Thanks for the video! Unfortunately, this solution alone didn't solve my issue of the instrument panel not working on my 2009 c300 (w204). What solved it for me was removing the instrument cluster and unplugging it in the back while the engine was off, then putting the key in the ignition to the on position (engine not cranked), and then replugging the instrument cluster back in, and voila everything turned back on and is back to working normal.
Thank you very much brother! It helped me a lot, I was in the same situation after removing my glove box and cleaning the air conditioning evaporator. I think it was a short circuit, but disconnecting the main battery worked to fix all the lights in my instrument cluster.
But do not remove the negative cable from the battery while the car is running, do it with ignition on only!..he forgot to say that. If you disconnect the negative cable while the car is running the alternator will throw like 18 V and can damage the computer.
There is a voltage regulator on back of the alternator that will regulate the voltage, but you are 100%correct. Turn of engine, before disconnecting the battery !!!!!
I just felt that I need to give an update. Hello Guys! I had the same problem for the past two days. I tried all these methods but it didn’t work for me. I continued driving the car with the same problem. I put on the ignition so as to drive to the mechanic workshop and boom!!! My dashboard was back again😂

I have a Mercedes A170 W168 2001 disel and i have an issue with the cluster table it stops working after i drive for a while and i have to stop somewhere and disconnect the negative and reconnect it but the issue still keeps up after that. Any Permanent fix for this?
I have A class 05-12, gauge cluster (and that central display) stops working for some time, then comes back on. Always when it doesent work also sound for turning signals doesent sound... Second time, gauge cluster sudenly while I was driving came back on, but all pointers were stuck at some position for some time and ESC (yellow triangle) goes on when I speed up, so when i press gas pedal it basicly doesent allow car to have high rpm and speed up in a usual way but I need to do it smoothly. I stopped the car for a bit and shut down engine removed the key, and when i started engine again gauge cluster and everything else worked fine... now it happened third time, cluster doesent work and in the back I believe it turns on again ESC because again it wont allow me to get speed so I must be "gentle" with a gas pedal to get into higher gear... That happens only when Gauge cluster doesent work, three times in last two months. When gauge cluster comes back, everything is okay... It came to my mind to check that fuse box, maybe some contact is not okay or whatever, i dont know even if I open it what exactly I need to look...I believe its some small stupid thing that doesent cost so much, but if I go to the Service they will take 1000€ in a second, and my whole car costs about that much.
