Here are the semi finalists!
Eunice Huthart (Full time mother from Liverpool, Merseyside) versus Erika Rogerson (School teacher from Lancashire)
Sam Codjoe (Recreational officer from West London) versus Phil Campbell (Salesman from Lee-on-Solent, Gosport, Hampshire)
Notes: Pole-Axe now has a base of appearance in Semi Final 1 in an event line-up from this series onwards which is played in the first semi final.
It features another two new events in the first Semi Final: Pursuit and Hit & Run.
Duel is in the first Semi Final which takes place in an event line-up as a core event and a combat event.
Jet was always my childhood tv crush, looking back I had damn good taste. What a iconic show btw ;)
She definitely knew how to light up a room, that's for sure....
Oh yeah, back then everyone was in love with her, and 30 years later, I still would.
I watch the videos of this show. I still love Jet! She was my TV crush on the show and I still love watching her on the videos. She was so cute. I still love her. Jet was my favorite!

I had no idea Nightshade was such a formidable Gladiator. She was universally feared amongst the contenders.

Pretty sure it was Erica who ran the Eliminator with a mild concussion, she probably wasn't the only one.
PRETTY SURE IT WAS ERICA WHO RAN THE ELIMINATOR WITH A MILD CONCUSSION SHE PROBABLY WASN'T THE ONLY ONE GLORY SENGO.
I love Sam. He's such a great guy in this. Wolf loves him too

Notice that Jet has to shout during her interview with Fash after Powerball because the cat whistles are very loud. 😂
Many of the male gladiators started to lose weight as the seasons went on, the reason being that the quality of the contenders was getting higher and higher all the time. The excess weight hampered their agility, so each season quite a few of the male gladiators had lost a stone or two in order to outpace the contenders.
Yeah I guess they were naturally training harder and longer wanting to look their best on telly. What I liked about them is they were down to earth the kind you'd probably find in your local gym.

666jon agree. I love how Phil at 16.48 talking of the flashback of pyramid, tells how wolf is complacent sitting there like it's all too easy and then is taken out by cobra flying down - that's karma for being too confident!

Poor Erika, She was a great contender, great personilty. But the pressure was way too much for her in this show. She could had possibly beaten Eunice if it had been a less of a headstart.
I agree. Erika just had it all go wrong on the day in the Semi Final. With how fast she had done the eliminator (that has to be one of the quickest females if she did 1.05 in the 1/4) I think she could have won on another day. In another series (especially Series 4) she could have been champion.

They bought it back around 2008 and it was god awful! If they do bring it back again, it needs the classic format

A fortnight last Wednesday ago we went to a taping of the new Gladiators at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, we should've gone the Friday previous but the ticket company messed up and the show was oversubscribed. Plus most of the new Gladiators weren't even born yet when this was on.

Sad to see Erika go out like that. Lack of the draw didn't help her in some events and towards the end she was clearly rattled. This semi final should have been as close as the men's.
Sam was clearly looking for fame throughout gladiators. So glad nothing no came of it

Sam gradually became a fan favourite, the most charismatic contender ever, and Phil was also a fantastic personality. This would have been a worthy final.
Oof, that interview from Jet was unfortunately very prophetic given what would happen to her.

Fashanu did give Jet the Juju. She is the only person to whom he asked a question about getting injured..and that is exactly what will happen to her leading to her leaving the show...Makes you wonder about the power of autosuggestion
It happened to me as well. My cat had kittens and one of them hated being stroked. One time she tried scratching me when I went to stroke her and I said "why don't you go away and get squashed somewhere" in frustration.
I shouldn't have said it, because half an hour later, it happened. Sister's boyfriend's car ran her over. I couldn't believe it

After the MEN'S DUEL I think John Sachs was rather harsh on his criticism of Sam just constantly defending the way he did, he was up against SHADOW after all and literally all you can do with this gladiator is just defend so I think it may have been a fair 5 POINTS for the draw on this occasion!
If he was against Another Gladiator, then I would consider that a DISQUALIFICATION depending on Sam's Overall Work Rate
Not to mention that Sam is only 5'8 and a welterweight vs Shadow who is 6'3 and a heavyweight. Total mismatch,so he did a great job.
I felt for the female athletes, every event that requires a long reach they get put up against Nightshade, no wonder she won all the time.
Amazing that the white guy went on to such an amazing career in top gear. ;)

Duel really wasn't a good game for Phil.
He actually chose to attack if you look. Ducked, caught Shadow on the leg and then went high. The other guy just defended which is far easier.

The semi finals and grand final of season 3. Or the Jet, Lightning and Nightshade shows. The other females glads hardly got a look in.
Why should the others get a look in? Jet and Lightning were the best at the Wall and Hang Tuff.. And Nightshade was simply the most formidable Gladiator of them all.
@@RexBanner_ because no Gladiator is bigger than the show. Scorpio, Zodiac and Falcon were undefeated in hang tough at this time, perhaps they would have been “best” had they been given the chance. This sort of thing never happened again because I’m sure the producers realised it wasn’t a good look to show favouritism.

Does anyone remember how long it would take to typical film a while 15 episode season of gladiators. They may have shot some of the Eliminators together for 2/3 shows because it took so long to set it all up?
I grew up in Birmingham, I went to about 5 show recordings. It was about 6-8 hours to film, depending on the events chosen and their set up time.
They filmed an entire episode in a single day, setting up all the different events for just that episode each time I went. They did not shoot multiple episodes on the same day anytime I was there.
According to a recent interview with Wolf which you can find on TH-cam they used to film one episode every few days in the early series but in the later ones they filmed 3 shows per day

I'd drink Jets bath water. What a beautiful woman she was and still is. I was lucky enough to meet her a few years back, and she is also incredibly sweet and friendly and just down to earth. I bet even when she passes wind it smells of Fabreeze 😂

Eunice got a bit lucky on DUEL I thought if you lost your grip on the stick regardless of when in lands your out.
I'm guessing they gave the points to Eunice because it would've been harsh not to, given how she was only miliseconds away from lasting without dropping it.
Eunice should have received ZERO points in Duel. I was able to stop the playback at 0.1 seconds (on the video replay); you can see the pugil stick clearly out of her hands then. That should have been an automatic loss, especially in the semi-final.

Hunter did not jump the gun when the whistle blew in Pole-axe So Sam lost to Hunter fair & square
It depends how the rules were written. Hunter start preloading his muscles 0.5 seconds early but his foot stayed on the peg until the whistle blew.

Sam the man is Sam the cheat on the balance beam walk .why did he not get penalised he came of before the last section.
How did Sam cheat
Look at the final rope swing through the finish as well. He doesn’t swing, he just takes a diving jump through the finish instead of swinging properly. Actually swinging would’ve taken longer so he gained a lot of time by jumping/cheating.
The cheat eventually got what was coming to him though.
If Penalties were introduced in Pursuit this would be scores for the event.
For the Girls:- Erica had 2 PENALTIES but was caught so scored 0 POINTS, Eunice had 3 PENALTIES on The Snake-Beam so would've scored 7 POINTS.
For the Boys:- Sam had a Total of 3 PENALTIES on the Snake-Beam (1 for the Falling Off & 2 for come off the Beam before touching the very end) so would've scored 7 POINTS, Phil had a Total of 5 PENALTIES (4 for the Snake-Beam & 1 for Not Touching The Last Rung on The Hand-Ladder) so would've scored 0 POINTS.
Sam is so cocky
Cocky, but incredibly likeable. The Gladiators said after the show he was the most charismatic contender out of them all. I can totally see why.

Bit of favouritism going on by the producers there... this episode was basically the Jet, Lightning and Nightshade show. Poor Zodiac, Falcon and Scorpio must have wondered what they had done wrong to just appear in Hit & Run. Note that Panther is back on Hit & Run - the semis were filmed the same week as the quarters so that Tilt fall can't have been that bad or she wouldn't even have been on Hit & Run platform!
I think she wasn't allowed any physical contact so maybe she was allowed games like Danger Zone and Hit and Run. during the episode she was injured, the commentator says she wasn't seriously injured.
She did Gauntlet which would have been filmed the same week as her Tilt fall which is one of the most physical contact games there was!
Or maybe she's a strong gladiator fighting through the pain.
I don't think the insurance would have allowed her to do Gauntlet if it was that bad an injury. It was insurance costs that KO'd Amazon's career.

Only reason Sam undeservingly got as far as he did is because they kept playing favorites with him. One of the biggest cheaters to make it throughout the season. Him and 2 Poops continuously got away with shit they shouldn't have. I hope Sam lost in the end.

Sam certainly came off the Snake-Beam too early on Pursuit so perhaps should've been DISQUALIFIED
However Phil failed to touch the Last Rung of the Hand-Ladder so he should've been DISQUALIFIED too

What a stupid comment just because someone shows emotions that automatically makes them weak and not good enough to win. Tell me what is it like living in the dark ages I’ve always been curious. Are you aware she had been hit so hard that she had concussion but still carried on. History is littered with underdogs who have achieved amazing things against all the odds. We can’t all be robots only succeeding if we hold everything in if that were the case no Olympic athlete deserves to have won anything.
