Thank you for these recommendations. I installed your suggested LED bulbs today and they look so much better. A couple of comments about the installations: the plastic tool that comes with the bulbs is all you need to pry out all three light fixtures. For the trunk light, I struggled with getting the lens off in the manner you showed until I turned the fixture around and used a small screwdriver to remove the lens from the opposite end. For the vanity lights, I didn't need to remove the lens at all. I gently pried the bulbs out using the plastic tool from the LED bulb package. Again, thank you for this and your other videos.
Just a suggestion, when changing wiper blades, always put a pillow or rolled up towel or something similar on the windscreen. I know from experience that if the wiper arm snaps back onto glass with the wiper removed, it will crack the windscreen.
Or you could just use the same effort of getting a pillow or towel and put it towards not letting the arm smack the glass. It's not like this is something exclusive to this car, it's common sense that if you let a spring loaded piece of metal hit glass it's probably gonna break

Great video. I have a 2023 Ioniq 5. I'm a bit confused about LED bulb sizes. Your link lists a site for 28mm bulbs, but in your various answers to questions, you suggest ordering 31mm bulbs. When I look at other manufacturers of LED bulbs selling on Amazon and I select 31mm, the Amazon garage says they won't fit my 2023 vehicle. So, is it 28/29mm or 31mm?

Nice idea for the sunglasses, but the nose on the thing makes it look too dorky for the elegance of the car. Can you come up with a different design? Maybe a tiered design to hold two rather than taking up so much space with two. Just a couple of ideas. What do you think?
I installed the rest of the LED lamps today. The visor bulbs were easy. For some reason I thought you also replaced the glove box lamp. So I tried. What I liked about the LED was that they have a heat sync on the back and the light only faces one direction. I removed the housing for the glovebox lamp. Unfortunatelly I accidently broke one of the wires for the switch. Dang! That wire was WAY TOO short. I will replace/extend it later when I think I can remove the glove box for access. But for now I like it. The LED is positioned to point toward the back of the deep storage area. Now it is useful. I'm not sure if I want to clean up the install. I kinda like the character it offers, showing the bare wires soldered onto the LED bulb. Good thing all the interior lights turn off after the car is off and locked. I will have to monitor how things go when the car is on cuz my glovebox LED light will just stay on until I fix that wire.
@@TheIoniqGuy Can you give a little more detail / tips on replacing the glove box light? What is meant by "the wire is way too short"? Does the whole light assembly have to be removed from the glove box (similar to the cargo area)?
I think you want the 30 mm LED bulbs for the vanity lights, 28s are a bit loose. The 30 mm will also probably work for the rear trunk light, as that is a different socket.
Did you get any PPF (paint protection film) or ceramic coating for your new IQ5? I'm in arizona and due to high winds, instead of mulch they use rocks. So as you can understand your car front bumper is target practice for rocks, as well as the windshield. And one thing I hate is rock chips. Especially on a $60K car.
Oh man I can only imagine. I didn't get any PPF or ceramic coating. I used to be super obsessive about paint chips and would get all bent out of shape over them but I grew tired after many years and just accepted that it's bound to happen and pretty much every car has or will get them somewhere. My Mazda CX-5 had some of the thinnest paint I've ever experienced. Whenever I wash the car I just give it a look over and use a touch up paint paint to fill any rock chips. I personally believe that I wouldn't get my money back for the cost of PPF if it were for sale side by side with a car that did have it after say 30k miles. To each their own though.
@@TheIoniqGuy ‘paint protection’ is a common add-on that many (close to ‘most’) dealers are requiring, on Limited at least, and probably especially on Limited RWD when they start arriving, as a way to make more money. I’ve been meaning to google if they offer any actual protection. (I’m sure different dealers offer different flavors).

Just thought: rear view mirrors that are digital can pose issues if your eyes are slow to focus (most of us over 40 yo) as they are an arm's length focal distance. Everything on the road is much father away for focus. A real mirror keeps the focal length of the original object as that is where reflected the light is coming from. Slower eyes will have trouble with a blur with a digital mirror without glasses made for close viewing - which don't work for the road. Bifocals would work - but you would have to tip your head _way_ back.
Love the info. 1. Tint 2. Ceika coilovers or perhaps air ride. 3. Subwoofers. *to be fair, unsure how custom sound systems effect EV's* 4. Light swap (bulbs) 5. tires/wheels.
Great video. As an Android/Pixel phone user, I think getting wireless Android Auto is a must. Been super happy with my Motorola MA1, though they are super difficult to find right now. Not sure what iPhone folks are doing for wireless. Would love to get all weather mats but they are also seemingly impossible to find. Not sure why, but the "auto power liftgate on approach" setting was off on my Ioniq. Definitely worth turning on even if it's just a parlor trick.
For all-weather mats, I recommend getting cut-to-fit mats at AutoZone/O'Reilly's and cutting them to size with a pair of scissors. You'll save plenty of money that way and they're really easy to keep clean.

Great suggestions, thanks! A question: our Ford Focus Electric responded to the remote unlock with all the exterior lights turning on. A very nice welcome and made her easy to find in the parking lot. Is there a similar capability in the Ionic 5?
We leased two Focus Electrics and loved them. Our residual was crazy high and our monthly payments were crazy low. Once Ford announced the discontinuance of this car, they disappeared off of dealer lots immediately. The final model had much more range and DC fast charging.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 Virtual Manual specifically states that you should charge your battery to 100%. They also recommend to wait until it is below 20% before charging.
Great job. Appreciate your videos very much. Re: home L2 chargers. Is it better to set charge scheduling using charger software or the Ioniq 5 software? Thank you.

The contacts for the bulbs are flexible so 31mm will probably work but you may have to force them in. I would just find any other 28mm festoon bulb and use that but that’s up to you
Curious... i think only the Limited has the multiple driver seat config buttons (1 & 2) and we're planning to get the SEL... can you customize the seat position with the user profile? That would be a great way to get around not having those buttons cuz we find it super convenient in our current car since we switch off a lot.. thx!

Same thing almost happened to me with the glove box light that's why I didn't recommend doing it in the video, just too risky.
Good suggestions. My 2023 is scheduled for January 2023 delivery. I’m HOPING it’s got the digital rear view mirror. 😮
What country are you in?
@@TheIoniqGuy Canada. British Columbia.
Just watched your video on having the Ioniq 5 power your house as that’s a bit of an issue here. Definitely going to get those mods made to my panel when the car comes in.
Just wanted to say your videos are terrific and I hope you keep it up. There’s lots of room on TH-cam for niche channels. There’s a guy who specializes in American cars of the 50’s & 60’s (Rare Classic Cars & Automotive History) and I’ve watched him go from 10K subs to 70K in just a few months. So please keep it coming. Cheers.
Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately for you, I don’t believe any cars in North America are getting the digital rear view mirror for 2023. Cheers
While changing the rear LED lights in the trunk, my wire fell into the hole and I can’t find it. Any suggestions on how I can bring the wire back up?
Love the info.
1. Tint
2. Ceika coilovers or perhaps air ride.
3. Subwoofers. *to be fair, unsure how custom sound systems effect EV's*
4. Light swap (bulbs)
5. tires/wheels.
I'm an iPhone user so As for the wireless I have no solution yet. Just plugging in for now
iPhone is plug in only for right now. Although you can use Bluetooth but not car play wirelessly
All weather Mats available from Hyundai UK and many other third party outlets.
For all-weather mats, I recommend getting cut-to-fit mats at AutoZone/O'Reilly's and cutting them to size with a pair of scissors. You'll save plenty of money that way and they're really easy to keep clean.
There’s plenty of wireless CarPlay options on amazon. All have a few glitches, but work pretty well.
I just put a deposit down for a 2022/2023 Ioniq 5 and found your video. Great content, thanks for sharing!
What state did you order it & can you pls tell the waiting time?
Hi Corbin: Did you know you can change languages with profile settings? My wife prefers Dutch, I prefer English. My dealer wasn’t sure it was possible, but it is. The language changes the entire interface on both dashboard screens. Best, and thanks for your wonderful video’s. Frits (Netherlands)
So how does keeping the charge between 50 and 80 percent affect your range? Is it still 303 miles?
Just got my ultimatum/lounge MY23. Your comments about the wiper blades did get noticed, I have excellent blades, the left one much bigger than the right one.
Can you please provide link for level 2 charger to install at home . Also those are not for eye glass holder but I guess for your mobile
You can turn on lighting from your bluelink app
FYI in some states tinting front windows will get a Ticket...why Cop Safety
Had mine yesterday 2023 model. Great tips! UK based
What are the led bulbs you recommend please?
So can U tow the ioniq 5, with flat or low battery, bit like regen on roll down hill. But actually being towed.
There is no back windscreen wiper, I have no idea why not ! but get yourself a small window wiper its very handy
Any suggestion for a warmer (2700k-3000k) LED bulbs link?
The LED bulbs come in at least 7 colors, although the Xenon White are probably the ones you will want.
Good recommendations. I would recommend adding a ceramic coating on the whole car as well
Thanks, I like the color of your car. Is that the Teal?
Sure is!
This is great. My car is coming at the end of summer. Is there a way to import music and music playlists in that car?
You can with apple or android car play
Or plug in a usb key
Another helpful video. Appreciate. I don’t know how to replace anything in cars and I am learning through your channel 🙏🏼
Hey is the limited edition Disney have all LED
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 Virtual Manual specifically states that you should charge your battery to 100%. They also recommend to wait until it is below 20% before charging.
Thank you for the video. Are the bulbs 28mm in length?
Correct, 28mm
Great job. Appreciate your videos very much. Re: home L2 chargers. Is it better to set charge scheduling using charger software or the Ioniq 5 software?
Thank you.
Dang. For the amount we have to shell out, a lot of these upgrades should be included.
Excellent video. Very informative. You imparted way more information than the dealer did today when I picked up my new Ioniq5. First thing tomorrow I will be implementing most of those updates and changes.
Enjoy your amazing new machine! What did you get?
@@TheIoniqGuy Because of the crazy market and long wait times, I told the dealer I would take ANY SE or SEL that came in, regardless of color, although I told them I strongly preferred any color other than black. (I like cars that are visible in nighttime driving conditions.)
So of course they called and said hey we have a gray one, is that good? I go to the dealership to do the paperwork, and they have only a black SE. So now I own a black Ioniq 5 SE. Oh well. I will learn to love it, or get it painted. :)
I'm sorry you didn't get exactly what you wanted. What area are you located in? There's at least 2 or 3 dozen SEs in all colors around here in CT. You could always get it wrapped. That'd be a lot cheaper than painting
@@TheIoniqGuy Thanks for your personal interest in my situation. I'm in San Diego, CA. My dad lives in Putnam CT, and I plan on visiting him on or about his 88th birthday, which will be in September. I've contemplated driving cross country- that would be an adventure in an EV, as I'm sure the infrastructure for charging isn't built out like the fossil fuel stations are.
I don't think you'd have any issues with infrastructure, it's pretty well filled in across the middle of the country. Would definitely be a new experience though, good or bad.
Excellent video ! Thank you - What is the easiest way to change the glove compartment light to LED ? Did not see that in the video ...
No easy way. Too difficult to disconnect the module without breaking wires. Trust me, it's not worth it

Without that this car would be out of our reach ... Thanks once again...
Any tips on removing the previous owner's (expired) bluelink account from the car? When i go into bluelink settings, there are 3 menu items: "reconfigure", which does nothing; and 2 menu items with various modern information. There is no option to remove the current bluelink account.
You have to call Hyundai. I was able to get them to remove the old one without issue.
Is there a way to keep the dashcam powered on and powered by Ioniq when ignition is turned off?
You could either get a dashcam with an internal battery or you'll have to run a wire to the fuse box and tap a circuit that always has power
@@TheIoniqGuy ah I see. I have to leave my car parked in nyc queens sometimes, but I guess this will require more work. I did use your method to pull an usb line from the rear view mirror though. Now just have to figure out the fuse box
First on my list of must have is
Tow bar, studded winter tires, mud guards, LED Hi-beam ramp, protective rubber mats on the back of 2nd row seats and extender rubber mat in the trunk that can cover the bumper.
Have you found an extender rubber mat in the trunk that can cover the bumper?
@@georgewhite3298 But you could just buy a roll of rubber mat and cut to length. Fold in half in trunk and extend when loading.
Need a little help. Just upgraded my basic model to SEL and am surprised that the phone app will not let me save my favorites. Not even on the menu. My software is the most current version. I've loaded my android phone twice and still not there. Any thoughts?
Does the 2023 Ioniq 5 also comes with incandescent bulbs in cargo? Any recommendations for 2023 Ioniq 5 SEL owners?
Yes, the 2023 models all come with incandescent bulbs. Change them out for the 31mm LEDs.
This is one of the most usefull videos I've seen! Thanks!
You are 100% right about dealers over pressurizing the tires. Why do they all do that?
To protect tires during transit, avoids flat spots, somewhat atleast.
They're supposed to adjust to correct pressures before delivery though
Interesting!
@@TheIoniqGuy when a new van arrives at my dealership pressures are usually 70 psi or there about.
So it's on the pre delivery inspection list to adjust pressures among other things.
One note about tire pressures: looking at my (manufacture date JAN/2022) SEL, my data plate says 38 PSI, not 36. Same exact tires as you have, though.
Currently we have an old Leaf and a Tesla 3. Going to trade in the Leaf and get the Ioniq 5. We use a 220 outlet in the garage straight to the cars (We can only charge one at a time.) But we don't have a level 2 charger like this. What is the benefit? Thanks. I enjoy your channel!!
Thanks Guy! What are you using to charge your Tesla?
@@TheIoniqGuy Just the supplied Tesla cord from the 220 outlet to the car. We got a giant 220 splitter. One side goes to the Tesla and the other to the Blink wall unit and to my Leaf. It works. We time our charges so they're staggered overnight when rate is lowest.
@@TheIoniqGuy And I just got the call from a dealer last night that a black/black AWD limited is available. I jumped on it! Listed the Leaf today!!

I am curious, having watched the video a few times now, I do not see how the USB LED lights are utilized...?
For the center console.
Hi. I am based in the UK can you quote for the sunglasses holders that you feature, as cannot find them on this side of the pond.
Shipping would be about 13£. If you click the link in the description you can get a total price through Etsy.
Excellent video. Ditto on the dash cam, front window tint. I'm also adding a back of 2nd row seat organizer, a trash can,, neck cushion, and getting a ceramic coating for my matte paint. Looking for a solution to keep the 2nd row seat belt buckles from making noise hitting the pillars.
Do your seatbelts have the large piece of fabric on one side of them? Mine so and as long as they're not twisted I get very little rattling. I've heard people are using Velcro to stick them to the side of the car when not in use.
Like all the ideas except for the window tinting. Safer for everyone to keep them clear; visibility out and into the car matters.
@@TheIoniqGuy yes! Just noticed that today and if flipped into the correct position,.it does minimize rattle. Unfortunately, passengers aka my kids don't care enough to comply
If you don't want it as dark, you can get it in various levels of opaqueness and it doesn't prevent you from seeing out. Certain types block harmful UV radiation that leads to skin cancer
@@TheIoniqGuy I strongly recommend tint that is 35% opaque. I’m in Las Vegas and in the desert cops do not really care how dark it is
Thanks bro very helpful, in normally don’t even comment on this stuff but yours is useful.
can you please give a link to the LED lamps you have changed in trunk and under san shelter?

GREAT STUFF. NO OWNER YET, BUT SHOPPING FOR THE LIMIRTED VS THE SEL. IS THE LIMITED WORTH THE DIFFERENCED IN PRICE ?. SURPRISED THE CHEAPER SEL HAS REAR PARKING & THE LIMITED DOES NOT........ ALSO DO I NEED ALL WHEEL DRIVE IF NOT TOO MUCH SNOW IN MY AREA & NO OFF ROAD DRIVING....
I personally regret not going for the limited. Sounds like RWD would be good for you but RWD limited are very rare and extremely difficult to get
My trunk battery didnt fit in the visor? Did yours?
Trunk battery? Do you mean light bulb?
@@TheIoniqGuy sorry lol bulb.
I didn't attempt to put the trunk bulb in the vanity. The ones shown in the video work in both sockets though so you don't have to worry about fitment

They're the same. 31mm festoon bulb
My first project will be rear view mirror camera. I love great back visibility without blind spots. Especially without rear wiper. Next will be tow and rails. My AWD is already at the dealer parking lot.
I love look of 19inch rims. I have 20inch and they do not look cool enough.
I read that Hyundai plan on including digital centre mirror on 2023 versions of the Ioniq 5 as an optional extra, so you may be able to get them added on from the manufacturer.
Rails ??? The lack of roof rails is one of the biggest bummers about the i5 to me. Please tell me more !
For the USB lights, I got the same ones and they look great. But I notice when driving they don’t stay on. Do the USB ports turn off after a while? Can you change this somewhere in the settings?
They turn on based on ambient light conditions so they'll only illuminate at night
Great video. Incandescent lights and poor quality wipers..... Hopefully Hyundai is watching, too, in order to make a better product. These seem to be easy, exceptionally minimum cost, no-brainers. Makes you wonder what other shortcuts they made in designing the vehicle.
Very helpful, thanks. I have an AWD SEL, and I find the beeping from the proximity sensors very annoying. They go crazy when I pull into or out of my garage, and they even go off in normal traffic, e.g., when I am in a double-turn lane. Do you know of any way to turn these warnings off?
Possibly with OBDII device. There are quite a few custom settings on those.
you mentioned about hooking a dashboard cam with usb to mirror or somthing?
Hi. The amazon link for the bulbs takes me to a site that has 31mm bulbs upwards. Do 31mm fit or only 28mm. Thanks.
The contacts for the bulbs are flexible so 31mm will probably work but you may have to force them in. I would just find any other 28mm festoon bulb and use that but that’s up to you
Thank you.
Hihi, how many LED bulb that u change? 2 for front mirror, and one at rear trunk?
That’s correct
I've got an ionic 5 on order, just wondering if the individual driver profiles also save the drivers seat position as well? Thanks!
Only on ultimate I think from what dealer told me.
Curious... i think only the Limited has the multiple driver seat config buttons (1 & 2) and we're planning to get the SEL... can you customize the seat position with the user profile? That would be a great way to get around not having those buttons cuz we find it super convenient in our current car since we switch off a lot.. thx!
I wish wish wish this were possible. I have the SEL and memory seat positions is the only painful feature exclusion for me.
No, Limited only. Was almost enough to sway me from the SEL but extra $$ and "Limited" availability means I'll stick with my SEL. Mrs.' Fusion has it and it's a great feature.

That shows when the high voltage battery is charging the 12V low voltage battery
I bought Rain X to clean the back windows, because the rain can easily slide from the window, cause it doesn't have a wiper...
11:41 the windshield wiper process is stupid and probably has to be solved by software because some designer or engineer made a mistake. Help me understand why Hyundai couldn’t keep it simple. My 2024 IONIQ 5 is arriving in a couple weeks 😃
Regarding the LED change out: Does anyone know why Hyundai did not provide LED's in these 4 locations, when they did provide LED's in other locations? Got to think it was intentional, and not for cost savings.
Having said that, I ordered the LED's, and will probably replace them shortly.
While replacing the trunk light, I let go of the cable after unplugging it and it fell down into the cavity. Any idea how to get it out?
Bummer! Either take apart the trunk via this video: th-cam.com/video/7Yv7MeC3B08/w-d-xo.html
Or you could get one of these and try to grab it. amzn.to/3NVxX1x
Put a small kink smaller than the connector on the end of a bent hanger and try to get it around the cable so that it pulls the connector up
Thanks for the video link, that is exactly what I was looking for. I'll try the grabber method first, hopefully that works.
@@thegoldenpasta1288 Unfortunately I did the same mistake as you as the wire went down the hole and I am unable to retrieve it with long pliers. Did the grabber method work for you using the ioniq guy grabber tool? Thanks.

Yes they are
