- Repairing a faulty cigarette lighter on a Cadillac Escalade, Yukon, Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban. Changing out a fuse. I will show you which fuse and where to find it. No tools are required. This is the same for the Cadillac ESV, EXT, GMC Yukon XL, etc.
This should be similar for all cars, but the Escalade shares a lot with a Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, Denali, and several other GM vehicles.

Dude... use a light. Video locations are so dark it's hard to see what you're referring to.
My 2007 escalade got a penny stuck inside the lighter with the engine on, that caused a melting of the wires behind the dashboard bringing a lot of smoke. The fuse got toasted.
Be careful having coins close to the lighter port it may cause a fire!
Stang 21 I keep my coins right next to it but always have a phone charger plugged in. Good to know though and glad it wasn’t worse.
Mine had a dime in (near cup holders)... kept blowing the fuse and fun fact, it prevented the OBD reader from reading my codes 😅
Wow that’s crazy. Those are the problems that want to make you bang your head against a wall...and when you figure it out you want to bang your head against a wall too lol.

My thing is,why is it blowing? Bad ground most likely?
It could be that once you have a penny fall in there then it could melt something and cause a bad ground.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I’ve been having some many problems with my Cadillac Escalade 08. I have spend $10,000 in repairs and It’s still not fixed. I believe it’s the Shops I’ve sent then too . I would tag them but I’ll wait to see it they fixes the issues.
Has the direct power to the cigarette lighter been a problem for you? I left my charger plugged in over night and it drained my battery. Is there a correct way to make the cigarette lighter turn on and off with the ignition?
Have you checked the health of your battery? Checkout this video on how to check. That’s what I would look at first. If you think that it’s draining the battery then you can try to pull the fuse for it to isolate and prove that it is the cigarette lighter that is causing the issue . There are two different fuses. The one for the cigarette lighter is where I show in this video but I think the other is in the fuse panel that I show left of the steering wheel inside the vehicle.

Sometimes if certain fuses are blown it could keep the OBDII from sending a signal.

when I want to turn on roof light manually or one of them,it won’t turn on unless if I turn the whole switch on which will turn on all inside lights and will not be comfortable during driving specially at night,also there is no light in stereo keys and steering wheels indicators such as volume up/down,cruise control keys,…etc,what seems to be the issue?
Sounds like that can also be a fuse issue but not sure which particular fuse.

Where is the fuse for the one in the rear? Like near the captain chairs
That might in one of the fuses in the fuse box behind the driver side door. If you remove the panel you will get a diagram of the fuses. It should be either fuse 2 or 16. They are labeled a Aux.

Tracy Felix a tire wearing on the inside is usually caused by the wheels being out of alignment. If a component of the suspension has taken a hit and it bent it could also cause this. What kind of car do you have?

But why do they blow fuses. Longest video ever just to change a fuse.
This receptacle is made to just handle the voltage of a cigarette lighter…the one in the armrest or in the trunk is made to handle chargers and other electronics so many times it gets overloaded. Also it’s easy for coins to fall in there and those can also trigger the fuse.

@@OmarsGarage yes original one was blown and I did changed it and I noticed penny was sticked inside the lighter and I took the penny out as well before I changed the fuse but still not working…… I have 2007 Cadillac Escalade…..please advise
Check to see if it blew again.
@@OmarsGarage I checked the fuse under the hood and it was a 10a fuse. I changed it with a 20a and it blew when I started the truck. Help!

@@OmarsGarage I just checked my 20amp fuse it's not blown but it is a different style 20amp fuse. It's not like the ones like the rest of the fuses I'm changing it out now hopefully this works
@@cammims7645 Did you ever get it to work? My fuse in my 2007 Tahoe LTZ isn't blown either but the cigarette lighters been out for like 2 years after I hooked up a tire inflator.
There’s two different fuses for the cigarette lighters. Make sure you check both.
@@OmarsGarage I've checked all of them. None of them are blown. I swapped them out with new ones out of the pack and still nothing.

I fixed the fuse but there’s still no electric power in any of my 4 cig lighter outlets
XjuanissimoX7 are you sure the item you are using to test them is working? The cigarette lighters are on two different fuses. One is located under the hood and the other on the side of the dashboard. There shouldn’t be a reason that all four would be out at the same time.

You took 10 minutes with a video that coulda taken 1 minute. 'These are all the locations of the cigarette lighters, this one doesn't work . The interior fuses are right here , the engine bay fuses are right here . Look for fuse that says ltr 20 amp and use this tool from the interior fuses lid to pull it ' boom done

@@OmarsGarage well I appreciate you showing the fuse , but you repeated yourself quite a few times. If you say a certain cigarette lighter isn't working , I'm sure most people will take your word for it , rather than you showing it
