Haha, love it, it's an entertainment show at the end of the day and always has been. My kids love this kind of thing and I always felt that was kind of the main target audience. Enjoying the new series as I did when younger back in the 90s.
Although it looks like a set up, it actually drains energy of the contender.
Respect to Athena for actually following the rules of the game!

God do I love Sabre! She is by far my favourite Gladiator on the reincarnated series! The new series isn't perfect but with a few changes (bringing back Atlas balls/more classic events and changing the presenters) it will be amazing. I've really been loving that Gladiators is back and popular again, with over 8 million live viewers for each episode meaning that a second series should be in the bag at this point. I just hope the producers make a few minor tweaks to the show and it'll be back to it's best. I really hope that Sabre stays on the show too. I know she was injured but will hopefully continue after she makes a full recovery.

A few things which are unequivocally true; these "professionals" proved that they aren't strong or tough and can be quite easily broken 💯
I thought the male Gladiators (like Viper and Legend) often break the rules in any games but I never really expected female Gladiators would ever break the rules like this one, but at least Athena never break the rules in the Gaunlet unlike the other three.

Clearly these new Gladiators don't know how to use their equipment. Not saying the old Gladiators never tried to cheat or hold people down, but they at least USED THEIR EQUIPMENT.
Tbh I think Brodie rubbed a couple of them the wrong way as well with how good she was. The gauntlet tunnel looks way wider than the original series, definitely needs reducing massively in width for series 2

The same thing always happened on classic Gladiators, especially with Wolf. People are so miserable and critical of the slightest thing these days and look at past seasons of Gladiators with rose-tinted goggles. The new series is getting 8 million + live viewers with each episode so it's clear that the vast majority love the new series of Gladiators.
There's actually a decent chance this wasn't scripted. The Gladiators were clearly furious the previous contender got through so quickly and it's not been a good game for the Glads in general.
I feel like this was a protest by the girls. None of them seem "polished" here except of course Sabre who is naturally very charismatic.

Wouldn't surprise me if they change the rules for the semi finals - if one gladiator deliberately tackles the contender without their pads or block, all Gladiators DQ'd. First one you could argue the pads slipped, second one was blatant, and the third at the end was basically malicious!!

That was a piss take. Giving the contender 10 points. Noticed it happened quite a bit throughout the series. The old gladiators used to break contenders arms and legs. Both males and females are not great! Bring back lightening and jet. Shadow for the guys

The gladiators got feed up with the gauntlet, simple as that! It's impossible for them, makes them look useless. The wall also needs complicating to put the advantage on the glads. Overhangs and bulges, like the old version.

The gladiators are at a disadvantage with this game. Those pads are big and heavy and the padded pole is too long. Oh well, light entertainment show init :)
This episode was a total joke. First of all, Bronte (the amazing winner!) who won legitimately in the heat shouldn’t have even been competing against someone who originally lost, regardless of whether they were a runner up or not. The only reason Sasha even had a headstart was because she was handed a free win from Diamond in The Edge.
Secondly, a contender like Wesley who didn’t even originally compete in the heat should never have been allowed in the quarter finals 😂😂. Yea I understand the original guy Finlay was injured but surely they could have replaced him with a second runner up from the male side instead of using someone who didn’t even actually compete to get to the quarter finals and is now in the semi’s 😂. What an absolute joke lmao. And the only reason he won was because his opponent was injured and had to opt out of all those points from The Gauntlet.
1st paragraph - Brontë shouldn’t be competing against someone who lost in the heats.
2nd paragraph- how can they bring in someone who was never in the heats to compete .

Runners up should be the first choice for replacement I agree. But there should always be a slot for the fastest loser in the heats. So both contenders always have a reason to push to finish.
That being said Wesley did put on good show.

@@Dragonovaa For the first statement my point is that the two fastest runner ups should be the ones competing against each other, not a winner from the heat competing against someone who lost regardless of whether they were fastest runner up or not. But looking at it again I see why it makes sense now since there are 5 winners (both male and female) and therefore one of them will have to end up facing a runner up and not another winner. That’s just to do with the first point I made.
What you said there is exactly what I meant, “But there should always be a slot for the fastest L in the heats”. Exactly so, which brings out the question to me as to why on Earth they decided to bring a contender who didn’t even have to go through the heat. Would you not call that an unfair advantage? I’m talking about Wesley here. Unless I missed some episode where he did originally compete or something I am still bewildered as to why they didn’t contact any of the other contenders who lost or
those that were the second or third runner ups etc instead to take Finlays (the injured one) spot. After all the Wesley guy wasn’t just one off competing for fun, but he’s actually on the semi’s now when he didn’t even have to originally go through the heat. I know I’m probably coming off as ranting here but I like to take this kind of competition seriously lol, it’s more than just fun and games to me haha. But yea he was rather good though.

On the contrary, it's having the opposite of the desired outcome, I'm actually put off watching it now because I don't believe they are acting at this point. My only continuing interaction with the show is this discussion... which I think is probably about to come to an end with us agreeing to disagree and moving on having realised that none of this actually really matters.
In answer to your initial comment, I don't watch wrestling, I think it's silly. And I am able to differentiate between a character portrayed by an actor, and the actor themselves (in most cases)... but then I do believe actors are indeed, acting.

A few of them have even done actual acting gigs, while others have done interviews for other projects where surprise surprise they come off as actual human beings nothing like their gladiator character.
Plus tbf the entire show is aimed mostly at kids or families with kids, I've got a feeling you don't quite fit that demographic so characters designed to make children mad probably won't have the same desired impact on yourself. Take what people say about tom and jerry, where kids a rooting for the mouse but once you grow up a bit you start to feel sorry for tom. Theres some toddlers who will refuse to watch shows because it's for 'babies' as they've realised it's not aimed at them anymore as they've aged

Thought it was totally wrong that a fresh replacement was brought in for the quarter finals. It should have been a previous competitor who had performed well. We were so annoyed he won too.
Also, the only decent female Gladiator is Fury. The rest of them the competitors are stronger and better athletes.
The gauntlet definitely needs change. It's far too easy.

At the same all the contenders are told the rules OVER & OVER AGAIN about Injuries & Substitutions, if it was in the rules at the time of recording that they can bring in a Fresh Contender for the Quarter-Finals, especially if none of the other runners-up are available it is totally in the rules

Current version of Gauntlet is an absolute joke, 99% guaranteed points for the contenders.
Put it back to the original , 5 zones and far narrower, and make the pads, and especially the 'beams' much less flexible.
This never happed with the OG Female gladiators.

I hated the new gladiators remake. What I hated the most were the absolutely useless contestants. Total bunch of pansies with childish delusions of grandeur. Look at original gladiators contestants like Phil Norman, Steve Quick, Roland and Deano. Absolutely brilliant athletes and strong men. They new gen contestants were a total disgrace. BBC better redeem itself by finding proper athletes and strong men to go up against the glads.

tbf even the male gladiators haven't put up much of a fight, this version of Gauntlet, with rules *against* actually stopping them, is a bit of joke.
I think it's because the one contenders leg thing and being replaced has basically nullified this part of the competition, so they just did everything for show, like this or the other contender forfeitting for no reason only to catch up on a 25 second gap etc. The show needed to go on, so they made one.
