I sit here stunned by what I just saw. This is perhaps the most amazing fan film I've seen to date. To say well done to everyone involved just seems inadequate because well, it is. Everything about it was simply perfect.
I know I was stunned too, had the watch the ending battle 4 times just to absorb it. You're right best fan made film ever!
@@alvermette218 I was used to starship crews finding a last nanosecond way out of situations that I thought that maybe they would do the same. The emotional impact of ramming the Klingon ship does not lessen with rewatching. Vic's closing credit music was just incredible.
@alvermette218 it was good, but Vic has 10 more Star Trek Continues episides, and at least 3 are even better than this. You should watch them.
U Said It! sir...OUTSTANDING JOB INDEED!!😎✌
No, it was gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
TOTALLY UNEXPECTED! I have to admit I sat in stunned silence for a few moments at the end. Very well done!! Here is to the crew of the Cherokee. SALUTE!
SPOILER!
I'm just sad we won't see them again. Good cast. I cared about the characters.
Now THAT was a story not done very often in the ST Universe, Avalon or any other. Well executed. Very well done. God Speed USS Cherokee.
😢 R.I.P
,.wish we could have gotten to know more.
That was a fabulously written story. Better than anything I have seen from Star Trek in years.
This was surprisingly logical. Even an inferior opponent will jump at you without alternative options.
One of the reasons why this is so so good, is the casting is superb. You got the right people for the right roles, and they played those roles well.
Just a couple of issues. I disliked the first officer from the outset when she said, "Your ship?" To the Captain. Probably a result of writers not understanding anything about military culture. That was a direct assault on the authority of the ship's captain. She should have been taken down a notch immediately.
Wow, this episode was so unexpected. I had no idea what was happening or where the episode was going. But that ending.... so somber and moving. Well done, well done. This episode was impressive and the music selection was so good. One of the best Star Trek fan episodes anywhere.
Yeah. When that "thing" happened to the captain, I felt anything could happen.
War is hell; even when it's a cold one! ... And casualties are incurred no less costly and tragically. Such is the nature of sentient conflict. Unofficially, the crew of the U.S.S. Cherokee died in the line of duty; having given their full measure, in service to the Federation. . . . This was certainly an unexpected ending to an unexpected chain of events. It was a fast-pacing episode, and certainly heartbreaking, but a ground breaking episode for the folks at Avalon and Neutral. I feel like mourning. Congratulations. 💔
I could not agree more with everything you said. Especially about feeling like mourning. What impressed me is how quickly this story got me to care about characters I'd never seen before with no hint of the fate of the Cherokee and those who serve aboard her. So when I rewatch this and I have several times already, one is very quickly struck by the tragedy to come and the feeling the ending creates does not lessen. If this had been a web series like the glorious Star Trek Continues, we could have gotten to see a very fine crew and gone on awesome adventures with them. First Officer Karinski was definitely captain material. As much as I'd love to see a web series with the Starship Cherokee, not getting to see their five year mission only makes this story all the more powerful.
@gabesantiago3074 I think you misunderstand me slightly. When I say I could not agree more, I'm saying I agree with you completely, if I had been saying that I could not agree less, then I would have been disagreeing you. We're actually on the same page.
@@patricklynch1962 - My Apologies, friend; I was reading w/ out my glasses; a bad habit of mine! We're good! 👍😉
@@gabesantiago3074 No worries! 🖖
SPOILER!
...and true to Star Trek canon, all the red-shirts died!
when the xo said “now”, it sent chills down my spine. best episode yet!!!!!
When something is well written and played out perfectly especially the special effects it just seems to go by to fast congratulations to everyone.
Yes. This looks like it cost a bundle to produce.
WOW!!!! That may be the best Star Trek I've seen in decades. I was thinking that just before the credits rolled. Then I saw Vic Mignogna was involved and saw part of why. I'd really enjoyed Star Trek Continues, and that (along with Axanar and the rest of the Avalon Universe shows) had been REAL Star Trek for me, not the corporate stuff of the last 15 years or so.
Wow though. That was visually beautiful, acted superbly, and riveting and heartbreaking. The final information about the Cherokee and it's part in the failed peace mission were, to use a phrase that is entirely appropriate, "Fascinating".
THANK YOU for keeping the true Spirit of Star Trek alive!!!!!
I never usually comment on non canon Star Trek - but this was a story idea worthy of the original series. Great job
Just Wow. That was amazing. It's fan films such as these, so well acted and produced, that deserve to be in canon Trek. It's so good that it would have been fitting to be shown in Star Trek: Short Treks, like how it should have actually been done to expand the Trek universe. I don't know how you are able to screw up an anthology series, but these types of films, done by FANS, are miles better than what we gotten from that.
Vic coming back is a VERY welcome thing to see! VERY well done!
Fabulous! What a poignant ending! Love the fact that I didn't even notice that Vic played Ja'Drok til the credits. What a wimpy voice, almost Ferengi-like. He had to work really hard to go unnoticed like that, and such humility to play the lowest of the low.
Wow. That hit hard. Real Trek made by people who love Trek and know how to tell a story. Well done!
Vig Mignola is enjoying himself as a Klingon lol great stuff
An excellent and moving example of the darker side of Startrek, where heroism and devotion to duty do not guarantee personal survival,or even a record of such sacrifice. A very real reminder that many such sacrifices have been made in our world. They deserve the highest Honour.
Wow, best Fan Film I have seen since Star Trek Continues ended, great job Vic and crew! You made me care about a crew I never knew existed 20 minutes ago and brought a tear to my eye.
A noble sacrifice. The essense of good drama and good Trek. Thank you!
This is the best fan story I’ve ever seen. I was riveted the entire time. Sometimes the only decisions are hard ones and there is no happy ending.
I love those insignia patches! And oh, what a complicated mystery the crew of the Cherokee had to solve -- and whoa, that ending! To completely write off an entire starship?! I'm glad the crew got recognized, but damn! That is some serious business to erase a ship from history.
NICE RIGHT...😎✌
Erased, but the only chance to avoid war and reveal the truth. Debris will be found.
I love this fan film! The acting was superb, and even the banter was pulled off naturally and didn't feel awkward like it can do with some fan films. The actors and production crew are amazing, this could have been filmed as a parallel series to TOS, it's that good!
SPOILER: I was starting to really like the characters and now you've killed them off. Do I laugh or cry? Please bring them back. ST rarely has a sad ending, so that was a most unexpected twist. There's a lot to take in as the story telling, sets, CGI, costumes, acting, etc, is so polished, then the bombshell at the end! Wow! Congratulations Avalon Universe, this was an incredible production. (I'm cautious about saying it was a truly professional production in case CBS raise their eyebrows!)
prequels!!!
Thank you. It was AWSUM to watch this while we were in production
Really well done. I expected their bacon saved, but instead it got fried. That was crazy cool. May they all rest in peace.
This is a very good tale. It is just a reminder space can be dangerous and filled with alien enemies fighting for their own protection and resources for their way of life.
Well done Avalon! The spirit of Star Trek lives on with you and all involved. ❤🖖
From start to finish...INTRIGUING....WELL PACED....MAGNIFICENT!
Applause!!!
Great acting and great story! But the epilogue got me to thinking about something Picard said. Picard said "The first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth, whether it's scientific truth or historical truth or personal truth! It is the guiding principle on which Starfleet is based. And if you can't find it within yourself to stand up and tell the truth about what happened, you don't deserve to wear that uniform!". The coverup of the ultimate sacrifice of the USS Cherokee goes against the "truth"! Star Fleet said it was to prevent a war, but was it really to cover up the "embarrassment" of Star Fleet being tricked by the Romulans? OK, enough "theory crafting"! Well done everyone!!!
Ah, I remember Picard saying that and in others moments telling the hard truth. My own comment touched on the same issue though from the "It is harder to lie then tell the truth" approach. No lie is perfect and can be felt so it is eventually uncovered. Then, by that time the damage can be even worse.
This was a good film and I hope they do more.
An interesting conundrum. What is more important? The truth, or preventing a war?
Is lying about the fate of 430 Starfleet officers and crewmen, worse than a war that would kill millions?
To the those involved in this production I want you to know that this was so well executed I wish that this was an actual series.
All of you should take pride in what you have accomplished and I’m sure that there are those out here who are standing and saluting your efforts like I am.
Take your time and I look forward to the next one!

Thank you, Joe! We are very proud of our story!
@@skipmorrisAs mentioned by another commenter already, it would be glorious if y'all could create some prequel stories for the USS Cherokee and this cast. 🙏
That was really, really good. Some of the better acting in a Trek fan film, good special effects, and characters acting with understandable motivations.
Damn! This was such a Brilliant & Sad story! Well done to everyone involved in the production,R.i.P to the crew of the USS Cherokee,"We barely Got to Know,Her"
That was a breathtaking episode in the best tradition of Star Trek TOS. Bravo!
Amazing , and good to see Vic back in the trek universe. To the stars we go
One of the best episodes yet!
AGREED.
Excellent! Great writing, acting, SFX, editing, costuming... Great job all around. Not that other films from the Avalon universe were bad, but this one really took me aback with the quality.
I've usually got some nitpick or other no matter how much I like something, but damn - nothing on this one.
The story was brilliant. The acting was great, the effects were first-rate. I didn't see that ending coming That's for sure.
Everyone involved should take a well-deserved bow!
"From Hell's heart....I stab at thee". Excellent. Thank you for this, well written, well directed, good story. I look forward to Infinite Excallibers on Halloween.
Brilliant! THE best fan film I’ve seen.
Two points:
1) (My personal bugbear.) When will someone rewatch the actual TOS battles and get shields right? Percentages didn’t come in until TNG. Battles in TOS were distinguished by Spock calling different numbered shields and describing them as “damaged”, “buckling” etc. To my mind it made the battles more exciting.
2) The characters were basically cookie cutter but they were so well written and acted compared to most fan films that I would happily have watched some more stories with them in. In 23 minutes you made me care about these people only to snatch them away with that gut-wrenching ending. I was already stricken by the death of the Captain.
Wow! What a sad but powerful tale about war and it's consequences.
RIP USS Cherokee. You were Heroes.
INDEED!! & WELL DONE!!
Absolutely SUPERB! Even with that brief segment around the 15 minute mark, I never saw that ending coming. Very well done; well written and well acted. This is a tale I will remember. 2 thumbs up; if I had more thumbs I'd up them.👍👍👍
Excellent! Seemingly obvious plot that weaves a more intricate subplot seamlessly into the dialogue. Plus it waw fun to see Vic Mignogna as the Klingon officer. Well done!
No over the top acting and no bad cgi pretty good🎉.
Wow, just Wow! This was really really good. I had a feeling that Vic had a hand in it. Hes just so good at Star Trek
A quick death for the most prepared 1st officer in Star Fleet history.😢
Wow, this was amazing,; I was blown away! Not every good story has a happy ending. Great job to everyone on an excellent production!!!
Wow that was truly epic. So well done on every level, thanks to all involved. It would be a shame to let such great characters and cast go to waste, what better way to honor Cherokee and her crew than to feature more stories of their exploits leading up to this point? Again, thank you for such an incredible story! 👍👍🖖🖖
This was freakin awesome!
Wonderful story, really great acting, camera work, special effects, tension, pacing and and and. Wow, that was the best trek I saw in a long time. Wow, wow, WOW!!!
Thank you so much!
So well done. Every character is appealing. I would want much more from this crew.....hard to lose them.
I want more of the crew of the USS Cherokee also. They can do episodes before this incident.
@@user-be7tc2bd6e Yes, prequels please 🙏
damn. that one hurts. i cared more for that crew and ship after 20 minutes, than anything since star trek continues.
shout out to vic mignogna btw.
and that little moment when commander karinskis concern almost broke through to captain clovis was a nice touch. masterfully done one and all.
One of the best, if not the very best, fan film ever made.
Great job !!!!! Vic returns fan film story and casting back to the quality of Star Trek continues what a dark story great surprise and Vic plays Klingon first officer !!!! Kudos
Speechless. This is what Star Trek should be about. Incredible job everyone. Maybe Paramount can learn from your example. TOS was the best of us, even more so than TNG.
In other words, CBS/Paramount should take notes. This one reminds me of when TOS aired on NBC.
This was GREAT! One of the best fan films of all times! I can't thank you enough for this.
❤ You guys did an excellent job.
The story line was very well. Thought out and the special effects !!! and the acting was excellent.
You guys should be very proud of yourselves.
Simply perfect! A well written story! Goods stories don't need high costs! I hope you bring more little gems like this one! Congrats to everyone there!
great episode, everything was so very well done. even on Star Trek not every day can end with a happy one.
That was fantastic! Most original story I've seen in a long time. Thank you and great job.
Very nice! Powerful ending, as others have said. And good job keeping the viewers in suspense till everything was revealed. Good job by the cast and crew. Good directing, too.
It's hard to do, because I've lived for over 60 years. But I have to say, I'm impressed with this short film. Congratulations on the imagination, and a great story.
The post production and acting was first rate. I felt like I was just watching another episode of TOS or STC. Vic you are a magnificent director and got the best out of everyone!
More please. Well done.
A top-notch episode!! The ending was a surprise. Congratulations on excellent production!! LLAP
That was clearly the BEST fan film made. I’ll be giving to neutral zone patreon now!
An excellent story! And sometimes, even if Captain Kirk of the Enterprise might disagree, there may come to pass a Kobayashi Maru scenario, where there is no possibility of survival.
Very well done indeed! Interesting story and some very impressive acting!!! Thanks to all for a super effort!!!
Another awesome production. Many thanks everyone!!!
This was an AMAZING episode!! Kudos to cast, crew, and all involved in bringing this story to life!
How many soldiers, sailors, and pilots have suffered this same fate?
I sit in tears. No words. God rest the souls of those aboard.
What great uniforms and an attractive cast!
Star Trek: The Geriatric Botox Generation.
Everything looks great except the cast who are far too old
WOW...Great story. This one is worthy of Star Trek. Great Job for all cast and special effects people.
OMG...I actually Shed tears....RIP to the Crew of the USS Cherokee!!!
Wow!! This is on par with the big budget Star Trek in Hollywood. GREAT job on everything.
That was *_well_* worth the wait, and an ending you don't see coming.
Whoa! I cannot believe what I just saw. Finally a storyline about real loss and sacrifice in the early ages of Star Fleet. The only thing I can compare this to is really the initial loss of Spock in TWOK. And hats off to the choice of scoring this as well. I believe this was an homage to Ron Jones era. Correct me if I am wrong.
I'm still stunned from this episode. Its one of those stories that should go into Cannon. The events that brought everything to the brink of war and are snded in an instant. Very well done!
I have no words for how well done this film is. I'd love to see a sequel where this crew could be saved through time travel intervention
OMG! What a sad movie! Very well done!
That ..... was .... AWESOME!!!
Near the end I was starting to think this was maybe a training exercise for that woman to be a bridge officer or maybe even a first officer. Similar to what Troi had to do to become a bridge officer. Could she make the decision that need to made even in he face of certain death.
You guys at Avalon are still full of surprises.
I love the non-trefoil insignia. Sigh, I miss those.
One of the best fan produced Star Treks I've ever seen.
Brilliantly done, loved the story and the characters top marks
Star Trek LIVES with the effort of all who made this possible!! Many Thanks and Blessing too you
The Avalon Universe is growing, and the fans are loving it.
Well done this was amazing and not something often seen in the Star Trek Universe. The ending text gave a very creepy vibe keep up the great work.
Excellent story, cast, effects, and execution!
Im glad to see Viv is still keeping his fingers in the Trek pie, an amazing talent great job directing this. I loved STC and felt a loss when it committed suicide I wish it could have lived a long life. the sets and costumes were excellent the acting top notch. my only complaint was its brevity. congratulations.
Great work. The direction was excellent and the acting superb. Vic, you did great.
Tragic yet amazing. Thank-you!!
OK wow fantastic job everyone!! It's very comforting to know I can still find great Trek the story continues
QAPLA!!
This production is insane.🖖🏽
One of the happiest 22 minutes of STAR TREK ever! Thank you!
Wow. That was dark and amazing! I'm sorry that I'll not see this crew again; I was really beginning to like them! Well done all involved!
I'm sure they'll be used in other stories.
YEP! Even after all the crap he's been put through, Vic's still flexing that brilliant fan film magic!! Awesome film!!
I am in awe. This was a powerful show. Kept me hanging the hole show. Congratulations to the actors and production crew.
The spunky young helmsman -- I mean helmswoman -- was great! She stood up for herself, and did it respectfully. Decorum, which is often lacking in nuTrek, was a hallmark of classic Star Trek.
Great episode. I loved it.
Wow! Great little fan film! Felt like it was shot back in the day! Great use of sets and great lighting! Love the tracking shots also! VERY cool stuff! Effects rock my world! Shout out to Ray and company! Keep them coming!
These sets are amazing!
Geez... that was something else. I sat here at the end, just watching my screen in disbelief. This is EXTREMELY well done. My congratulations and sincere appreciation to all involved.
Paramount needs to hire Vic to direct some short treks and his own series. This is amazing.
Well done. Ramming the enemy was an heroic way to end the battle.
A good story, mature dialogue, and better acting than one expects from fan fiction. Really superior.
That was really good, really enjoyed watching that. the quality of the sets / acting was brilliant
