    Thank you for these recommendations. I installed your suggested LED bulbs today and they look so much better. A couple of comments about the installations: the plastic tool that comes with the bulbs is all you need to pry out all three light fixtures. For the trunk light, I struggled with getting the lens off in the manner you showed until I turned the fixture around and used a small screwdriver to remove the lens from the opposite end. For the vanity lights, I didn't need to remove the lens at all. I gently pried the bulbs out using the plastic tool from the LED bulb package. Again, thank you for this and your other videos.

    Just a suggestion, when changing wiper blades, always put a pillow or rolled up towel or something similar on the windscreen. I know from experience that if the wiper arm snaps back onto glass with the wiper removed, it will crack the windscreen.

    • @thelonewrangler1008

      Or you could just use the same effort of getting a pillow or towel and put it towards not letting the arm smack the glass. It's not like this is something exclusive to this car, it's common sense that if you let a spring loaded piece of metal hit glass it's probably gonna break

      @@thelonewrangler1008 we're all human and we all make mistakes, even you, no matter how hard we focus or how careful we are. Maybe you bump the arm as you pull the old blade away, maybe it slips out of your hand, perhaps you have to reach for the passenger arm making it harder to control. There is always a chance no matter how perfect you think you are, grabbing a towel takes seconds and is good insurance.

      I have changed my own wiper blades for years - never heard this. Then I read this suggestion on the l wiper blade package and thought, "That's so silly!"
      Wasn't so silly when the 2nd wiper arm slipped out of my hand as I removed the old blade and put a big crack across the passenger side.
      Got it repaired easily by Safelite, but had to take it in and wait around because it had something for crash avoidance attached to windshield which needed to be recalibrated in their shop when moved to the new windshield, (Couldn't be done by a mobile installer.)
      Now I share this tip whenever someone mentions replacing their blades.

    Thanks for great suggestions. Bosch fan here so I got the Bosch Icon 26A and 18A wipers. I also just finished putting in the LED bulbs for the cargo area (very easy) and the visors. (Glove box lighting not critical for me and that wire was so short according to another reply.) Found that the 2 visor bulbs can be swapped from the back of the housings without prying at the plastic cover which started gouging the casing. Thanks again.

    Hyundai Ioniq 5 owner's manual states that you should charge the battery to 100% at least once every month to provide optimal performance. It also states that it is the DC charging that degrades the battery performance over time so the owner is advised to use AC charging whenever possible.
    And I totally support the wipers' change claim. Having one winter with Ioniq 5 I've become accustomed to giving each wiper a slap before every ride, otherwise they would clean anything but the area right in front of the driver.

    • @PeterEVcharade
      @PeterEVcharade ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason to occasionally charge to 100% is 1) the car does cell balancing at 100% and 2) the battery gauge is recalibrated ie it learns where the top is. The only 'performance' benefit is that you get a slightly more accurate battery gauge and balancing ensures the maximum capacity of the least good cell is the limit on total battery capacity. It does not need to be done very often.

    Been thinking about getting the Ioniq 5 as our first EV. And don't get me wrong these are good advice. But I really don't think these things should be necessary and definitely should be like that from the factory. Other things that are a bit off-putting are the missing rear wiper, non wireless Apple CarPlay and no USB-C ports. But there should be quite a few upgrades to the 2023 model so I hope at least some of these issues will be solved. And I certainly still haven't written the Ioniq 5 off yet. Thanks for the vid :)

    I installed the rest of the LED lamps today. The visor bulbs were easy. For some reason I thought you also replaced the glove box lamp. So I tried. What I liked about the LED was that they have a heat sync on the back and the light only faces one direction. I removed the housing for the glovebox lamp. Unfortunatelly I accidently broke one of the wires for the switch. Dang! That wire was WAY TOO short. I will replace/extend it later when I think I can remove the glove box for access. But for now I like it. The LED is positioned to point toward the back of the deep storage area. Now it is useful. I'm not sure if I want to clean up the install. I kinda like the character it offers, showing the bare wires soldered onto the LED bulb. Good thing all the interior lights turn off after the car is off and locked. I will have to monitor how things go when the car is on cuz my glovebox LED light will just stay on until I fix that wire.

    You don't need to remove the plastic "glass" from the vanity lights. You slide the light out from the back.
    The vanity and trunk lights are 31mm. There's probably better links than the combo of mixed lights you put in the links. I bought the combo not knowing exactly what I would have had to replace but in that kit there's only 2 of the 31mm lights whereas you need 3 to cover the vanity and trunk, meaning I now have to order another kit (to keep the same type of lights).
    Hopefully others will read my message and won't make my same mistake.
    On the rest, I don't have any particular comment. Good job putting together an extensive list of accessories!

    Did you get any PPF (paint protection film) or ceramic coating for your new IQ5? I'm in arizona and due to high winds, instead of mulch they use rocks. So as you can understand your car front bumper is target practice for rocks, as well as the windshield. And one thing I hate is rock chips. Especially on a $60K car.

    • @TheIoniqGuy
      @TheIoniqGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Oh man I can only imagine. I didn't get any PPF or ceramic coating.
      I used to be super obsessive about paint chips and would get all bent out of shape over them but I grew tired after many years and just accepted that it's bound to happen and pretty much every car has or will get them somewhere. My Mazda CX-5 had some of the thinnest paint I've ever experienced. Whenever I wash the car I just give it a look over and use a touch up paint paint to fill any rock chips. I personally believe that I wouldn't get my money back for the cost of PPF if it were for sale side by side with a car that did have it after say 30k miles. To each their own though.

    Hi, Thank you for posting I was most interested and informed by your informative video. Please advise, are the Trunk, Vanity, Glove Box and Front Fruit Box all the same size / wattage LED Bulbs? Lastly why only charge to 80% and not 100%?

    • @serious69er
      @serious69er 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically the physics of batteries means the ideal battery health is between 20-80%. So maintaining your battery in that range will minimize battery wear compared to going from 0-100% every time. There's also some issues with holding a battery at 100% charge for long periods of time, although I'm fairly sure they've managed to fix those issues on the latest smartphones, so I assume Hyundai has too.

    What size Bosch Icon wipers does the car take? The Bosch website doesn’t list any wipers that fit the Ionic 5. Thank you!

    Does the 2023 Ioniq 5 also comes with incandescent bulbs in cargo? Any recommendations for 2023 Ioniq 5 SEL owners?

      Yes, the 2023 models all come with incandescent bulbs. Change them out for the 31mm LEDs.

    Hi, UK here, hopefully(long long story!) getting my I5 in July. Can you give an insight into availablity of the I5 in the US at the moment. I've heard you can literally walk into a Hyundai dealership and drive one away. That would be frustrating to hear as I ordered my first one nearly a year ago, only for it to be cancelled in January. Told I had to reorder and given July delivery date. If something goes wrong with this, I'm walking away. Fingers crossed, as I am really looking forward to it👍.

      Depending on where you are in the United States, you can very easily get a base model AWD. There are some here in New England that have been sitting on dealer lots for over 2 months now

      In SoCal some dealers have SE and SEL on the lot with huge markups.
      Any dealer that sells with no mark ups or add-ons sells them within an hour of them arriving. I’ve even heard of cases where multiple people got into arguments because they were both waiting for the delivery truck.
      Limited Trim models are definitely not available for a walk in. Those are essentially sold before they come in, based on many many blog posts I’ve read.

      These California dealerships are out of control. The 2023s will begin arriving in a few short months so maybe once those hit the lots they'll have a hard time selling the remaining 2022s and someone can score a deal on one at their expense.

      @@TheIoniqGuy Until the demand/supply equation changes, the UpPricing situation isn't going to change. There won't be any 'deals' on 2022 models because it isn't like dealers have dozens of 2022 models just sitting around.
