My respect for Mortske has increased a hundredfold since his response on More Mortske Repair. If I’m a Wing Commander in Strategic Air Command, and his jacket comes across my desk with his recent report, I’m giving him a spot promotion for crew leadership, attention to detail, managing personnel, and carrying on with his mission. If there is an engineer the 8th Air Force needs to manage some B-52’s, Mortske is recommended. One condition. Name one of the Buffs... Duff!
Just got home from work. First order of business, thank all of you Veterans out there! My Dad served, Hospital Corpsman, USN, Korean War. Second order of business, watch this week’s edition of Mortske Repair 👍
I just bought a 1998 K1500 Silverado extended cab 4X4 with a Fisher snow plow for $200.00. 350 Automatic 79,000 original miles. Passenger side rocker and cab corner are rusted , the rest of the truck and undercarriage are really good. Runs like a brand new truck.
You can use your finger expander to straiten the turn down where it crushed ,start with whatever slides in the crushed and work your way up to the size you want.
Obs trucks are my thing. Including parts trucks, I’ve probably owned 40 or 50 over the years. I knew every hurdle you encountered. It’s the little details that will nickel and dime you to death. My latest is a ‘90 c1500 long bed to short bed conversion. I can tell you from experience , yours needs cab mounts. The body lines between the cab and bed are off and the door gaps on the passenger side is a dead five away. Look at how the front of the door and rear of the fender line up. Fat at the bottom, skinny at the top. Both tell tale signs of failing body mounts. I’ve actually seen them so sagged out that the shifter was jammed. Any how, good project. I enjoyed this series. Thanks. Peace.
The OBS pickups were a definite improvement in many ways. My first OBS was when I got my new 90 SS454. The 454's weren't exactly a powerhouse, but at the time, it was certainly an improvement over the 350 engines, and it didn't take long for the aftermarket to come out with parts that really brought the 454 to life... I've owned a 76 1/2 ton 4x4, a 75 3/4 ton 4x4, a 73 1/2 two wheel drive, and a 78 GMC 1 ton crew cab 4x4 with single rear wheels. I never had any complaints with them, but the GMC was my favorite. I spent almost a year completely restoring it. I built a real nice 406 for it, and even though it weighed almost 7800 pounds, it surprised several so called fast cars in town. I wish I would have kept it but I got the bug to get a new Dodge 4x4 with the Cummins engine, so I put an absolutely ridiculous price on it and sold it to a UPS driver. With the exception of my crew cab, one thing I don't like about the square body pickups is that they don't have much leg room and you sit really close to the steering wheel. The OBS pickups seem to have a little more room in them.
I just got my 98 Z71 back in service. The temp gauge did same thing. I put scan tool on it and data streamed on a trip to town. Temp was perfect. Sender or gauge is crappy.
OK my friend . 90s to early 2000s truck tips . GM loved to ground to alu, inum brackets ,intake which caused all kinds of havoc . The fuel pump should have the upgraded ground pigtail . Up north we would aluminum oxide proper the tank from crimp seam down ,hole saw the tank condom to help drain snow, debris. Etc. On com,or ial trucks I would run 2 grounds to the engine due to corrosion issues when salt is used .on the roads. One more thing check the balls joints. Good stuff as always .
As Puddin says, Thank You Sir Morticus! This episode is very interesting how Chevrolet changed so many things on the different years of their trucks. The average person just won't know what to do with a creature like the swapped one you're working on. Very informative Sir. Can't wait to see the finished project! And I am a US Army veteran with just over 26 years. Thank everyone for their service, as I started in 1972, enlisted in the Army reserve in 1990 after a 10 year break, and stayed Active Guard/Reserve until my 2008 retirement. Loved my time in the Army.

93-97 F body V8 battery cables. You’ll get a 6 gauge accessory wire, 10 gauge charge wire and 4 gauge starter wire all on a side post stud - with correct length for passenger side battery. The negative cable has a heavy body ground as well.
These are quite possibly the perfect budget do all trucks ever. Just modern enough but can still fix everything on the cheap. At least for the moment. Yes they can nickel and dime you with repairs but it's so much better the spending couple grand for this and that.

Hey mort the front you can use that newer grill and the older 4 little headlights will work the backing will change the oly problem youll have is the amber side reflectors stud needs to be adressed . I have the newer plastic headlights turn dull and yellow it makes the teuck look old. You have to change wires on back just splice them back . I loved the way my old 91 lookied afterward. Also change out your tailgate holders that are cable they suck 88 got metal one yet much better than new

The perfect Veterans Day treat, off work a little early and a Mortske video with an OBS👍. Your thoughts on those muddertruckers? I’ve heard a lot of different reviews but they look very similar to the Iron Man MTs which weren’t a bad tire. Thanks for another great video!
Ok you got me with the exhaust bender. I'm sure it's a man thing. Definitely my favorite part of the video. Now I need to buy one .....Dang it😂. Have a great week brother

I have a pair of plastic 95+ manual door panels you can have if you pay shipping or pick them up on your next trip to puddins.. located in Hutchinson Kansas
Them obs you gotta get the acutal AC delco temp gauge sensor the cheap auto store ones are never the right ohm loads and it makes them read overheating when they are really fine. maybe thats your problem we had that with our 95 gmc thanks for the vids man.
Good enough for the girls we go with has got to be the best One-liner that you got love your channel bro. Keep up the good work, love all the great content you put out each Week..
Another top-notch video and happy Veterans Day to you sir. The worn out front end and red dirt tell me the truck was in the Sierra Nevada's of Cailfornia. The red color is because of high iron content in the soil that some species of manzanita thrive in and so do rattlesnakes. While the iron usually is seen red, not always so with iron pyrite which looks gold, much to the chagrin of the 49'ers. Anyway, California was very mineral rich and has access to the ocean so the British were very interested in it and partly why Polk annexed it. Any updates on the debacle? Hopefully, it is squared away soon. If you have any Canada trips planned double check their customs before entry to the country to avoid any awkward situations. Good Job and Godspeed!
On those side post terminals I use a 1 1/4 inch long 3/8 16 bolt with a nut and flat washer. That way you can get full thread engagement with the bolt. Then tighten the nut down for tightening the connection. I also pull all the rubber off the connections so I can see if they are corroded.
Happy veterans day Mortske. I dig your content, it's always entertaining, keep it coming and sorry you had to go through the jail bullsh!t and I hope you get your $300 back. Hope to see more content with you and puddin', you two are hilarious together 😂😂😂😂😂😂.
