- In the men’s competition, it’s Sean Goodwin, a clothing salesman from Newport Beach, California, vs. Wesley Berry, a karate instructor from Duarte, California. In the women’s round, it’s Cathy Marino, a firefighter from Costa Mesa, California, against Kimberly Tyler, an aerospace physiologist from Bellville, Ohio.

Pyramid: Contenders have 45 seconds to reach the top of a pyramid, with two Gladiators blocking their path.
Joust: The Gladiator and contender face off for 30 seconds on elevated platforms. They must knock each other off with pugil sticks.
The Wall: The contenders attempt to scale a rock climbing wall, being chased by Gladiators.
Whiplash: The contender and Gladiator each hold one end of a double triangle apparatus, known as the “dog bone”. They must each attempt to have the other either let go of the “dog bone”, or exit the ring.
Swingshot: The contenders bounce with bungee cords to try and retrieve colored balls for points, while the Gladiators try to disrupt them.
Assault: The contender must attempt to hit a target while a Gladiator shoots at them using a tennis ball cannon.
Breakthrough & Conquer: The contender must face two Gladiators in this two-part event. First, they need to score a touchdown against the first Gladiator. Then the contender must wrestle the second Gladiator, forcing them to step outside of a ring.
The Eliminator: The Eliminator is an obstacle course spanning the arena, the winner of which advances to the next round of the competition.

Welcome to the official channel of American Gladiators, home of patriotic spandex and giant cotton swabs.
Beginning in 1989 for 8 seasons, this competition swept America. Two men and two women compete against each other and a roster of "American Gladiators". Events included, The Assault, Joust, The Wall, Breakthrough and Conquer, Hang Tough, Powerball, and many others, all culminating in the final event, "The Eliminator", a difficult obstacle course race. Every season there is a tournament to determine its "Grand Champion". For two seasons, there was an "International" competition taped in England where the champions from 4-6 countries competed similarly.

@@frostywarrior4649 That’s not how I see it. It’s more because WWE is all about Fake Wrestling & Entertainment, which is contradictory to what AG was back in the 90’s. Imagine if there was a lot of Fake Material in the Events, Contenders, Hosts, Officials, and even the Gladiators themselves. That’s something that Fans like me would NEVER want to be a part of.
Even after all these years I still feel Sean Goodwin should have won.
After watching I disagree, Sean had his chance an he couldn't make it up treadmill 🤷♂️
Wes was ahead of him after the cargo net and they both fell down the treadmill twice so it was fair enough Wesley won when they got to go up the side
Nah fam… this was a dog fight but Wesley was the better man in this moment. I remember beefing with childhood friends over who was better😂

I'm from the UK, and Wesley Berry was still the most iconic contender I remember from when he came over for the international events. But this eliminator was definitely controversial. The travelator '3rd attempt' rule spoilt this because he was able to make barely a token effort on his second try before jogging up the side, and I swear the fact he finished the zipline first meant he should have taken the outside lane on the finish (which was probably the fault of the ref, or maybe 2 scoops was too quick for him to do anything!). Still, I'm glad he came through because the legend was born :D
Yes, Wesley actually beat Muse in the previous round because Muse mistakenly tried to take the outside lane, thinking he had landed first, and while the ref was redirecting him, "Two Scoops" was already on the travelator. If you notice, though, both Wesley and Kim took the inside lane, despite landing first, and the ref didn't correct either of them.
Both Sean Goodwin and Welsey Berry are amazing contenders in the 1st Half Final on American Gladiators.

Classic case of the treadmill 2 attempts rule. Could have been different if they had to actually get up properly.

Kimberly Tyler had an amazing Performance in the Women's 1st Half Final on American Gladiators.
I find Scoops small size inspirational. Talk about being as big as he needed to be.
It literally took 5000% to beat Goodwin because he was really a great Contender. Surprising to see both Goodwin and 2 Scoops struggle on the treadmill.
Hawk is so flaccid. Just his grunts are flaccid.

when i watched this back in the day i always thought why they were allowed to run up the side of the travelator.after 2 trys of the travelator. yet u could not in our british one and i still dont know till this very day

Not the first time 2 Scoops barely beat a guy with a ponytail who had him for most of the Eliminator.
2 Scoops climbed that Cargo net 👌 with technical prowess! I noticed that he used a vertical to pull himself up with his 👋 hands which made it less floppy and him able to seed up!
Such a eliminator being decided by allowing someone to run up the side is stupid.

2 Scoops is such a legend that I completely forgot he legitimately should have lost back to back shows. After that whole controversy the previous week with who got sent down which lane after the zip line, how does he not only go to the wrong lane but have a ref not jump in and block him like what happened to his opponent? This is so bizarre to rewatch.
That treadmill rule absolutely ruined this season, and it was a disaster for the women going all the way back to season 3.
For the first one, 2 scoops landed first after the zip line thus was to go to the outside. Nothing weird there. For the second, they changed the rules and he landed first and the ref gestured for him to go to the inside, which he did. Again, nothing wrong there. He won legitimately both times.

@@enigmazero8624 I deduced that because you can see the ref point where the first person should go. You can see it more clear in the women's eliminator.

@@enigmazero8624 Totally! No idea why they'd do it. Last time Mike Adamle said the first to land after the zip line was "awarded" the outside lane. It must be based on a merit system. Like the leader gets the best lane, although I'm not sure what makes one lane better than the other.
Wesley Berry should been American Gladiator he was tough guy for a small man

Hawk(RIP) was a lot smarter than what fans gave him credit for. He went to Cornell University, and had a degree in Business, and his somehow translated to being a Gladiator.
I think his whole dumb jock shtick was his gimmick for the show. He played on it loads when he came for the International series.
Don't be fooled, Wesley is one of the biggest jerks I've ever met.
This is why they got rid of that Treadmill Rule after Season 5.

With that said, that was some quick thinking on Berry's part with his second "bonafide" attempt there. Calculated risk, for sure, but it paid off.

Was Episode 11 of Season Five on the American Gladiators feature the two Grand Champion contenders, Kimberly Tyler (women) and Wesley "Two Scoops" Berry (men) with the 100%?
I don't think that Kimberly Tyler was Grand Champion that season.
Peggy Odita was Grand Champion which we will see in the near future in the second half of the fifth season
