    Thanks for sharing your technique using an electric cooktop. I have wanted to try puffing the roti on a rack, but thought I could only do it with a gas stove. Love your videos!

    Thanks for telling us not to use too much flour, & to use oil to ease the stickiness of the dough. It's made such a difference, my rotis are wonderfully soft!! It's now a joy to eat & make!!

    I started learning about Indian food from my friend Ramesh, he showed me how to cook roti’s, dahl and curry chicken.I am an author in it and I am writing my sequel to my first novel, and I’m talking about how Ramesh share these Indian recipes with me in my novel. I enjoyed watching your video on making rotis. I would like to learn to make other Indian dishes and add them to my weekly recipes.

    We call these phulkas. They don't have as many layers as chapaties that we make in north Karnataka. Phulkas had to be eaten hot but chapaties can be eaten cold. Infact my mom's or my mom-in-law's chapaties are so soft and layered that they seem fresh even after 2 days

    Can I only use all purpose flour or is wheat flour essential?

    • @gerball123
      @gerball123 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Abby Swaringam I tried making some using regular flour, and it still worked well. So, I think the wheat flour is when you want optimal results but otherwise, you can always use regular flour.

    • @Trish21_
      @Trish21_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Abby Swaringam .. no that roti will not be as good as this. .

    • @icomedia1

      When saying "wheat flour" is it whole whole wheat flour we are referring too?

    • @indigenousboriqua
      @indigenousboriqua 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you use all purpose flour then it will be a tortilla. This is traditional Indian roti and it is typically made with wheat or multigrain flour.

      It’s all about family preference. We like soft and just cooked enough rotis. And in video, it may look like that because of not dark brown spots as we like only light brown spots. Again they don’t puff because rolled thin but cooked and rolled just right to our. Cheers
