How do you feel about brassicas in small plots? Less than half an acre. Do you think they will get destroyed and not last through the season? We are up in upper Michigan where the deer numbers are mid range to low. The deer migrate south during hard winters
The smallest I've gotten them to hold on is 1/4 acre plot with them only planted on half of it. Peas and beans are on the other half so the brassicas go untouched until late season once they had a chance to get established.
I have a theory that they can hear the seed hit the ground so I leave the ATV run for the few minutes I'm spreading seed. So far so good since I've started doing that. I'll be seeding here again fairly soon so we'll see if that was just a coincidence or if it still holds up.
What about us ga boys planting in the clay 😂 I swear I know how to plant a great plot in every state above Tennessee but no one on TH-cam loves us ga boys
Agreed! I may do just that. I’m going to try winter rye and oats this year and see how it goes. Any idea if clover will grow in with it or too much competition?
Thanks Ken
You bet!

If the food plot seed mix has any rye grass it’s garbage, or significant inert matter.
Yup! I feel that point has beaten to death over the past few years but still very important to mention for any new comers.

Then it's time to start your own channel! Any sort of cereal grain should work in the clay and it will help to add organic matter to it over time.
