I have had this a while, but thus far have not played. the C4me trays actually fit this game and will make life so much easier when setting up, made SPQR far more playable. Thanks for the unboxing.

The game you were struggling to name in the beginning was CATAPHRACT

The very first game of the series was Alexander (not you... the macedonian king ;) )
    Then came SPQR
Then the third to appear was Lion of the North (the system was unsuited for the era alas. Both Breitenfeld and Lutzen battles were really not suited for the rules as they werent suited for fire combat of the musket and gun)
    Then came Caesar
    Then came Samurai
And then Conquest of the Gauls
That reprint is in fact a compendium of volume IV and VI of the series (plus some external modules)
The second sheet was in fact ennemies as Caesar battles pitted legion against legion in the Civil War with number on the side of Pompeans and qualilty on the side of Caesar.
Cimbres and Teutons were the protagonist of the battle of Vercellae... well not from Caesar but of his uncle by alliance (the husband of his mother sister) Marius (the father of the cohortic professionnal legion)
Well to be honest the Conquest of Gaul battles are by far the less interessting. They favored hugely the roman side (a bit too much in fact).
Also the battle from Gaul contains an HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE geographical mistake. The battle called Bay of Biscain is just out of the way. That naval battle was fought on an site nowhere near the Bay of Biscain. In fact we nearly know nothing of its location. Only that it was fought on the coast of south Britanny somewhere between Quiberon and Arzon in the actual Morbihan (near my natal town so I know quite well the area). Not quite the bay of biscain there.
Lesnikia is a very odd battle. Small, taking place at night, with no line of battle. Very odd... and not very pleasing too as there is no way for Caesarian player to win it.
Having played all the battle in the game I'll said that very few are great. From before Caesar time Chaeronae is one the most interesting pitting the macedonian art of war against the roman new legion.
From Gauls only Sabis posed a challenge to the roman player. All others are way too easy to win (even if the Gauls are more than often in numerical superiority). Bay of Biscay could be interessting too provided the wind don't fall to quickly. If that events occurs it's bye bye the venetes fleet.
Of the civil war Pharsales and Munda are the most enjoyable in fact. Munda is very difficult because of the broken terrain. All the others, again, are too straigthfoward on one side to be really fun.

Great video. The game was a miss for me, though. This and GBACW this year have made me weary of any of Richard Berg's games. Men of Iron was good, so this was a let down for me.

What do you expect to see? Ancient battlefields, especially those in Greece and Asia Minor, were normally chosen precisely because they were big, flat and empty.
