Thanks for posting, and for being honest. When you mentioned the side hole in the bottom jet, I was elated cause my 214 has been giving me fuel system problems, and I didn't clean out that hole. Because, (like you mentioned) there isn't one. My inlet needle keeps sticking, and shutting down the fuel. I'll be pulling it out today.
Try to use brake cleaner not carb cleaner cuz carb cleaner will eat paint, & eat at rubber seals. Just don’t get the ORilieys brake cleaner cuz it’ll eat paint a tad. The one from autozone won’t. So I I didn’t mention in the video the the bowl needs to come off, the rod/needs & seat come out, then mark w a sharpie where the center nedle is on the carb before you remove. It’s 2-1/2 turns out after fully in, the needle needs to come out first before the jet is removed.
@@michaelbenoit248 Thanks again for your tips. After cleaning out the carb., the motor still wouldn't start. Why? Because this time, (not like B4), the fuel pump quit. I pulled it apart, to see if the diaphragm was ruptured. It wasn't, so I sprayed the check valves in it with carb cleaner, and blew it all dry with air, and after re-assembly, it now runs....again. For how long? Only time will tell.
Hi, I’m MikeJD60 but on my other account. I’m I When I had the stock carburetor on the tractor it did run fine like that, but be careful running it really lean tho, you can overheat the engine & melt a piston. When you have the carburetor off check the theottle linkage, if it’s got an insane amount of play in the open position & you can see an indent in the carb on the top hole where the linkage goes through. Over time things wear out & need to be replaced. I ended up replacing the carburetor & it use way lass fuel, these newer carbs are more efficient. On all my old machines I have new carburetors, the old carbs work, but there still 30-50yrs old, & things like that don’t last forever. On these old carburetors, if you have any issue right after it’s been cleaned or cleaning doesn’t make a difference, just buy the ISaveTractors carburetor, but hold on to the throttle linkage. I ended up using the old one since the new one wouldn’t fit right. Thanks for watching, hope you get it going again!
Wire brushing it would help

@@michaelbenoit248 original john deere carbs are way to expensive . did you buy a 20 or 30 dollar Chinese made carb?
For heaven’s sake, young lad....just use the appropriate size of wrench.
Adjustable wrench is a last-resort kind of tool.
