I did this exact thing.... I was about to lose my mind. I set it aside. Sat down later and I'm glad I watched your video first. I lifted the lever and pop right back together. Thank you so much... this is why I love you guys
Brought a new P320 home, took it apart, put it back together. No problem. Couple days later, took it down - problem. Many different methods of takedown for different weapons, and we have to learn the idiosyncrasies of each. One of the great values of youtube is this kind of video. It is a time saver, a sanity saver and a finger saver. Not sure what I did differently the second time, but I put myself in a pickle. Figured it out after 10 frustrating minutes. Should have remembered to come here first. Good solid information as always.
I just bought a P320 and it should be here tomorrow - glad I ran across your video. And thanks for being right to the point and not annoying us with over the top videos of you shooting with explosions', wild graphics and loud music in your intro just t let us know how badass you are. :)
You really save me today! I tried some many times to resemble my Sig Sauer M18 and I couldn’t load magazine after that. I almost went crazy lol but when I watched your video. I end up fixing it. Thank you
Like everyone else, I had the same issue. Read the manual, looked on the Sig website… nothing. Searching here on TH-cam…. Bingo found the right video, not very long and problem directly solved! Thank you for saving me thinking I reassembled incorrectly.
Excellent video!!! You have made trigger installation/removal look so easy. Information like this is very educational and makes one very receptive to performing gunsmith procedures. Thanks from a subscriber.
Brought mine home..like to have drove me nuts trying to figure the exact same thing out with the mag..took it back twice in frustration..they figured it out for me and now as of watching this my blood pressure back to normal..thanks👍
I have an p320 X-Conpact (320cx-9-bxr3-r2) and, what was initially tripping me up was the slide Spring guide position as it relates to where it rest against on the barrel. The flat sides of recoil spring guide go vertically, and the rounded portions of the guide are what rest against the Barrel. Once that was oriented correctly the slide would be able to be pulled back far enough to engage the slide lock, enabling me to put the slide release lever back to the locked position. Super nice gun!!
Will have someone in my class tomorrow with a 320. So happy I found this! Will make me look like I know what I’m talking about (even though I’m a Glock guy!) Well done Coach!
I’m a little late to your video, but I just had this problem. Bought the 320 used (no manual) disassembled it, wouldn’t go back together, until I stumbled onto the solution. I’m subscribed
Thank you for teaching. There are hundreds of folks making videos about reassembly. Their hands are in the way. They aren’t saying what’s in what position. Then alakazam the weapon is reassembled. However you actually SHOW & TELL what position the takedown lever should be in. Now, I can say alakazam, it’s reassembled. 😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏 Also, I didn’t break my nails fooling around with it. Thank you!!!
I just spent two hours figuring this out on my own then found your video. The manual stinks! Thanks for making this video for anyone else discovering this idiosyncrasy it should be a top search result.
Glad I watched this. I just got mine. Was cursing at the thing. I actually thought I was going to break it, getting the lever all the way. Since I saw you do it, I figured I'd give it the full beans, and the jeez-less thing finally gave. I'm glad it's made of metal. And, I saw a negative review from someone on the weapon because they didn't lock the slide before putting the lever back. Glad I didn't listen to them. My thumb is still a bit sore from working that lever several time trying to get it to loosen up some.
Thank you for your video. I was having trouble putting my gun back together, the takedown lever was giving me grief, after watching your video i was able to put it back, no problem.
Mine worked for a while, now I can't get the slide on again. I've taken it off many times, but today, I push it back, lock it, and the take down lever is stuck and will not move. Well, it will go from 7 o'clock to the 6 o'clock position, but that's it. Every time I do it with this gun, I find myself thinking about changing brands. There is no reason for it to be such a challenge. My other Sigs work fine, but I'm in a mess with this one. If my life ever depends on my putting the slide back on, I'm dead and the bad guys will not even take my gun... Thanks again for you excellent videos.
This is exactly what I did and now realize the problem. Thank you. I just wonder what the failure rate is within the Army with the new M17s? How many young GIs go crazy trying to put it back together. I also wonder how many would know about this?
My sincere thanks for your informative video .Now that I know these tips , I am quite proficient and can do this quickly . Again thank you .. Cheers from Canada.
Very helpful. As a tip ensure the main spring guide rod is oriented correctly against the barrel lug.The guide rod has flat and curved surfaces. The curved surface needs to be touching the barrel lug or the pistol can't be reassembled.
This happened to me today. But while I was going through the trouble shooting, I locked my slide back and wallah. I didn’t know why it worked, I just know that it worked. Thank you for explaining
This Sr. ( I don't remenber his name) is an expert who explains very simple the procedures without talking too much sh...and his voice is clear, that you understand everything. Brownsnell have an asset with him. GOD bless.
I had exactly the same problem.I said to myself an Austrian should buy a glock. Now everything works and I am happy with the P320 . Greatings from Austria .
I just came upon this randomly. Earlier this evening I was cleaning my 320 and came face to face with the same problem. I cleared it but didn’t know how until now. What a coincidence or was TH-cam secretly listening to me cursing. 😉
Thank you so much I tried and tried to put my sig back and it didn't work. After watching your video I'm back in bussiness. Also this is my first sig thought I broke it lol once again thank you for your video
You may be seating the recoil spring wrong, it isnt supposed to go long ways on the barrel its supposed to stand straight up, and there is small flatside on both ends that seat the spring properly, i was becoming UNSAFE to be around while dealing with this issue but this EXTREMELY calmed me down and my slide went onto my barrel as it should, racked the slide back and locked it (heard the click) threw the pin up released the slide lock and the gun is "100%" hope this helps
Guy is awesome I was playing and disassembling the pistol too and took me couple tries to realize what was going on. Cool hardship I’d call it gotta play like an engineer to quickly understand what’s going on like I did lol
you can throw the lever before putting the slide back on and locking it to rear and it will move the lever out of the way and then it will click back in place on its own too. Try it.
The key event that happens when you lift the slide stop in reassembly is that the other end of that piece of metal (or assembly of metal) that blocks the magazine slips into place to lock the takedown lever into the FCU / grip module.
Thanks for the great tip. I recently purchased the Sig 365. Yes, I was lucky to get one. Prior to firing the pistol, I attempted to break it down for a cleaning. My problem and it was major, was with the slide pulled back in the locked position, I could not get the take down lever to slide down. I eventually got it to operate (don’t know how) but is there something I need to know that sig hasn’t address as to how to get the take down lever to operate more easily? .. thanks.
Hi great tip. I got a question often times before putting my slide on I will turn my lever down then put my slide on. I often when turning lever down I feel something kind of binding causing slide stop and sear to slightly raise everytime that happens Does that damage any of the parts?
I had to do the same thing about 10x but I finally figured it was my spring that was upside down or horizontal not vertical like it needed to be. Kind of a weird design if you ask me but Sig apparently knows what they are doing! I love my P320X!!!
My problems were doubled because I had a P250 before the 320 and the 250 doesn't have that little idiosyncrasy. It took a little while to figure it out.
Pull the trigger and push takedown lever at same time . Its moves a piece of metal out the way of the takedown lever making it much easier toove takedown lever
Outlaw you are my Hero. The lever was soooo hard to move, I was dreading having to clean the gun again. Even dreaming up ways to jury-rig a tool of some kind to help turn it (which I never actually accomplished). Now, pulling the trigger as you suggest has made it a breeze and it worked the very first time I tried it. Thank you, thank you -- there should be a quick TH-cam vid posted where poor souls with sore thumbs can find it!
This is the only pistol out of many I own, that have these issues; So much for simplicity. Hopefully in a combat situation while in a rush with the new SIG p320 now issued to us I can remember to do this.
Ok this is the first video I’ve seen where somebody shows how to lock the slide back. If you just take out the magazine and slide thr upper to the rear it won’t locked back by itself you have to push that lever up to that notch. And there’s lots of videos out there showing how to disassemble it but they don’t go into that detail right there of how to lock to slide back. I don’t know how you took it apart without locking the slide back lol
I do have an interesting question that no one has been able to answer. I have a new sig p320 but there is slide moment up and down on the last round and during dry fire. I have sent the gun into sig and was told this was not an issue at 10 yards so they will not replace the fcu. This is not an issue with any of my other p320's and short of getting a new fcu, I do not know a work around. It seems the tolerance between the fcu and slide is the issue, and since the slide doesn't have that issue on the other FCU's that I have put it on, I am let to think I have a bad stock FCU housing and sig is refusing replace this. I again am open to thoughts and options
My 1st love of TH-cam is the instant access to obscure songs and videos. 2nd is these instructional videos. Thanks Alphabet.
New gun owner. I was trying to put it back together and thought I was going crazy. You saved me time!
You're a life saver. I had that dead trigger and I was starting to cuss. This video saved me a few grey hairs.
I did this exact thing.... I was about to lose my mind. I set it aside. Sat down later and I'm glad I watched your video first. I lifted the lever and pop right back together. Thank you so much... this is why I love you guys

I'm so glad I watched this...I've got some money down on one Sig Sauer P32O AXG PRO
You really save me today! I tried some many times to resemble my Sig Sauer M18 and I couldn’t load magazine after that. I almost went crazy lol but when I watched your video. I end up fixing it. Thank you
Same here! Thinking ah shit, broke it already. lol Thank you!
Like everyone else, I had the same issue. Read the manual, looked on the Sig website… nothing. Searching here on TH-cam…. Bingo found the right video, not very long and problem directly solved! Thank you for saving me thinking I reassembled incorrectly.
This clarified something that had been bothering me for quite a while! Thanks.
This may be the reason for the negligent discharges being reported
Thank you..i had to watch like 3 different videos several times to figure out what i was doing wrong..but i got it now..i appreciate it
First time gun owner, starting with an Sig M18 P320. This was very helpful. 👍🏻
Thank you. Just got a P320 spectre and for the life of me could not figured it out. Very helpful video.
This is the best video on the internet right now. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. Worked perfect after your instruction.
Excellent video!!! You have made trigger installation/removal look so easy. Information like this is very educational and makes one very receptive to performing gunsmith procedures. Thanks from a subscriber.

Holy sh** thank you for this comment I was losing my mind. XCompact
I was losing my mind and thought I broke my gun. This comment perfectly describes the solution.
I like how he says I put it together 6, 8, maybe 12 times lol.
He must've lost count around 5.
Just picked up my first Sig P320X, just wanted to say thank you, you saved me a bunch of time! I thought I was going crazy or that I somehow broke it.
Will have someone in my class tomorrow with a 320. So happy I found this! Will make me look like I know what I’m talking about (even though I’m a Glock guy!) Well done Coach!
After going nuts for two hours I found your video Thank You.
I’m a little late to your video, but I just had this problem. Bought the 320 used (no manual) disassembled it, wouldn’t go back together, until I stumbled onto the solution. I’m subscribed
Superb information! I am going to use this information tonight on my Sig Sauer P 320. Thank you so much!

This is the informative video every new sig owner should watch on purchase.
Thank you for your video. I was having trouble putting my gun back together, the takedown lever was giving me grief, after watching your video i was able to put it back, no problem.
Clear, short & to the point. Thanks much!
Military Arms Channel had this same problem in their review of the M17. I'm glad I understand this, now.
Yup...read the manual...Dohhh. Just had a panic attack thinking I'd FUBAR'd my new P320...thanks for another great video!
Great to know. Thank you very much for the video. I love my three sig P320's.
More than that, for the ones in 9mm caliber, one has to place the recoil spring in a precise way otherwise it won't work.
So many flaws in the 320.
i have a p320 RX on order i'm glad i've seen you're great video, i never read directions either
I had this trouble thank you so muck
Just bought the Texas Ranger Edition a couple days ago. I can't wait to rest it out this weekend!
Mine worked for a while, now I can't get the slide on again. I've taken it off many times, but today, I push it back, lock it, and the take down lever is stuck and will not move. Great, great and again great. Thans. I had the same problem because to remove the cart I was not locking it properly.
My sincere thanks for your informative video .Now that I know these tips , I am quite proficient and can do this quickly . Again thank you .. Cheers from Canada.
Great video, thanks from a new p320 owner
Very helpful. As a tip ensure the main spring guide rod is oriented correctly against the barrel lug.The guide rod has flat and curved surfaces. The curved surface needs to be touching the barrel lug or the pistol can't be reassembled.
Exactly, that's another problem with this pistol.
This happened to me today. But while I was going through the trouble shooting, I locked my slide back and wallah. I didn’t know why it worked, I just know that it worked. Thank you for explaining
Thanks. My newly purchased m17 does the same thing. I guess the point is if you take the gun down and reassemble like you're suppose to it works.
Had the same issue and I was trying to figure why!!! Now I know. Great video. ( p320x5 legion)
Also there is fun to be had when you e move the takedown lever when disassembling. Remember to put it back first prior to trying reassembly
You just saved me a lot more frustration then I needed... thank you.😛
I just came upon this randomly. Earlier this evening I was cleaning my 320 and came face to face with the same problem. I cleared it but didn’t know how until now. What a coincidence or was TH-cam secretly listening to me cursing. 😉
Yup. I did that in the store, before even buying the gun.
Shortcuts are sometimes the long way round.
Thank you so much I tried and tried to put my sig back and it didn't work. After watching your video I'm back in bussiness. Also this is my first sig thought I broke it lol once again thank you for your video
Perfect. Well explained. Thank you.
Thanks for explaining this so well.
Wish I would have watched this video before I busted a blood vessel in my brain. Thanks for the info! Great help!
Same. Ugh!
I couldn't figure this out. Thanks Brownells!
Yes discovered that error today. A local gun shop helped me figure it out.
Guy is awesome I was playing and disassembling the pistol too and took me couple tries to realize what was going on. Cool hardship I’d call it gotta play like an engineer to quickly understand what’s going on like I did lol
Thank you, I'v just spent 20 min trying to figure this out. Next beers on me.
Thanks for the video. You saved me so much time
you can throw the lever before putting the slide back on and locking it to rear and it will move the lever out of the way and then it will click back in place on its own too. Try it.
Very clear and brief! Thank you
The key event that happens when you lift the slide stop in reassembly is that the other end of that piece of metal (or assembly of metal) that blocks the magazine slips into place to lock the takedown lever into the FCU / grip module.
The next time, you guys make a video, can you turn the background music up a little bit more?
Great tip & excellent video.
True life saver lol 😂 he made it look so simple and now it’s so easy- thank you Detroit Support
Best video explanation so far , well done , I will suscribe 👍🏻
Thanks for the great tip. I recently purchased the Sig 365. Yes, I was lucky to get one. Prior to firing the pistol, I attempted to break it down for a cleaning. I just bought one. Thanks for this!
Thank you! Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.
I figured this one out myself.
The slide lock must be lifted to allow the magazine disconnect/safe mech to be reset to it functional position.
Great video that’s exactly what happened to me the first time I field stripped my 320
Thanks. Just what I needed!
Very informative video. Ty for the tips
I just encountered the same thing on my XTEN, except I was able to pull the trigger and dry fire the gun. I could not insert the magazine all the way.
Hi great tip. I got a question often times before putting my slide on I will turn my lever down then put my slide on. I often when turning lever down I feel something kind of binding causing slide stop and sear to slightly raise everytime that happens Does that damage any of the parts?
I did it a few times before getting it...Thanks, Aloha G

One thing I didnt see him mention is when you put the recoil spring back in, it needs to be straight up and down, or it wont sit properly
My problems were doubled because I had a P250 before the 320 and the 250 doesn't have that little idiosyncrasy. It took a little while to figure it out.
Yes you just got saved. So now I know. Thanks 👍

Thank you so much for saving me hours of time. :-)
I had same issue and resolved, Thanks.
This is the only pistol out of many I own, that have these issues; So much for simplicity. Hopefully in a combat situation while in a rush with the new SIG p320 now issued to us I can remember to do this.
MILVET ARMY put it back on the same way you took it off. Practice practice practice!
That 320c is a sweet gun
Nice tip. Thanks!
Can you show us how do you pull the take down level perfectly? Its quite a troublesome to pull out and put back in.
Ok this is the first video I’ve seen where somebody shows how to lock the slide back. And there’s lots of videos out there showing how to disassemble it but they don’t go into that detail right there of how to lock to slide back. I don’t know how you took it apart without locking the slide back lol
I just had the issue in 2020! Thank you :)
Thanks. Needed this just now.
Omg you are an awesome guy. Know it works thank you
VERY HELPFUL Thank You!
I do have an interesting question that no one has been able to answer.
I have a new sig p320 but there is slide moment up and down on the last round and during dry fire. I again am open to thoughts and options
The other fun one is forgetting to put the takedown lever back in if you removed the FCU... that one sucked to figure out.
Thanks so much, I thought my sig was broke. Thanks again
This trigger issue happened to me too the first time I tried putting the slide back on.
I love this man!
Good to know -- very helpful
