    I installed that same FactionFab pitch stop on Friday, April 28, 2023. When paired with Perrin engine mounts, an Aluminati solid transmission mount, and the Torque Solutions solid billet crossmember bushings, however, I quickly found that the in-cabin decibel levels were way too extreme for daily driving. Tonight, I swapped out the FactionFab pitch stop for a pitch stop that has 95A polyurethane bushings at both mount points rather than just at the firewall. I have some other pitch stops that have 90A and 90A bushings if 95A/95A is still too much. All I know for sure is that, with my setup, a lack of any bushing at all at the engine mount point makes for a pretty gnarly daily driving experience (In-cabin/windows up/HVAC on lowest settings or off/radio off/Cobb SS catback/GS j-pipe: 70+ dB during the 1400+ RPM warm-up idle; 80+ dB during normal acceleration; ~65 dB when warmed up and idling at ~700 RPM). In concept, I really like the design of the FactionFab pitch stop, but even reengineering it probably wouldn't allow for the use of polyurethane bushings at both mount points. FactionFab would almost have to design an engine-side bracket that has bushings housed in the mount point itself to compensate for that "bone-on-bone" ball joint design.

      Did you try adding the pitch stop brace from Perrin? When I added that it definitely reduced a lot of the in cabin noise!

      @@WRXGarage I have a 2021, so I’m not too worried about the firewall brace integrity. I could hardly hear the exhaust, intake, and transmission whine over the sound of engine screaming at my firewall. It was like I had a microphone mounted up in my engine bay sending the live audio to my speaker system. For piece of mind (and curiosity), though, I may pick up one of the brace kits at some point.

    • @WRXGarage

      Even if you're not worried about the strength of the mount on the firewall, the pitch stop brace took away the majority of that transmission whine

    I am one of the early reviewers who bought this when it came out. As I said in the review I noticed way more engine noise than I did even when I did my Invidia Q300 catback exhaust. Because it's metal on metal on the engine side it functions as a stethoscope or like a tuning fork sending the sound into the cabin. Especially on cold starts in winter.
    That said I love it and have gotten used to the louder engine noise. I remember specifically telling my wife that the sound is not a broken engine. 😂
    The shift feel is dramatically better with this and especially under load hard driving it keeps the shits easier to find and crisp. This with OEM STi short shifter, Group N transmission mount, Boomba shifter adapter plate, Torque Solutions derlin shifter bushing, and Raceseng Rondure weighted shift knob my shifting is really good now.

      My friend that was doing my clutch and timing belt said it’s like a microphone for your drivetrain to behind your dash but really helped for grip. He just did one on an auto trans one before mine and said it was way less noticeable on my manual. Kind of the difference between my solid rear motor mounts on my fiesta st and escape 2.0 titanium. Big benefits for grip and stability but a little more vibration

    The more NVH the better... makes the car feel more like a hot rod or a twin motorcycle. If you wants refinement go buy a lexus. I have diff mounts, trans mounts, pitch stop and now going for engine mounts cause I find the NVH is no big deal. At cruising speed is minimal to nothing. I love the NVH but I guess Im the exception. Biggest thing I noticed is around 2500-3000 RPM I hear what in my opinion sounds like rod knock (I know that it isn't) but it sort of almost sounds like clacking and is very throttle dependent, usually feathering throttle like 1-5% throttle I hear it clacking away like a diesel, something I noticed immediately after installing my Perrin pitch stop.

    • @WRXGarage

    • @KushestWRX
      @KushestWRX ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm researching this for my VB as well but I feel like mods like this are why people have so many transmission problems with the wrx. Without the flex of the stock mount you are putting a lot more stress on the transmission. For performance, yes it makes a difference but if you want your car to last then I'd stay away from mods like these.
      If you expect to be replacing transmissions and are really building a track car then it's probably a great mod.

    • @ReinierAlansalon
      @ReinierAlansalon ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KushestWRX I saw you installed a Perrin one. Any reason you didn't go with the Faction Fab like in this video? It looks like the firewall failure was for 2015-2017 models. I'm sure the VB has it all solidified by now, but I feel like I'd have peace of mind knowing it has the spherical bearing to remove some load from the firewall since I do some track days. Been doing a lot of research and it looks like the more solid you go for the pitch stop, the more the movement for things like acceleration gets reduced as well. Is that why you went with the Perrin? Perrin apparently uses 90a and 70a in their bushings and Faction Fab uses 95a.

      why not? if it improves shifter feel and engagement, why not? if not the solid FF pitch stop, the possibly the Perrin (w/multiple bushing hardness), group-n, or similar. this PS should be part of a multi part install like a stiffer trans mount and other driveline bushings to reduce driveline movement.

      @@K03sport : and?

  • @716Flat4
    @716Flat4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have never considered this part. I am interested in it but half wonder if these are actually a good thing mainly because rigidity isnt always a good thing and increasing rigidity could cause additional stresses on other areas. As far as noise and vibration, if it is a mild increase then that serves as driver feedback from the car. My concern is largely with warranty and the potential other stresses. For instance, if you stiffen up the engine movement, what about the rest of the driveline that was built and designed to pair with a motor that moved around more.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason why the OEM pitch stop is so soft is solely for reducing noise and vibration. Putting the stiffer FactionFab pitch stop on would not have any negative effect on other parts of the drivetrain. I would suggest pairing this with a pitch stop brace from Perrin which will strengthen the connection to the firewall

      I'll respond to that I don't know if you're being funny or serious but I was actually going to comment that that firewall needs reinforced to where there back part of the pit stop mount connects or it will eventually rip especially with a heavy duty 75d polymer bushing in it. I did mine a couple years ago I ended up breaking my factory one and ripping off part of the firewall bracket that held it together so I bought Perrins full kit came with them out the reinforcements and the slave master steall braided line and reinforcement. I'm sure there's there's plenty companies out that just make the adapters for the firewall I think I spent like 360 bucks for the full kit from perrin
