  • International Gladiators 1 1994 - Episode 7 - Final - 18th February 1995
    Here are the 1994 International Gladiator finalists!
    Eunice Huthart (United Kingdom) (Full time mother from Liverpool) versus Kim Tyler (United States of America) (Aerospace physiologist from California)
    Paul Field (United Kingdom) (Police officer from Holborn, London) versus Wesley "2 Scoops" Berry (United States of America) (American footballer from California)
    Here are the International Gladiators.
    Female: Lightning, Jet & Nightshade (UK), Ice & Jazz (USA), and Flash (Finland)
    Male: Wolf, Hunter, Saracen & Trojan (UK), Hawk & Sabre (USA), Terminator (Finland), and Dynamite & Spartak (Russia)
    Notes: Out of all the events, Hang-Tough is not in the final of the International Gladiators because it was supposed to be played in the final as part of a base of appearance in the final in an event line-up as the main event. This was because it was played from two semi-finals, earlier on.
    The Wall is in the final of the International Gladiators which is not supposed to be in the final because it was played from one heat and one semi-final, but was meant to be two heats and two semi-finals.
    It features two core events in the final of International Gladiators: Gauntlet and Duel, which were not included back in Heat 2 that featured both of them.
    Powerball is put on the fourth event which is not supposed to be on the fourth event, only on the first or second event in an event line-up.
    It does not feature one of the four new events in the final of the International series.
    Prizes: Winners will each receive £5,000 and a first class ticket around the world. Runners-up will each receive £2,000.

    I remember this episode when it first aired in 1995. It was thrilling! We all knew 2Scoops was going to take it, but none of us realised just how close it was going to be with Paul literally just behind him, and he did it with an injury AND by starting 1.5 seconds behind him! He couldve taken it himself. Probably the only competition 2Scoops really. had.
    Superb episode of Gladiators!

    I never realised how amazing Paul was throughout his stints on gladiators until i watched them back all these years later now. The guy was an absolute powerhouse throughout both the British and International shows and still did amazing even with his nasty rib injury. He was also such a great sportsman and gentleman throughout the entire show and an amazing family man... What a guy.

    The main reason why the following season Glads from the same countries as the contenders completely missed the show was the crap the Americans pulled this season. Jazz gifting Adrienne Sullivan 10 points on Suspension Bridge while Hawk and Sabre took out Wesley's opponents on Powerball. In the Semi Final Sabre hurt Phil Norman's knees with a dangerous tackle and in the Final Hawk hurt Paul Field's ribs. Not to mention that Larry the American referee handled the situation with Paul's injury very poorly.
    Wesley was the rightful winner and he made zero mistakes here, I won't take that away from him. But like Sachs said, on another day, Paul might have beat him.

  • @bobomb1986
    @bobomb1986 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Looking back at where Two-Scoops gained points over Paul makes you realize just how the men's eliminator was on such a knife-edge. A 12-point differential in Powerball and a fortunate win in Duel with a gladiator who had no balance on his podium? A better Duel opponent would have parried what looked like a weak attack from Wesley. You have to assume the eliminator was shown in real time and that there was only 1.5 seconds between them at the end. Who knows what would have happened if Paul had been at peak fitness for the eliminator.

    • @user-sb2tb9oe7d
      @user-sb2tb9oe7d 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah that must have been Paul's fastest eliminator easily as he was only a few seconds behind

    • @mrmacross
      @mrmacross ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think the Eliminator finish was in real time. Wesley broke through the barrier at 46:36, and you can see in the background that Paul hadn't climbed to the top of the travelator platform yet. When Paul grabs the rope to swing to the barrier at 46:37, Wesley already is out of the picture. It takes about 1 second to swing across from the platform through the barrier, so if Paul was going to lose by 1.5 seconds then he'd have to be on top of the platform by the time Wesley crossed the barrier.
      Also, Wesley starts down the zipline at about 46:18, Paul around 46:22, so Wesley extended his lead to about 3.5 seconds. Take into further consideration that Wesley had the footspeed advantage, so it's really unlikely that Paul would've cut into Wesley's lead by running up the travelator a couple seconds faster that Wesley.
      I think Paul's eliminator time was probably around 53-55 seconds, which would've been his personal best. It would've beaten almost any other contender and is an amazing time for someone with cracked ribs. Still, I honestly think they shaved those couple of seconds off the video to make the final look more dramatic.

      Odds are Paul Field's final run here was edited as well.

I also noticed that only Eunice and Paul wore chest protectors during the Gauntlet (speaking of Gauntlet, unofficial Yellow Card at 10:42). I'm from Britain but found Eunice quite an annoying character throughout. Kim Tyler seemed like such a lovely lady, too nice for this stuff, but she was strong! She reminded me of a dark skinned Sandra Bullock.

    The British female gladiators were more attractive then the juiced up American women glads, I guess the producers in US wanted a different look for their gladiators.
