i think ill go fuck up my car radio tomorrow
Thanks a million. You made it really easy for me to replace my car radio. Job done in 10 mins. Really appreciate clear, demystifying video and instructions. Proved there was nothing to be afraid of...and the job's a good'un. Thank you
Everyone should make tutorials like this. Awesome job!
You can go to your local autoparts store, and ask them to direct you to the car stereo section. There you will find kits with make and models clearly listed on them. As far as a radio, any aftermarket radio will work, but with USB, you may have problems with amperage depending on what you're attaching. Pioneer, Alpine, Clarion, and Eclipse are high quality units. JVC, Kenwood, IR3, Blaupunkt, and the like, are lesser units.
super clean wiring and nice sturdy spot for that box too i see, its not like its just hanging in there or pulling/laying on wires or anything lol good luck TRYing to work in that console in the future and never forget the battery too
you forgot to mention in the beginning to disconnect your negative battery cable before you start so you don't fry your components or blow a fuse...
Hey thank you so much dude I'm doing this on my Mazda Miata 2001 and I plan on doing it myself

Hey Car & Driver, where do you buy that Black Box?
Ben, great video.
I did something like this yesterday so that I could give my old cd/mp3/radio to a friend who'se CD player was kaput.
I remembered that for some reason when it was first used by me it would ALWAYS start the cd from the start.
I am a senior citizen and my memory isn't what it was, I think :-)
It's a KENWOOD KD-SC601, I've tried searching all over I have even got on-line manual BUT no joy.
There must be an industry standard setting either Play CD from start OR resume.
Could you possibly help me/enlighten me.
Many thanks for taking time to read this.
Best wishes
Edward, Spain.
Ben, Thank you for the informational video. Have a20003 Honda Accord that was operating intermittently thinking it was a loose wire, now does come on at all. Need to replaced. Should I go to salvage yard and try to find Honda salvage or buy aftermarket. If so which one would you recommend from an ease of installation?

Last month my 2004 Expedition started making a loud "clack" sound
coming from the rear AC unit. It was annoying enough for me to bust
the unit open to see what was wrong. After doing this, I found that
the two flaps that direct the cool air throughout the cabin were
causing the noise. I took it to a mechanic who said that he'd have to
rip half the car apart to fix it. Can this be fixed at home, and if
not, what will it take to get the job done?
what about if its an old factory radio and you want to replace with someone that has an AUX port. does that need to be connected or it works once u connect the new radio ?
Hi, I'm having trouble fitting the stereo back in. The original L bracket had two screws into the frame (car) and two into the deck. These brackets screw into the deck about half way along which means I have to push the bracket for my new car stereo right back to fit flush. Then my stereo is nowhere near flush with my faceplate.
Any suggestions to mount it correctly?
Do you need to disconnect the negative battery cable before installing a new car stereo or not??
The plugs in my existing stereo are too tight too get off?! any suggestions how i could loosen them or any other options?

I am looking to replace the radio (which I updated back in 2007....so it isn't the original stock and I had pros replace it for me, so I am not sure what the wiring situation looks like). If the pros used a "black box" with the last radio install, can I continue to use that black box? I think the radio I have in there now is a JVC and I am looking to put in a Sony. Thanks!!

Hi Ben, can you're steroe fit in 'mazda 6 2003? :D
I own a car Honda Civic 2004 EX sedan model.
It has the Cassette adapter with in it. Before a week it was running good, But now its giving me wired sound like buzzing noise which is very terrible, that too its coming in the left speakers. But when it comes to CD player or FM/AM my stereo is working fine and all speakers are good to listen.
So am sure that there is no problem with speakers and players and the problem is with the cassette adapter. It should be a minor problem , but am not exactly sure.
Could you please let me know if this can be serviced at service station.
Or if you have a suggestion of installing.
Kool, what make radios stop working in cars?
Sorry if this sounds dumb but I’m new to car stuff. If my existent player is removable by clicking on a button, can I just attach a new one on the existing inner components or do I really have to take out the entire thing to replace it? Thank you
