  • My Larch forest has vigorous growth in the apex that needs pruning and the overall conical shape of the trees needs tightening up!
    I'm also detailing the forest floor with the newly collected rocks to improve the miniature look of the landscape.

    Legend has it, he created a small forest for the wee folks. If you look really hard and at the right moment, one day will catch a wee folk running, dancing, and singing in the Larch forest.

    I do love this group, it is always a pleasure to see it develop. As a girl born and bred in the dry Aussie bush, this is not a landscape I recognise, but gee, I want to go for a walk and explore! And your birthday rocks fit right in like the landscape was waiting for them to appear.

    The Larches look like Baseball Bats 👍 Getting thick towards the tops/tips everywhere.
    You should probably cut away at the tips whenever you see that it developes multiple shoots, before they can grow out.
    Definitely not my favorite project of yours. My favorite of the conifers is still the Birdsnest Spruce, which you try to kill by not preserving the deadwood. 😅

    • @TheBonsaiZone
      @TheBonsaiZone  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I'm hoping to improve the trees, utilizing back buds to improve both the branches and the trunks. It is very hard to keep the branches fine in the upper section of trees over 25 years, they tend to eventually thicken up. The tops of the tree will need replacing in time to help with this.
      The Spruce is doing well and so far the deadwood is fine.

    • @paulcastro3812

      I disagree Enty Ropy your probably inexperienced at this art maybe try indoor plants first before being a Bonsai Master critic.

    • @entyropy3262
      @entyropy3262 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBonsaiZone I hope you did get it, that I was just a bit cynical towards the Birdsnest Spruce situation, I did not mean it absolutely seriously, I know it is doing well, and it might rot away and die or not. I know you are not trying to kill it, but also not putting much effort into preserving it either.
      What I wanted to say with this baseball bat metaphor was that it is for most plants that you have obviously working well enough to let them grow out and then cutting them back, but for the larches as specimen it seems to be not a good idea, to not adapt to their growth pattern, they totally obviously do have specific requirements that you treat them different from your other trees, since they are in fact the only ones getting top heavy and turning into baseball bats like this.
      You do know that other larch forests exist besides your own, and that they do not have the same problem, so you are just very obviously doing something wrong here, otherwise the problem would just not exist at all, right ?
      If you keep on doing the same thing on and on without changing your approach, then nothing will change at all and ever.
      It is just basic rationalism.
