    Thank you for these recommendations. I installed your suggested LED bulbs today and they look so much better. A couple of comments about the installations: the plastic tool that comes with the bulbs is all you need to pry out all three light fixtures. For the trunk light, I struggled with getting the lens off in the manner you showed until I turned the fixture around and used a small screwdriver to remove the lens from the opposite end. For the vanity lights, I didn't need to remove the lens at all. I gently pried the bulbs out using the plastic tool from the LED bulb package. Again, thank you for this and your other videos.

    Just a suggestion, when changing wiper blades, always put a pillow or rolled up towel or something similar on the windscreen. I know from experience that if the wiper arm snaps back onto glass with the wiper removed, it will crack the windscreen.

    • @thelonewrangler1008
      @thelonewrangler1008 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Or you could just use the same effort of getting a pillow or towel and put it towards not letting the arm smack the glass. It's not like this is something exclusive to this car, it's common sense that if you let a spring loaded piece of metal hit glass it's probably gonna break

      @@thelonewrangler1008 we're all human and we all make mistakes, even you, no matter how hard we focus or how careful we are. Maybe you bump the arm as you pull the old blade away, maybe it slips out of your hand, perhaps you have to reach for the passenger arm making it harder to control. There is always a chance no matter how perfect you think you are, grabbing a towel takes seconds and is good insurance.

      I have changed my own wiper blades for years - never heard this. Then I read this suggestion on the l wiper blade package and thought, "That's so silly!"
      Wasn't so silly when the 2nd wiper arm slipped out of my hand as I removed the old blade and put a big crack across the passenger side.
      Got it repaired easily by Safelite, but had to take it in and wait around because it had something for crash avoidance attached to windshield which needed to be recalibrated in their shop when moved to the new windshield, (Couldn't be done by a mobile installer.)
      Now I share this tip whenever someone mentions replacing their blades.

    I finally got around to installing the led vanity bulbs and I found that it was unnecessary to remove the lens cover, that the bulb can be removed out the other side. I found this to be much easier.

    The arm rest compartment is a good spot for sunglasses. That’s where I have mine and napkins. Also should definitely wash and ceramic coat it. The paint chips real easy. Lastly, since there is no back windshield wiper, definitely hydro slick it. You know, rain X out something better. It’s terrible in the rain or sleet. Hope that helps.

    Just leased an Ioni1 5 one week ago today. Love the car, but the center console area is a disaster, looks cheap and you can store virtually nothing with out things sliding all around and being hard to retrieve. Best way to fix is to install seat gap storage trays, the car is useless without them.

    Great video. I have a 2023 Ioniq 5. I'm a bit confused about LED bulb sizes. Your link lists a site for 28mm bulbs, but in your various answers to questions, you suggest ordering 31mm bulbs. When I look at other manufacturers of LED bulbs selling on Amazon and I select 31mm, the Amazon garage says they won't fit my 2023 vehicle. So, is it 28/29mm or 31mm?

    Been thinking about getting the Ioniq 5 as our first EV. And don't get me wrong these are good advice. But I really don't think these things should be necessary and definitely should be like that from the factory. Other things that are a bit off-putting are the missing rear wiper, non wireless Apple CarPlay and no USB-C ports. But there should be quite a few upgrades to the 2023 model so I hope at least some of these issues will be solved. And I certainly still haven't written the Ioniq 5 off yet. Thanks for the vid :)

    I am thrilled to see that navigation details and maps are stored on the vehicle itself! It won't be as up to date as vehicles that rely on the cloud, but it's going to work when traveling in areas with no cellular service. I was in Yellowstone National Park and Apple CarPlay was useless when there was no service away from a few places in the park. Our Tesla is also useless when we drive through the Sierra Nevada in California.

    You don't need to remove the plastic "glass" from the vanity lights. You slide the light out from the back.
    The vanity and trunk lights are 31mm. There's probably better links than the combo of mixed lights you put in the links. I bought the combo not knowing exactly what I would have had to replace but in that kit there's only 2 of the 31mm lights whereas you need 3 to cover the vanity and trunk, meaning I now have to order another kit (to keep the same type of lights).
    Hopefully others will read my message and won't make my same mistake.
    On the rest, I don't have any particular comment. Good job putting together an extensive list of accessories!

(Glove box lighting not critical for me and that wire was so short according to another reply.) Found that the 2 visor bulbs can be swapped from the back of the housings without prying at the plastic cover which started gouging the casing. Thanks again.

    You need to show there’s a slot on your wooden holder that’s holding the sunglasses arms to prove they are very stable - otherwise people will assume they are just lightly balanced on top of the nose and will fall off too easily when driving .
    Add on a few seconds clip with you shaking them in the air with sunglasses attached to prove they stay on really well.

    I installed the rest of the LED lamps today. The visor bulbs were easy. For some reason I thought you also replaced the glove box lamp. So I tried. What I liked about the LED was that they have a heat sync on the back and the light only faces one direction. I removed the housing for the glovebox lamp. Unfortunatelly I accidently broke one of the wires for the switch. Dang! That wire was WAY TOO short. I will replace/extend it later when I think I can remove the glove box for access. But for now I like it. The LED is positioned to point toward the back of the deep storage area. Now it is useful. I'm not sure if I want to clean up the install. I kinda like the character it offers, showing the bare wires soldered onto the LED bulb. Good thing all the interior lights turn off after the car is off and locked. I will have to monitor how things go when the car is on cuz my glovebox LED light will just stay on until I fix that wire.

    Did you get any PPF (paint protection film) or ceramic coating for your new IQ5? I'm in arizona and due to high winds, instead of mulch they use rocks. So as you can understand your car front bumper is target practice for rocks, as well as the windshield. And one thing I hate is rock chips. Especially on a $60K car.

      @TheIoniqGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Oh man I can only imagine. I didn't get any PPF or ceramic coating.
      I used to be super obsessive about paint chips and would get all bent out of shape over them but I grew tired after many years and just accepted that it's bound to happen and pretty much every car has or will get them somewhere. My Mazda CX-5 had some of the thinnest paint I've ever experienced. Whenever I wash the car I just give it a look over and use a touch up paint paint to fill any rock chips. I personally believe that I wouldn't get my money back for the cost of PPF if it were for sale side by side with a car that did have it after say 30k miles. To each their own though.

      Just thought: rear view mirrors that are digital can pose issues if your eyes are slow to focus (most of us over 40 yo) as they are an arm's length focal distance. Everything on the road is much father away for focus. A real mirror keeps the focal length of the original object as that is where reflected the light is coming from. Slower eyes will have trouble with a blur with a digital mirror without glasses made for close viewing - which don't work for the road. Bifocals would work - but you would have to tip your head _way_ back.
