The perfectionism with which you maintain your cars is amazing. If all car owners were nearly as responsible, they would have much less reliability problems. And yes, I'd love to see more videos on the 1 series. Of all your cars, this one is my favorite. Because it's sporty and powered by a naturally aspirated inline-6 engine, unfortunately the last one BMW produced apart from the N53.
Great video buddy. Will be following your crank case breather change on my N57 this week - I thinks the pipe is releasing a fume that’s blowing through my vents…. Fingers crossed!
Just wanted to say thanks! Your video gave me the confidence to change the oil myself and the filters. I didn’t need to go to bmw in the end which wanted £360!
@@thedetailingdoctor5746 Yeah, espacially with the recommended oil by BMW : MTF-LT3. The previous owner did the oil change with 75w80, 10 thousand km ago, and the gearbox was lound at idle and shifting was a pain in the ass. My 130i has 85.000 km, and hopefully the gearbox smoothness will last.
Hey, were you a car mechanic? How did you learn to maintain your car on your own? It's really nice that you can do it by yourself rather than getting ripped of by a shop.
I have a 530i with the N52 engine and the oil won't be shown until engine running for a few minutes and of course the car must be level and not ramps. When I did mine I just put around 5lts in and then started it to let it circulate so could start to get a reading. When indicated full after around a 20idle I drove it to work and the warning light came on for low level and needed another 6ltr which was finally the 6.5lts. Never dropped since.
The car will only tell you to add one litre when the level has dropped by at least one litre. From the 6.5 litre maximum. So if you do an oil change and start with 6 litres. The car will not say add 0.5 litres. You can put 5 litres in first just to test the oil level sensor. But be sure to add the remaining 1.5 litres after the test.
Hey, sorry for this question but at say 12:50 what is that part, sort of thin but about sort of 2 or 3 foot long. Above the engine, with hoses going into it. Thanks?
Could you give me your opinion about this car in general, since I have been offered a 2008 with 150,000 km automatic, since it is almost impossible to find a manual one that is not ruined or extremely modified in my region, I would like to know what aspects to check more carefully at the time to check it out for purchase. It's a 128i coupe version.
evening champ, remember your old E60, when adjusting the handbrake, do you need to depress a spring which is located underneath the actual handbrake INSIDE the car ? also i don`t know if you`ll know the answer to this 1 , but does the E60 have a feature , on the manual g/box version where if you press the FOOTBRAKE on a hill, it holds the car in place BEFORE you have to activate the h/ brake, many thanks champ !

hi, thank you for the video and help. For a 100k miles 2007 118d , what would be your maintenance checklist? 1 year i am driving the car, old owner said they changed the oil and stuff but dont know. battery has %50, i didnt use the car for 10 days and couldnt start it. I will take it to the service but to know for this model what should be checked, tia
You need to drain the oil and refill 5 times to get all the old oil out. And run the engine up to temp each time. Otherwise there might still be some old oil in there 😝
does your car clear the ramp easily to get on it im guessing it does thinking of buying one to change my oil i have an e91 m sport on eibach lowering sorings
Bro, I am having an issue with my 118d that I do not know how to solve. The car is pulling to the right. It happened after I had a flat tire in the back. I swapped the 2 back tires, brand new. I already put it to align the car it is all straightened front and back and problem is still there
Spark plugs were not inspected, regapped or changed if necessary. Fuel filter wasnt changed and as for the rhino rip off ramps you can make them out of wood (plenty of how to’s on tubes). 6/10 for the service from me

The car has been flawless! But I’ve been chasing a coolant leak for best part of two years! The cars are haaaard work - I finally admit it! Best 👍🏼
