Excellent production! This had a good script, interesting storyline, good costumes, great acting, plenty of action, and good special effects and music. Everything needed to be a terrific Star Trek. I look forward to more!
I cannot tell you how impressed I was with this production. Usually in these things the acting is sub-par, causing me occasional eyerolls and snickers. Not this time, everyone was brilliant in their character portrayal and very professional, kudos to all! Special effects were amazing, as was camera work, fight sequences, makeup, direction, editing, you name it. My only negative comment is that the design of the uniforms didn't do it for me, but that is a matter of opinion and everyone has their own preferences. Please make more!
I love this very professional Fan-film! Great job easing the transition between Enterprise and TOS Pike era. I have questions, but maybe they'll be answered in the next film. I'd like to have heard a Captain's Log or short briefing why they're using TOS phasers instead of something similar to Discovery/TOS Pike era. I'd also like a closing log (or intro to the next film) swearing everyone to secrecy that Romulans have pointed ears to be consistent with TOS.
Loved the romulans! In general really nice, you trekkies sure are a resilient bunch, making fan stuff in the spirit of the good trek despite current trek being what it is.
The Romulans were seen to be ready to make peace with the Federation in Star Trek: Nemesis so that means the only villain alien species left are the Dominion and the Borg and the Cardassians who joined forces with the Dominion. I don’t believe Odo would ever turn against the Federation even though he joined the great link.
Great show everyone, I was glued to the screen for all 20:34, including the credits. Please make more. The plot was fantastic and very believable. Good acting and special effects. Keep up the great work.
This was so much fun to watch. I will bug the crap out of you until you make a sequel. :) Well done everyone, I know how hard it is to make these things, and especially how to make them this well. Congratulations on a job very well done. :)
I must say the phaser and disruptor effects were extremely good, and I even include comparing the official shows. It feels very 'punchy' and authentic from how I imagine firing one must look and feel in the hand. The shuttles looked near show quality too and the nacelle jettison feature is a cool original idea! Now I really hope to see a ship-to-ship battle at some point. Your combat scenes here were genuinely well shot and fought; seeing that extended to a space battle would undoubtedly be impressive.
Thanks for that, those were definitely elements we took pride in and very proud of the engine jettison moment. The biggest regret though is definitely not having a space battle though.
Thas was outstanding! A very action-packed story, great stunts, very good make-up, good acting, excellent CGI and wonderful sets. Thank you very much for putting so much effort into this film. I'd like to see more from you. All the best wishes for the future. Keep on trekking! 🖖
I don't know how I managed to miss this gem until you won your Fan Film awards, but I know why you have them. This is one of the best I've seen in a while--and there are a lot of really good films being made right now. Excellent work in all categories--the writing was especially good, I thought, and I thought the editing was particularly tight in the hand-to-hand combat scenes. It's tricky to find a good rhythm in those sorts of sequences and the tendency is to leave too much space before the cuts. Really well done, and I hope there's a follow-up story coming.
You did well! . . . great effects! . . . The only criticism is => from what I recall = Vulcans and Romulans have a shared ancestry and that being the case = Romulans would have the same strength = 3xs that of a human. So the humans would have had to have a much harder time physically and rely more on wit and strategy and weapons. Still good - all things considered.
Thank you Drew and well noticed. The idea that we were trying to convey was that the Romulans were “playing” the humans as part of a larger plot and to gather intelligence. Hence the 2 lines in the last scene, “we gave them a good show” and “I need to know how he fights”, they were basically pulling their punches. However, the Romulan was able to keep getting up after numerous phaser stun hits when chasing them, indicating his triple strength.
A very enjoyable episode a good story and the ships were well done, the actors came across very well, the action scenes were well acted out and the twist at the end was good too. Well done to everyone involved and i look forward to seeing more from you all in the future.
@@ambushastartrekfanproducti3718 You are most welcome, hopefully i will be the first on your next one. Even more so if you do a sequel to this episode as it sure deserves it.
Oh, dude, this was great! A really quick, engaging story with intrigue, danger, and drama. Of course, Captain Maddox forgot that the Romulans already had a "test sample" for some days or weeks in the commander, and then in himself with the blood he left behind! Oh, that ending leave me wanting more. I really, really hope you get to film and/or release the sequel soon! Also, the acting and makeup, the fight sequences, the vfx... Incredible work. I love the idea of a crew of specialized operatives that go out and do these surgical extract/intel missions. And yay for me recognizing the voice cameo by Intrepid's Nick Cook!
Now, that was entertaining! The story moved along nicely, and love seeing the antagonists so war-like, petty, and vindictive. This shows us what the fans could have gotten with the 5th season of ENT. Kudos to the creators! ;)
Congratulations. A nice piece of fan work. For an fanfilm, excellent...!! Nice acting, nice sets, nice VFX, and nice makeup. I could put some minor inconsistencies but it would not diminish the complete effort. You all are to be congratulated. 🖖😉
Amazingly well done and well worth the wait! Incredible story and very well played out in a relatively short time, nothing felt rushed. Certainly looking forward to the possibility of a sequel!!! Fantastic work everyone 😄
Given the fine comments already provided, it's difficult to add to the stellar reviews. I will call this one of the top Star Trek fan films produced. Right in line with Axanar.
Very well done!! Bout time for seat belts.and realistic cockpit sounds..But, please remix at 11: 15 ( WAY too loud)..also why jettison both engines? only one was hit.
Thanks Andy, a very question indeed. There was some deleted lines of dialogue suggesting the “good” engine was being overheated taking on the strain. However, in the end there was some artistic license I guess. I ultimately really like the imagery of the space shuttle jettisoning both engines and wanted to emulate some of that.
Probably one of the best fan films I have ever seen. Entertaining, well made, and especially well-acted. Maybe too well acted in the case of Sylvie Nightingale … as she seemed to really be out for blood and enjoying her character. I am impressed, yet would be concerned about my safety if I were on set. 😅 😂
This was very well done. I felt the Romulans were played true to how they were seen and portrayed in TOS. I only have one minor issue with the story. Why did the Federation officers not shoot the two Romulans with phasers set to heavy stun instead of hesitating which resulted in a fight that cost one life? Perhaps the hesitation was due to the Romulans appearing to be unarmed.
This was truly excellent. It felt like, I was watching an episode of Star Trek Enterprise using Shuttle Crafts from the 1960's Star Trek TV show (way-to-go).
I must say that this is one of the finest Fan Films I have seen. That acting, plot and production is just as good, if not better, than anything done in Hollywood. BRAVO!
This was truly amazing! I loved every minute of it. It was so well done. The production design is awesome. I loved the nod to continuity with the re-worked Klingon Disruptors. The graphics were awesome, and the acting was really good. The story was super-effective. It’s indicative of amazingly good plot development that you were able to deliver so effective a piece In under 22 minutes. You made movie magic here, doubt it not. This film has two wonderful things going for it: it looked effortless on the part of the people who made it, and impossible to duplicate. You guys made an amazing film. I want to know what happens next!
@@ambushastartrekfanproducti3718 im looking into doing vfx and i am wondering if you would like me to do up some Romulan ships for an up coming episode
Very Nicely Done!!! I hope we get to see many more and a chance to get to know the characters better. I thought there was bit more of Ancient Rome in some of the characters maybe around the time of Caliguia which how I just love the Romulians to be portrayed.
Impressive and enjoyable! I do have two questions/notes, though, if I may... 1) The purple/magenta phasers; was there a specific reason for that hue of the energy? (Definitely could be wrong, but don't remember that color from Fed (hand) weapons before.) 2) USS... Ambush. Not gonna lie, that name doesn't sound very Starfleet =p
Thank you. So to answer your questions... the purple/magenta phaser beams was a bit of artistic license I admit. I wanted to design our own phaser beams and wasn’t to keen on the pale blue beams of the original series. We decided early on that the Romulans would have green beams and felt that the colour we went for was a nicer contrast. As for the Ambush name, you’re absolutely right, not very starfleet/federation. We wanted a name that was “edgy” and somewhat controversial. I looked at names of real British Navy Submarines for ideas and came across the HMS Ambush, which I really liked, so that was the namesake.
The Dave Cullen Show recommended this film to us as he thought it was extremely well done. He was right! Thank you.
Easily pleased, good for you.
my god this is so good. A cub as captain? that's interesting...
the hand to hand combat scenes were pretty good; high above the expectations from a fan film. Congrats
