The FitcamX looks really great. On their website they show a rear camera that is available with the forward facing camera. I really like the idea of adding a rear camera. Since you did not go over that in your review I have to ask if you think a rear camera is worth the expense. I also noted on their website that they show a diagram for wiring the rear camera that requires running a wire along the headliner to connect up to the front location. This is not something I would feel comfortable doing myself so my second question is, How do you find a competent mechanic to install a dash cam? should I ask the Hyundai dealer to do it?
Also, just something I wanted to add that I've learned since my previous comment: The camera button on the dashcam will take a picture. It's a terrible, terrible quality picture. I'm talking like 16x16 resolution, even with 12MP selected for the quality. It's a useless feature. HOWEVER, the camera button will also lock the current recording, so it's great to press if you want to save the last 1/3/5min of footage. Locking the footage means it will not be overwritten in the loop recording.

It's not bad actually. I have a couple videos on my channel with my EV6 version (same camera) including 5 minutes on the highway at dusk. It's better than 1080p cameras and decent for 4k. It's not a Sony sensor, but it's not horrible.

a little hello from France. the camera is not bad. Too bad there is no parking function. there seems to be enough room to add a charger and an in-line battery. I did this for a small oscilloscope which works great. But behind the windshield it must heat up with the sun...🤔 🇨🇵😉
Received one today and installed it on my 2024 ioniq 5 that has a dimming rearview mirror. Easy to install. I don't know why in Canada the that 2024 i5 doesn't have digital rear view mirror. Thanks for the great install video.

Your comments about the lack of a parking mode imply that the unit is powered only when the car is turned on. Can you confirm this? Pass. No rear/cable view/parking mode/built in power ( there is PLENTY of room there for a small battery pack ) makes this a no go really. Do they do other cars such as a 21 BoltEV?
Tried it. Worked for a while. Can't connect to it now. One of my mount clips came off the windshield installing it. Don't like it. Waste of a lot of money..
Some no-name company, which is too afraid to even list the sensor model they use in their cameras and who do not have any firmware available for download for their cameras and do not allow to adjust basic camera settings like HDR/WDR or video bitrate, for $190? Thanks, but I'd rather stick to tried-and-true $90 Viofo cams in all my cars, which can do much more than this cam, produce objectively better image quality at any time of the day and have much better manufacturer's software/firmware support.
This is not the best in class. There is a Viofo that uses STARVIS2 sensor, and I wish the FITCAMX would have even starvis 1. However, this cam is all about OEM look and that is also a big plus. Additionally it is above average cams. Not top, bit above average.

The most sleek looking dashcam for Ioniq 5 but my concerns are around privacy. After reviewing the privacy policy of the manufacturer, which is just a Shopify template, I don’t trust them to not be sharing our data in markets and China. Curious on your review about Garmin dashcam, as that’s the only one I could find which is affordable and manufactured in US and has parking mode.

I'm probably the least handy guy out there, but after watching your video I decided to purchase and install the FitcamX. The installation was every bit as easy as you described. Great recommendation, I really like it. I've moved to Ireland and driving on these narrow country roads where drivers are sometimes on your side of the road I'm glad I have a camera that can aid if, god forbid, I should be in an accident. I mean you shouldn't have to connect to the dash cam all that often. No, I switched to iPhone late last year and I had issues with the Carlinkit so I just went back to wired.
I was up until a couple months ago when I installed the Comma 3X in the Ioniq 5. I won’t be installing one in the 6 for now as having the base model means I have to run wiring to the fuse panel which I don’t really feel like doing. It was still working great up until til the time I took it out though.
Unrelated Ioniq5 question - this has been driving me nuts. Why does the heat or A/C system go on everytime I turn on the radio? Anyone else seeing this?

It says if you want save a recording you must download the footage to your phone via the APP before you turn the car off….if the car goes off or if it loses all power in an accident …do you have to pull the SD card to get the footage? @@bitkahuna Yup they do. I bought it with the rear cam & I like it so far. The only problem is the rear camera doesn't attach very well with the included 3M and it's a big annoyance. I've tried other 3m, super glue etc, but nothing has made it stick

I’m more concerned about accidents when the car is moving. I’ve had plenty of battery powered dash and that record while parking and by the time I’ve noticed a door ding or whatever, that footage is long recorded over.

not to my knowledge, no. It's almost certain there could be a software update to enable that capability. But there'd have to either be an ample amount of onboard storage in the infotainment unit to save video clips. Or there'd need to be some sort of sd slot or something for external storage upgrades. Which to my knowledge doesnt exist on this car. Which is a shame.
No, I highly doubt it. I believe those only work when the car is on pulling electricity from the battery. They likely wouldn't catch much either given where they are placed.
No, you have days of footage before it starts overwriting previous footage. Depends how much you drive. But you can always put a bigger microsd card in

the power supply is taken from that of the mirror, which is only powered if the ioniq 5 is on. 🇨🇵

The app has an uncanny resemblance to VIOFO's dash cam app but I don't see an option for 5 GHz Wi-Fi nor does the dashcam have firmware updates?
Cool look no doubt, but the wide angle is not good enough. I have Thinkware U1000 and that beast can do 180 with no problem.

I did a side-by-side screenshot of them installed from your video. The passenger view is actually annoyingly obstructed vs tucking up above.
Does it have a mode where it only records on specific events, for example emergency break is triggered, horn is activated, car detects crash, etc.
This looks just like my Niro EV setup. Will this work on that too?

Cool but overpriced. I used the donger adapter and a small $50 4k cam that sits behind the mirror. Don’t know if it is worth the premium.

I think the Koreans have this option available, in other markets this would be more difficult to provide due to legal reasons.
