    Happy New Year Everyone! Today, on Low Carb Love, we are making the most requested recipe for the new year, KETO KFC FRIED CHICKEN! The easy is incredibly easy to follow along and it so delicious and moist! Leave a comment below if you'd like an Extra Crispy Version 💕
    Keto KFC Fried Chicken:
    Servings: 10
    Ingredients:
    1.5-2 Pounds Skin on chicken, cut into pieces
    1 eggs
    1/2 cup heavy cream
    Plastic bag
    1 1/2 cups almond flour
    1 tablespoon tapioca flour
    1 teaspoon of baking powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tbsp paprika
    ½ teaspoon xanthan gum
    ½ teaspoons garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
    1/2 teaspoon dried basil
    ½ teaspoon white pepper
    ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
    Avocado oil for frying
    *Allow the chicken to dry for at least 30 minutes or up to 1 hour.
    Directions:
    1. Rinse the chicken pieces with cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Make sure your chicken is as dry as possible.
    2. In a shallow bowl, beat the eggs with the milk, and stir. Soak the chicken in the milk mixture for 30 minutes in the fridge, this tenderizes the chicken.
    3. Combine the flour and spices (if using) a large bowl . Add the chicken pieces, a few at a time, and shake to coat completely in the flour. Shake off any excess and set the chicken aside on a rack to dry.
    4. Pour the oil into a deep skillet or deep fryer and heat it to 350 degrees F. Add chicken thighs and legs and cook for several minutes.
    5. Add other chicken pieces being careful not to overcrowd skillet. Continue cooking, turning once, until chicken pieces are golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels and serve warm or at room temperature.

    Try using sour cream with a squeeze of lemon juice, instead of heavy cream. It will help to tenderize your chicken if you leave it for a couple hours and it will give it that tart flavor that buttermilk would have without the carbs.

      @@nightshade5227 Just checked. Here’s what I found: Regular, full fat sour cream is made from cream and contains far more fat than carbs. Therefore, it's considered keto-friendly. However, low fat or nonfat sour cream is not.

    I made this for hubs who has been "keto" since January 4th. HE WAS IN HEAVEN!!! And if I hadn't tried it myself, I wouldn't have believed it tasted like KFC!       Add intermittent fasting. The weight will fall off. Also HIIT exercise. There are a lot of great 4 and 5 minute hiit sessions on TH-cam.

    We like honey mustard,ranch and bbq sauce. Fried chicken is my son's favorite,I'm going to try this. He has to lose weight or do surgery, this is to get pressure off the spinal cord. We just found out he has congenital spine issues. If you pray please keep him in your prayers .

      There are some excellent low carb bbq sauces out there: G. Hughes and Guy's Award-winning are two that I like a lot. Lots of grocery stores carry the first one.

      @Riderhard Yes, tapioca starch is a high carb item but the recipe literally has 1 tablespoon of it (7g carbs) divided by 10 servings. Not a significant amount of carbohydrates at all.

    If you want to keep the almond flour from burning, you can use sous vide to cook the chicken at 145ºF (for dark meat, or 140º for white meat) and start with the "cooked" chicken. Then you can pull it out of the oil whenever you like the surface.
    I worked at KFC in another life, and they way they made the extra crispy was by dunking it again after putting it in the breading, then breading it a second time.

      Agreed totally! I do the same, except I do low carb not completely keto, since I enjoy one slice of sprout bread toast each day, but I am quite careful of my calorie intake as well. It was has been working beautifully, and the best part is I don't feel deprived which means it will be much easier to stick with as a long term goal.

      Temperature and time for the air fryer will depend on your machine settings. My Cosori air fryer calls for 380 degrees F and between 20-30 minutes for chicken thighs.

    GIRL you did it again on this fried chicken recipe. I made as directed the spices are on POINT! But, I air FRIED! It took a couple of times but I finally got mine crispy and looks like yours! Oh it cooks best with organic thighs juicy and so flavorful! YUMMY! And… oh yes, I’m OBSESSED! We had cauliflower Mac and cheese, fresh green beans with red onions and bacon balsamic vinaigrette plus, a big arugula and parm side salad for my hubby! The STAR OF THE MEAL OF COURSE WAS YOUR CHIX! 😋😝👍🏻❤️

    Frying it in pork lard makes it even more delicious..😋
    I know this for keto KFC like,
    but if you try it without breading, with the skin left on and fry it in pork lard until it's crispy brown and then season it when it is done...YUM!

    Amazing!!! Cooked this tonight, 2 versions. One with chicken as you made it for my other half who doesn't do keto and one for me substituting the chicken with Quorn fillets as I'm veggie. My other half said its exactly the same if not better than KFC as it tasted clean and healthy. I've never eaten KFC and loved it. The flavours are great! Other half has just wandered in the room again and is still talking about it, he said it was supreme and probably the best chicken I've ever cooked 😁. Thank you SOOOOO MUCH!!!! 😍

    I just finished eating these, and it was so good. I used chicken tenders instead, they were nicely breaded on the outside, and so juicy on the inside. I had to fry two batches, my second batch got some dark crumbs stuck on it from the first batch, if you want to avoid that empty the pan out and put some new oil, but I was too lazy. This recipe was perfect, thanks for making keto enjoyable 😀

    This looks amazing! Mayra I think that MAYBE if the “breading” is put in the fridge for a while too so that it also gets cold, that might help get them even crispier. Like with tostones lol. When you put them in ice water before you fry them (and dry them off first of course) how they come out crispier. It might be the same effect with the breading. It looks just like the original kfc for real! Excellent job!

      @@reneebradley660 I don’t think that is true she doesn’t have to claim them as her own but just compile a lot of different keto recipes.. if it were true then ALOT of people have committed plagiarism. You can compile a lot of different recipes as long as you list credits 🤷‍♀️

Are you saying that every Keto TH-camr has to come up with their very own recipes and not just sharing some strategies of good tasting food for variety? I’m confused.. this is legit not being condescending I just can’t believe all of these people have made their own recipes up because I see similar ones on all different channels

    So I made this yesterday (I used air fryer oven) and I added extra paprika and chili powder to the dry mix. I only had one problem... it was so delicious that I kind of still felt hungry after dinner...😪( I just wanted more!) Next time I make this, I am going to fry the chicken (and make an extra pack) maybe it will be more filling that way 😋 super delicious ty 😁

    Folks need to be careful.with tapioca flour. Only 1/3 cup has a whopping 104g of carbs (carb manager figures). Yes,.your recipe has a small amount of this flour, but viewers need to be careful not to use it in excess.
    That aside, I can't wait to try the recipe...just made grilled shrimp.this past week with your marinade recipe. Hmmm, good! It was a hit!

      I use coconut flour as a substitute hopefully that works. Yeah tapioca comes from cassava which is very high in carbs like higher than white potatoes

    So glad you mentioned about being mindful of the amount of calories in addition to the low carbs.
    Always amazes me that people doing keto but still over eat consuming 5,000 calories and wander why the keto diet isn't working for them.
    Keto is a great diet and tool for losing weight, but its not magic. Ultimately no matter what diet you follow, at the end of the day you need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight.

      Our bodies don't have a clue what calories are. They were created entirely in a lab, and measure the energy when a food/nutrient is burned. It is totally possible to eat too much energy on a keto diet, but if you're not losing weight, it's because you're eating too much of the nutrients that cause insulin responses.
