In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens th-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
You guys are awesome. God Bless both of you. Thank you for dressing so conservative and having zero profanity!!! I have two little girls 6 and 8 years old they love watching and learning from you guys as I do. Thank you for getting my children excited about fishing (that helps me get them in the boat). Keep the videos coming we love you guys!! Phil. 4:13
I love it when you tubers know how to produce a quality instructional video. Others should watch your channel to learn how to do this. Straight to the point, excellent audio and video. Good job you two!
I have been fishing all my life , in fact I can be your great grandfather , but let me tell you , I have learned so much from you guys that I am always looking from your videos . Keep it up
Appreciate videos like this. New boat owner and your videos are so helpful with things like this. Not many take time to explain the basics. Keep ‘em coming
I love this teaching videos you girls make. I am staring to introduce my daughters ( 5 and 4) to fishing and you definitely making me look like I know what I am doing
My wife and I are going to be moving to Florida as soon as our commitments are fulfilled in Indiana. We've never owned a boat but we love to fish and are planning to immerse ourselves in the florida life. Your tutorials have been a great confidence builder for our future plans. Thank you so much.
Great tutorial! Y’all should try the relief shading that garmin offers, it will show more in detail, definitely worth it and make this a lot easier for yall
Captains, I've never heard a better explanation. A visual on a screen is a reflection, not necessarily a keeper catch? There's fish, Yes. But.... don't spend all day playing there, 45 - 60 minutes is enough time too figure it out. An true, not all , keepers will bite? Bait, presentation, and surface conditions will all be involved. You both are a wealth of knowledge too so many, keep up the excellent channel .....
Great video. I never have heard anyone explain the up and down of the bottom profile being due to the waves and a great explanation of the frequencies and depth. Keep up the good work.
Enjoyed the hell out of this video. Even for someone who has minimal fishing experience, your explanations are easy to understand. I've been out on the water in Florida some but have never fished out there- looks like a blast. Thank you both for the super fun content and look forward to more vids!
Great points you two made. Would beer awesome if you could make a video on hope your settings are for your bottom finder. Color palette, sensitivity etc. Keep up the great work
Great channel and thanks for sharing your knowledge! I have learned a lot about salt water fishing from you all -thank you. One recommendation that you may have already considered: create a store on Amazon and put your favorite lures, rods, reels, and other gear in the store. I think you get a commission from Amazon of the seller and it would help viewers like me identify and buy the gear your are praising like Island Lures. Keep the content coming!
I found this video very helpful. I use the fishing chart often and it does help find great areas. Is there a particular screen color you prefer that makes some readings easier? Maybe one day you can do a tutorial on side scan. Most people have issues knowing what they are seeing. Thanks to you both on great shows and very professional and entertaining presentations
I love the video! The fish finder has always been my downfall so my husband is always the one that uses it lol I have a video request for you as well. I am interested in seeing how you store your tackle (such as hooks for live bait fishing days) while on the boat as well as after you are home and cleaning up. We are in the Tampa area so fish the bay a lot and mainly use live bait. We cannot seem to find a good way to store hooks and such that stops them from rusting prematurely. We bring our tackle box inside after our fishing day and I try to clean things up after every trip but stuff still rusts. I'm at a loss lol
Bring back the old intro music! The new stuff is laaaaaammmmeeeeeee! Lol, seriously though, the old intro music always got me stoked to watch the videos.
The new intro music fits perfect. It sounds like a television broadcast into. It has everything in it. It builds at the front, it hits hard (creating excitement) and ends quick and hard but still soft.
@@growlith6969 unfortunately (for some reason we do not know) TH-cam flagged our old intro music, even though we owned the rights to it, so we hired someone to recreate a similar version 🥲
Fish finders have come a long way from the first Humminbird flasher unit my grandfather had in the 1970's. On my home lake, I use the chirp and regular sonar and can actually tell whether a school of fish are crappie, catfish or bass by the way it looks on the screen.
I'm sure you already know this but if you pass over something and want a more accurate mark you can: hit the pause button (bottom left of screen), pan back, tap the mark you like, and then mark that waypoint. If you just hit mark it will be past the area you want to go back to.
hi so first 2 minutes in you mentioned areas on the map to look. is it a good place to fish where the lines are super close to each other and the depth goes very quick ? i couldnt tell whether you explained it as being good or not a good spot to try ? thanks !
Amanda, Emily don't laugh, but this video gave me a headache 😫 , just want to relax and enjoy throwing out my line and get a bite, if it's a frenzied mark on GPS or remember spot location...more fun 😀😄😎😊#AFANALWAYS
Great video ladies, but I have a question. I always hear about low and high frequency but at which depths do they apply? Like when I get in like 50 or less is that considered shallow and I that's when I use high frequency? And is 50 plus feet considered deep water and I use low frequency idk which depths I should use it.
That will depend on the transducer. Normally, 50-100 ft is considered great for high frequency, but be aware that high usually has a much narrower beam than low (unless you have the newer HW transducers) so you cover a smaller area but get more detail. If you have a standard 50/200 just run both frequencies on split screen and see what works best for you.
just found your channel - first video I saw was the cat vs. mono...after you said I would take the cat all day I knew you were savvy. Anyways - as I was watching this video I noticed you had no weight on you line. Where you fishing the surface? What were you using as bait? Thank you in advance. Keep up the great work. Your videos are awesome and educational. (coming from a teacher.)
That was a really good explanation, thanks very much. One thing I like about Garmin is the ability to get a waypoint from the sonar history. You know the stuff to the left you called old data. You can pause the sonar, click on an old spot you like, and save a waypoint. I find this useful when I am fishing a longer ledge. I scout the most active spots on the ledge. After that, I set a waypoint for the one I like the most.
Great subject well explained. There's so many I know would love to see more on the fish Finder/plotter instruction and tips. You mentioned in a previous video about hitting the Mark button opposed to the old days when we used to hit MOB too quickly Mark a spot. We're between boats right now but purchased a new Garmin and we're utilizing the time to study in depth the functions. With no boat until July you tube is the only source but you girls explain the best. My question is can you mark an area to explore without inputing a full blown waypoint by just touching the screen or do you have to make waypoints then delete duds later..??? Do you use Google and preplan a trip with active captain or whatever app..??? Thank you girls.. excellent and would love to see more on this subject.. 😊
Good question and one I'd like to know more about too! At a _GUESS_ it's going to depend on both boat speed as you're searching and on the update speed of your sonar/fish-finder system. And that second factor will likely depend on the make of the display and user settings.
Ah I just realize yeah the bumps would be the boat going up and down on the waves. I never made that connection tho I down spend much time on the water.
Definitely not while we are fishing because of the chum in the water 🦈 but we have been diving and snorkeling at the same areas on separate occasions!!
Garmin has a great series (3 videos) on setting up your sonar. There are some settings you may find very useful that you are not using now. Totally agree with Capt Collier on the Garmin Relief Shading it is an add on card about $350 but worth it. Love your videos you too are great!! Making memories with kids. Good for the soul.
Fantastic video. I am 50 years old and don’t know much about these new fishfinders. This clarified a lot for me.

Good and informative video. The equipment you're using is really high end. What type transducer are you using with that?
