This is great! I have used Behr for years. Their paint has improved so much. I painted my house with the Behr Premium Plus in 2006 and it still looks great! I do have to do touch ups every now and then in areas that have Southern exposure or at the baseline that gets exposure to snow in the Winter, but otherwise it is holding up well. We are looking at re-painting down the road as I am getting tired of looking at the same color. But here we are 16 years and going strong! We live in Washington state in Spokane so we get all different weather extremes, cold-snow, wind, rain, extreme heat(will be 98 today) so we are a good area to test durability. I also love the Behr Ultra flat for interiors. We have an older 1965 ranch style home(Mid-Century)home with attached 2 car garage. And the interior walls have that beautiful smooth finish. The Berh Ultra goes on like butter and has a very velvety smooth texture. It really makes the color you chose shine. So many designers have this thing that they just use Benjamin Moore or one of the other really expensive paints, but they really are missing the boat on this. I guess if they have the extra money to throw around fine. The more expensive paints are nice. I would just rather have the extra money. And being an artist I can appreciate how well Behr's paints go on the wall and the coverage is great! And Home Depot is great to work with. They will even do paint matching and so on. So I am happy with Behr. Very scrubbable too... and the interior paint holds up well... 😉

Great rundown, and exactly how I have been feeling about Sherwin Williams and their on again off-again sales and pricing as I shop for my house.

I had my home painted with Sherwin-Williams duration paint by professional painters in 2008. The contractors also replaced all the siding and installed Hardie board cement siding. That was 14 years ago in my home still looks like it was just painted. It was certainly more expensive but it is holding up incredibly well.

Yay! I LOVE this video. I couldn't find Peel Bond brand so after scraping I applied Zinsser Peel Stop and then I applied Behr's most affordable paint/primer for 1st coat. For top coat I think I'll buy the Behr middle line you recommended. -from a first time diy-er painting house exterior on my own. It's fun, exhausting, and satisfying to do a big project.

Dude... I love this video. To start with you didn't go all the way back to Cain and Abel in the Bible and then come back forward. No twenty minutes of the reasons why you made the video and how you and your brothers cousin had a wrestling match over a paint job. You start and finish with the subject at hand. I learned more about paint in five minutes with your video than I have with all the others I've watched combined. You did great so a big thumbs up and a subscribe from me. Thank you!!!

Great video I am looking at painting at the end of the month aluminum siding. The original paint is peeling in areas I am going to power wash and paint with Behr. I am hoping not to prime but get the paint/primer.

I was a pro painter we used sherwin a peel stop I think it was new back then.. I always thought they just mixed Elmer’s glue into the paint and charged you double!!!
I’d like to do an experiment and try this myself.
I’m about to paint a house now and I will try one area!!! We’ll see I’ll get kilz3 add some glue maybe 20% glue

I have a newly built home (just finished being built two months ago in Jan 2023). My exterior is cement fiber board. I'm going from a medium toned paint to a dark paint color. What would you recommend for a primer? Obviously I will get the primer tinted. Can I go the less expensive route because it's a new build?

Im completely removeing the lead paint from a 100 year old wood sided house and sanding afterwards. A lot of the sideing is old long leaf yellow pine some boards have alot of pitch and sap. Ive herd slow drying oil base stain blocking primer is best wood you think that or go another way

I have been selling Behr paint for the last 18 years after 4 decades as a painting contractor. My feeling is that Behr Ultra is the biggest bang for the buck. It is a really good paint at a moderate price.
Sherwin Williams is grossly over priced . Even after theri $0% discount, they are down to Behr's everyday low prices. If you are a contractor, you can get up to a 20% discount off the Behr price.
The Behr paints constantly get top ratings for Consumer Reports and constantly out rank Sherwin Williams.
My best testimony for Behr paints is that I have used it exclusively on my house for the last 18 years.

  • @mykolashatkovskyi576

COMPLETELY corelates with my personal opinion, except I evaluate the "set of qualities" of Behr even slightly higher - better color and sample chosing mechanics at HomeDepot.
And I've tried for the moment - Sico, Valspar, Benjamin Moore, Behr Ultra, Behr Marquee.
Behr Ultra is my goto. Maybe, Behr Premium Plus cause it doesn't have odor and to get each 4th gallon "for free" (did not decide yet).
Behr Marquee Exterior CAUSE I bought it in Liquidation store and outside it won't stink on me.

Never use exterior paints in the winter no matter what they are”rated” I’m not a painter I actually produce paints. Im the very beginning of the process. I mix the raw materials to make paint. I can tell you all exterior paints should be applied at 50 degrees and given 72 hours to cure in temperatures no lower than 32 degrees. Some raw materials that paint is made with that we receive on a truck have come to us frozen because they were not put on a heated truck. This doesn’t happen often because most carriers take this seriously but it does happen. Once those raw materials freeze they are no longer good even if thawed out again. Latex is a no no In the winter outside and so is oil based because if it is too cold to cure the oil will rise to the top of what you have painted and it will leave what looks like tobacco tar streaks on your work. You can paint inside in the winter but most people don’t because they want to have the windows open when paint inside. Bottom line……Don’t paint in the winter period! It’s a spring, summer and early fall project.

What would be your best choice if I’ll be using Peel Stop Triple Thick primer?. I was leaning towards Behr Ultra, but since it’s a paint/primer I don’t know if it makes sense now.
