    I love to see people restore old furniture. I have never been a fan of the throw away generations who keep buying new when the old furniture just needs some TLC. They don't realize the quality in old furniture. Nothing is made like it was in the past and its a shame. Thank you for using your God given talents to breath new life into these furniture pieces that you are restoring.

      I would like to show. Unfortunately, most viewers don't want that. They switch off beforehand. This lowers the watch time considerably. Which unfortunately is important for the algorithm. This video was about 25 seconds too long. that cost me almost 10%. I could show something like this much longer in the members area. Greetings

    I think the new bottom would look better stained dark, to bring out the dark spots in the wood on the drawer fronts. As it is, to me, it looks like a new bottom attached, which it is, but most people don't want it to look like that. It's just my opinion. I'm amazed that you were able to save it at all!

    Da hast du wieder ein echtes Sahnestück ausgegraben, etwa zwischen 1880 und 1910 entstanden, bei dem sich eine Restaurierung fast immer lohnt. Diese Möbel sind äußerst langlebig und zweckmäßig und wenn man sie richtig behandelt, echte Schmuckstücke. Du hast da wirklich das Beste rausgeholt. Vielleicht nimmt sich das mancher zum Vorbild und rettet so einen Dachboden oder Kellerfund.

    This may seem strange, but a plastic surgeon said hiding the scars is easier with an uneven join. I think it would apply to repairing veneer. Instead of cutting straight lines, try using the uneven line to join. Maybe it will work, maybe not, but it might be better than a patchwork look on an otherwise fantastic restore. Love your work, see you next time!

    Sie haben sehr viel Arbeit in die Restaurierung des Möbels gesteckt, meinen Respekt dafür. Die meisten Menschen hätten das gute Stück zum Sperrmüll gegeben. Man hätte aber ohne signifikantem Mehraufwand ein besseres Ergebnis erzielen können. Weshalb haben Sie das Furnier am Sockel waagrecht aufgeleimt? Weshalb keine farbliche Anpassung und Weshalb haben Sie das Möbel gewachst? Sie hätten Schellack verwenden sollen. Im übrigen reicht für das Entfernen des Schellacks eine Ziehklinge und Alkohol. Abbeizer ist hier nicht angebracht.

    • @chrigunrestauration
      @chrigunrestauration  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hallo und Danke. Ich habe es waagerecht verleimt weil ich keine Lust hatte es Horizontal zu verleimen. War mir zuviel Arbeit. Warum? Die Kommode bleibt in meiner Werkstatt. Es ist mir egal. ich habe es nicht gefärbt, weil ich hell lieber mag als dunkel. So sind wenigstens ein paar hellere Stellen dran. ich habe die Kommode gewachst weil es sich um Esche gehandelt hat. Sehr große Poren. Wie viele Schichten zum Poren füllen soll ich den Auftragen? 12? 15? Diese Zeit habe leider nicht und möchte ich auch nicht investieren selbst wenn ich sie hätte. Ich habe Abbeizer genommen weil die Kommode keine Schellackpolitur hatte. Sie hatte Klarlack drauf. Grüße

    Very impressive job!
    I have seen quite a few chest of drawers from about 1850 to 1920 and they were all veneered, highly polished with shellac. Some were slightly matted down to have a more silky finish. They often have intricate patterns in the veneer, burl, patterns in the cutting of it, various inlays,... I think veneer was valued highly at the time, and the finish too. It makes be think this chest of drawers might have been stripped of its` veneer, then relacquered? They would not allow rough spots in the wood in this era, it was not considered proper furniture until highly finished. I have seen some furniture where they likely used layers of wax polish or some kind of varnish recipe I have not quite identified yet.
    Did you do an alcohol test? It would let you know if it was shellac. If it was cellulose lacquer, it was refinished at some point, the same with acrylic or polyurethane.
    It`s a joy to see your carpentry skills in practice like this :- )
