    Hi PT,
I found this video very interesting & I would like to share with you an easy way to get the variator pulley apart with out having to locate or make the special wrench.
I have 2 JD 110 round fenders that I have rebuilt & have an extra variator that I wanted to take apart & clean up to have for a spare.
I used 2, 3/8" X 1" steel dowel pins. If you have a bench vise with at least 4"-5" long jaws. Put the dowel pins in the vise spacing them 2 3/4" apart & protruding up above the jaws 3/8", (I was able to get one snug to hold in place then put the other in the jaws, snug that one & tap with a small hammer to get the height & distance apart.)
Once that is obtained tighten the vise good & put the variator side without the bracket onto the dowels, (tap into place if needed.
Using a 6 or 8 inch piece of about 3/8" hex or round brass for a drift, I steadied the variator on top of the vise while also holding the drift with my left hand & gave 6 or 8 good raps with a heavy ball peen hammer. At this point I was able to spin the outer pulley half off by hand. The hardest part was getting the 2 dowels in position in the vise. After this was accomplished it only took a max of 10 minutes to get it apart.
I hope this explanation is helpful. I was all ready to make up a couple of the wrenches as you suggested but realized I would probably have to hammer on them to get the variator apart anyway, so I figured I would give the dowel pin & vise idea a shot.
    Have a Great Summer.

    Hey PT,
I am having a little trouble with my 1965 John Deere 110. I had been on a long vacation and had it sitting in my garage, and when I went to start it, It would not start. It would only fire and then die if I sprayed some starting fluid or carburetor cleaner in it. I then decided to take the carburetor off and clean it. When I went to put it back on, it would start and run for about 5 minutes on full choke. If I took the choke off, it would die. Then after a few times of it running on choke, it will only run on the lower half of the throttle speed. If you move the engine speed up to fast, it sputters badly and dies. I don't know what it could be! I am starting to suspect the glass fuel bowl needs cleaning or replacing. It looks kind of dirty.

spencer bell first thing clean all the old fuel out of tank bowl and lines. Run some clean fuel through the lines but keep in mind there may be varnish in the jets that will need to be ckeaned out also. Make videosxas you figure it out and share them with us on YT.

I took the bowl off and it was stuffed with dirt. I cleaned it out and put it back on. Put some fresh gas in and it started right up!

That sounds like the same problem I am having with my 212. Are the variators similar in the two machines? Thanks
