    I interpreted the fire alarm scene as a way to show that while the Doctor likes to used elaborate plans and showy solutions this wallflower of a kid uses simple logic to solve the problem.

      "Loud noises scare animals". It was a low tech solution thought of by an average kid. It wasn't a big mystery to anyone.

    Regardless of whether or not the Fisher king could breathe underwater, getting smacked in the face by thousands of tons of water is going to kill anything dead.

    "Journey's End" also has a deleted scene where the Doctor gives the Meta-Crisis Doctor a piece of the TARDIS and Doctor-Donna gives him instructions on how to grow it faster so he and Rose can travel their universe together. Don't remember why it was cut but probably for time. It's a nice moment though so I'm glad it exists.

    I've talked to so many people about the Fisher King. His name is based on the old Arthurian legend, he was the last keeper of the Holy Grail, but he had been injured so he waits for someone to come heal him (I think it was Percival in the end). He was also known as The Wounded King This is why the Fisher King in Doctor Who is waiting for one of his people to come wake him and save him, similar to the story of being healed.

      The knight who heals the Fisher king changes between diffrent verisons of the story. As the knights get darker and edgier new "purest and most noble knight" gets added and takes over things that cna only be done by the pure of heart. I think the oldest version has either Arthur himself healing the fishing king or Lancelot, then when they took a level in flawed Gallahad got the job and then later Percival.

    The empty wheelie bin makes sense if you consider that it's not a real wheelie bin. A real wheelie bin could not have eaten Mickey. So the guy putting out his wheelie bin THINKS it's full, but that's not his real wheelie bin. It's an Auton impostor.
    Also, it's the FishER King, not the Fish King. You don't have to be a fish to go fishing for things. FishERs can drown.

    The stuff with the robot in robots of sherwood was meant to be in the final cut of the episode but there was a terrorist attack a couple of days before broadcast where someone was beheaded and the bbc insisted on the subplot being cut because of insensitivity.
    Funnily enough this wasn’t the last time a Capaldi episode was cut because of a recent sensitive incident as the scene in the pyramid at the end of the world where the monks show how the world is going to come to be destroyed wasn’t global warming but humanity destroying itself.

    WHY the hell did the Doctor just leave Manhattan when there was literally a weeping angel still standing around in the cemetery? The whole population of Earth would have been overrun by unkillable enemies within months, but for some reason that doesn't happen and the Doctor doesn't even think about it. They literally went from "we need to throw all angels in this episode into some space rift because that's the only imaginable way to get rid of them" to "there's a weeping angel standing around in one of the most densely populated cities, but who cares lol". It got even worse in that last Xmas special with Matt Smith where they were almost killed by weeping angels just because the writer wanted a short scary scene but then the doctor spends a few hundred years on that planet and nothing happens. Or the weeping angel scene in that virtual hotel prison where the writer conveniently forgot the "every image of an angel is an angel" bit he himself introduced earlier...

    This isn’t deleted scene related but it’s something no one ever mentions. In ‘Aliens of London’ the Doctor accidentally travels 12 months late meaning the rest of Series 1 takes place in 2006 and Series 2 therefore takes place in 2007. It is possible that series 3 took place in 2007 as well but that would mean that Harriet Jones was Prime Minister for barely over a year before the Master took over. Presumably the PM from Children of Earth took over quickly meaning from 2005 to 2008 there were 5 Prime Ministers: Blair (presumably), Slitheen, Harriet Jones, the Master, the Children of Earth one.

    I feel like the episode would have been all the cooler if Castrovalva *itself* had been the Master’s TARDIS. It would really have driven home the point of the Master’s creations rebelling against him.

    As an aside, the reason its called the Fisher King is a reference to the legend of King Arthur, specifically Parsival, where an old man who represents death and entropy is called the fisher king. It woudl have been neat to show that the name was given to him as an accolade or out of fear but it's there.

    One thing has bugged me since the 50th anniversary, does the Tradis backup the sonic's software? The scene where the three doctors are working out the subroutine for the wooden door, they use a line like "It's the same screwdriver, just different casings", but Ten had his broken or destroyed at least a couple of times, and 11 had his bitten in half by a sky shark. And if the TARDIS does keep a backup, shouldn't 12 or 13's work on freaking wood by now? And yes, I know 13 builds a new Sonic from scratch, but you'd think once she got back to the TARDIS she would've patched back in centuries of data it had collected.
    Also, speaking of Whittaker's run, is there any deleted scene that explains how the Master is freaking alive?

    • @stifynbaker2914
      @stifynbaker2914 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There's no need for a deleted scene to explain why the Master is alive, it was all explained fully in 'The Magician's Apprentice': "Okay, cutting to the chase, not dead, back, big surprise, never mind." Delivered in Michelle Gomez' lovely dour Scots deadpan.
      And that's a whole lot better than the classic series' explanation, which basically amounted to Tony Ainley pulling off a (paper-thin) disguise and shouting, "ta-da!"

    • @DragonsDungeon
      @DragonsDungeon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think the thing with the wood is incrediblely specific, so it would on,y work on that door.
      Also the master comes back constantly without explanation, John Sims master gets off galifray to that colony ship, then becomes Missy, but the masters Tardis shouldn’t have been able to break the time lock. In witch’s familiar Missy is surrounded by Daleks and says ai just had a very good idea. The next time we see her is on the execution planet before the vault.
      If you are desperate for an explaintion, O Master is pre Missy and likely pre Sim Master, due to his old who use of the shine device and how Missy did stand with the Doctor and they were friends again, even if the Doctor didn’t know. Regeneration doesn’t change the knowledge Missy was the Doctors friend again so even with the stupid timeless child thing, O Master wouldn’t have tried fighting the Doctor if he was after Missy.

    Regarding the garbage bin. Two situations could happen here.
    A) the man himself was an Auton and just prepared the trap for Mickey.
    B) the bins usually ARE outside (at least in my country) and the man might be doing something, requiring the bin inside, then putting it outside to it's proper place. Sure it was empty, but he could use it in his workshop to put away dust from woodworking or whatever, you don't usually see most dust, more of, if it's not in huge tremendous amounts. He might be working on his hobbies, requiring the bin, then simply returning it, where it belongs. Not really the end of the world, why a man puts an empty garbage bin outside, is it?
    The voice thing of "hey, you can actually drown him", would give away the surprise, that he deals with the FishER (not FISH, but FISHER) King this way. It was awesome, how you couldn't know until the last moment, what will happen, the constant switches between the past (Doctor in the church) and the present/future (the stasis chamber opening, supposedly with the main villain coming out of it), only to find out, the Fisher King drowned and the one coming out the stasis chamber was the Doctor. It would really kill the tension, the effect of surprise. It's honestly, what made this episode so great in my opinion. The Doctor was sure to die there and was saved at the last moment, when he tricked the Fisher King about the words in the ship, just to replace him in the chamber. Even programmed his "ghost" to tell them, that the "room opens", which should either warn them about the enemy waking up, or the Doctor coming out of it. So I'm really glad that voice never happened. The deleted conversation might be great as long as they didn't spoil the outcome right away. Hey, let's drown him, because he's most likely not that "fishy" as his name implies. If they talked just about his origin, coming from a barren world, then yea, the Doctor might conclude, that he might still be susceptible to drowning (although I think that rather than drowning, he was killed by the masses of the water bursting out of the dam).

    The Fisher King originated from Arthurian legend. The Fisher King is a wounded king, a guardian of the Grail, and due to his wounds, all he is capable of is fishing from the river near his castle. Likewise, this alien could be seen as a similar character. He was stranded, and was "fishing" for people. The whole ghost story of this two-part episode. I don't remember the specifics of these episodes, but I believe he was called that due to his similar character traits.
    For further reference, see The Fisher King in Criminal Minds, who was a wounded man playing mind games with the BAU by duplicating moments of the Arthurian legend.
    In the original legend, is is Percival who "heals" the Fisher King by asking the king a specific question, although this might be allegory of Percival setting the king's mind at ease, but Arthurian legend does involve magic, so it could be a literal healing.

It's Donna. She was indoor, the TARDIS was outdoor. In her second episode (Partners in Crime), she parked her mother's car in the street and just few moments after she left it, the Doctor landed the TARDIS nearby. She couldn't be far enough to not hear it and it was in a time, when she was actively searching for him, she knew the sound of the engines, yet it didn't force her to return/go search after the origin of the sound. So why should the mind wiped Donna recognize the sound in the End of Time then? The reason the beheading scene was cut was because about 5 days before original broadcast an old lady was beheaded somewhere in the UK

    How about a deleted scene which explains why the Sheriff of Nottingham looks so much like Anthony Ainley's Master?

      It's a good look. All discerning villains try to use it if they can.

    The 'Fisher King' is an ancient mythical figure from Wales, and closely connected to the Arthurian story cycle. Basically, he's an old, wounded Knight, who cannot walk, but gets about in a small boat, from which he fishes. He can be cured, however, by any Knight who finds the Holy Grail. It is stated that the lands from which he came, will be barren and infertile so long as he is wounded.
    The character in the Doctor Who story, was probably seen by local people (a local monster for local people?), in all the time he had been here, and they gave the monstrous figure his name - like most 'Cryptids', eg., Mothman, Bigfoot, etc.

    with the screwdrivers in the almost people, i just assumed the flesh screwdriver turned into an actual screwdriver the same way that the flesh people became normal people (hopefully makes sense)

    In mythology a Fisher King is simply the last of a bloodline who is unable to produce a new offspring.
