Nick, I started dying my beard a year ago when I first started getting some grays more and more. And dude it takes 5 minutes for the whole process and you just put it on with a brush and it looks natural. NO ONE but my momma knows. People always tell me how I look young for my age. One coworker asked if I ever get gray hairs and I said “a few” haha they have no idea. It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely for me. And I was shocked at how it doesn’t look fake or what whatsoever and how easy it is to use. But it only lasts like a week so I spend an extra 5 minutes before my shower every Wednesday. It takes 2 minutes to squeeze it out of the tube and apply it, then 3 minutes to let it set before I jump in the shower. Easiest thing on the planet.

Sounds great! I always here from TH-cam Channel Growth videos that you should make more than one thumbnail to figure out what makes a viewer want to click. I know they already had A B testing in TubeBuddy, but I think it will be much more effective built into the video uploader. Looking forward to this change!!

If we do an A/B test when our video is first published, won't the fact that all our subscribed viewers are going to be served our thumbnail affect the results? If so, should we wait a couple of days (or some other time period) before initiating such a test?
Just put up my first video for the first time in a year and I was shocked to see that, and pleasantly surprised. You have to know, it’s a gamble when you do that though because now there’s a chance, the audience is going to see a bad thumbnail.I only updated them after my numbers were low after the first day. It could be coincidence, but then I went in and updated the thumbnails and then views started to take off. I’m really interested to see what the data shows once it updates. This feature could be a game changer.
Honestly, I did upload a thumbnail of a different color. I think it’s a good idea. I did one thumbnail with a different caption, and another thumbnail of what I thought was my best caption but with a different color background just to see if it makes a difference. But those are the things I’m curious about and that I want to test and that I’m always wondering if I made the right decision on. So I don’t regret using those for my testing. I think the caption is very important. And I always have the same green background so I’m wondering if a different color might resonate
UPDATE - WOW it WAS the blue one that won. The test finished in 5 days…. Dude the blue background version got 41.2% watch time while the green one got 33.2%. That is wild. I think the blue contrasts better with the gold Switch I reviewed.. So the color can make a big difference. Assuming TH-cam is good at testing and is doing everything efficiently on their end.
I wonder how much it would take on the technical side to have unlimited thumbnail testing. I agree there needs to be a limit on the number of thumbnails uploaded, so how about A through Z testing? Not too many, but also enough to try out a bunch of ideas.

My current video is not showing the thumbnail to viewers. I can see it on my end. I have changed it, made sure it was the right format and size, chosen a screenshot from YT of the video, used a different computer to upload it and it still shows a gray thumbnail with 3 dots to the viewer for the thumbnail. What would cause this?
It could just be a display glitch. although if the file size for the thumbnail was too big, it might not take - but you typically get an error message in that case. Right now, what looks like a frame from the video as your thumbnail on the most recent video.

Its broken, if you upload the exact same thumbnail in the 3 slots you will get different results for each, when in reality it should be the same or very close.
If you don't want to test 3 different thumbnails, you should just upload a single thumbnail and not run a test. TH-cam does not recommend even testing similar thumbnails, so needless to say, you're wasting time test 3 identical thumbnails. How well does the tool work? The jury is out, we shall see over time.
@@NickNimmin I'm not op, but it is broken, if you uploaded 3 of the same image and one of those 3 has more watch time than the others, that is a proof that the style doesn't matter, what matters is the people it was shown to, for it to work properly it would need to show the all 3 thumbnails to the same person and whichever they click and watch more of is the winner.

Yes. Publish and test. Wait 3 days and test again. Wait 28 days and test again. You can toss one in the middle too if you want.

Whilst you can test 3 at a time, you can run fresh tests once the previous test is done.

Yes, they will default to the winner (if there is one), or the first one if no conclusive result. That being said, you can change it at any time.

TH-cam shorts viewers are on shorts. Only the most engaged will flow through. Focus on making good content for both and you'll have crossover viewers.

You can go back to old videos and use it too. All of the videos on your channel will have the option.

They have about 50,000 channels of all sizes testing it. In any case, it should start rolling out to everyone over summer.
