused on how the shoulders rotate. On tv, always looked liked the pros were driving the trail shoulder down to the ground.(surf birding it)
I kept burying my driver into the ground, even while keeping the trail wrist cupped. Going around, does seem weird, but allows me not to slam the driver into the ground
Thanks Tom.

Great video Tom! I don’t think about the hips - if you move the shoulders they move naturally. Is this OK?
Yes, David - that is absolutely okay as detailed in my reply to your other message on this topic.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I appreciate you sharing the supporting information and drill!!

To this end, I encourage you to have a look at the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school. That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. 😎
Thank you again for your support in sharing your rekindled enthusiasm. Let's make 2025 your best ball striking year and we'll then see just how low you can go with that excellent short game!!

Your occasional shanks can be the result of a variety of actions: 1) You may be too steep on the downswing and thereby exposing the hosel to the ball; 2) Conversely, your downswing path may be too in to out; 3) You may be rolling the face open or snatching the club inside with the hands in the takeaway; 4) Your wrists may not be hinging properly (which is often the case when a golfer tries to manufacture or force the hinge rather than just allowing it to happen); 5) You are setting up with the ball positioned at the heel of the club; 6) You are losing your pre-established relationship with the ball (i.e.: a deficiency in the Tilt component); 7) More...
Dropping the trail foot allows the shoulders to rotate thru freely was a gem - never thought about that!

Here are some of my channel's videos specific to the proper hip action:

Help me out with concepts.

This is great 👍🏻
… eye opening 😳
Everyone (including you) says “TILT”
… on the backswing.
I always thought that also meant TILT on the downswing too 🙅🏼♂️
But “more AROUND, less DOWN” on the downswing makes so much more sense 🤦🏼♂️
A friend of mine talks about taking huge divots. Why?
… more AROUND, less DOWN ☝🏻
Thanks (again), Tom 🙏🏻

Thanks Mike - I'm glad this lesson clicked with you!
YES - as long as we preserve our relationship with the ball we are going to have the appropriate amount of tilt in the downswing. Problems occur when we try to force more tilt or - in Dave's case in this lesson - the shoulders are not working properly. What a difference once we got that fixed, right??!!
Yours in KFCrispiness,

How important is it to separate the shoulders from chest via retraction/protraction?
If capable and not restricted by physical limitations, trail shoulder retraction in the backswing and lead shoulder retraction into the finish are certainly important elements for path, power, and consistency.

Crispy golf slacks Tom. But have you thought about Sansabelts? Jack Nicholas and I are trying to bring them back.
LOL! I appreciate that and am actually working with that company to get a SagutoGolf apparel line in my store.
As for your beltless joint venture with the Golden Bear, I wish you all the best! 😆😆
I wish I could do this but I’m trying to copy this but can’t lol I’m also left handed so which hand do I pull down with or I just need help lol
Methinks the online school is calling your name......loudly........😎
Start with the free mini course that I've referenced previously (if you've not already done so), and we'll go from there:
Mini Course: go.saguto.golf/
Online School: saguto.golf
Let's get you out of that abyss and onto the path towards consistently crispy ball striking bliss!!

I got a question when your weight is on front do you move your head or keep it centered
Always centered. We address the ball stacked shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips one inch towards the target while keeping everything else in place. This presets a little more weight forward while preserving the stacked relationship.

Tom
This was me until today. I love the simplicity. Pure shot after pure shot on the range today. Thank you!🤘🤘
Awesome!! I appreciate knowing that this video documenting Dave's lesson resonated with you, and I am glad to hear that the instructional details contained therein are performing well for you.
Thanks for sharing your dramatic ball striking improvement and keep up the great work!! 💪💪

PS: By the way, since my lesson content is performing well for you, I am confident you will also benefit from my FREE mini course - “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ If you haven't already worked through it, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the structured learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews
Tom, I think I’ve you do videos where the left hip moves to the target. Is this different?
Your observation is correct, Paul, but it is all part of the same swing system and there is no conflict. You see, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next.
Would you like to learn some key aspects of the swing I teach in a more structured manner? If so, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to my formal instruction style.

@@SagutoGolf thx for quick response. i struggle with hitting at the ball and hanging on the back side so i wanted to make sure. i think my "chicken wing" also is partially a result of not finishing the shoulder turn and i think this lesson will help with that. good content as always.
I want one on one TS lessons!
I appreciate that! If truly interested and you have not already done so, please sign up for my email list at go.saguto.golf/ as that is how I will be communicating updates on lesson options and availability as I move toward resuming one-on-one instruction. (I had taken a hiatus from in-person lessons in order to reappropriate my time to online school upgrades and enhancements.)

Hi Brian,
Here is a video from my channel's archives on early extension/casting: th-cam.com/video/RPBhaX_ILoE/w-d-xo.html Perhaps this may help.
Beyond that, the Precision Impact that I’ve demonstrated in various lesson videos including this one - th-cam.com/video/hVxTSCNRroo/w-d-xo.html - is an excellent training aid that will help you to neutralize the cause and overcome this issue. I highly recommend it. If interested you can get your Precision Impact Trainer here - pureswingproducts.com/SagutoGolf In fact, they are running an extra-special offer for SagutoGolfers right now! Use code SAGUTOGOLF at checkout for $40 OFF and Free Shipping. This massive discount expires 7/31/2024.
