This screen is a must have modification on any BMW of this generation as it modernises the interior whilst still looking in fitting with traditional styling. it is also available for different dash types so if you don't have a storage bin on yours you can still have one on any BMW 1 series 3 series or 5 series.

Hey bro, mine has the old screen with no bluethooth but it opens and closes does that o e opens and closes too? Or i can fit in the compartment of my old one and use also the bmw car computer button?

Ive got a 116i e87 and a 320i F30 (Predominantly use the F30) but I have wanted to add a screen on the e87 for quiet some time. Glad you did this video. It actually looks awesome

That repeating noise with the exclamation mark on your cluster happens when you have your driver side door open with the ignition on and usually if you turn on ignition before closing your door, when you close the door the ignition will turn off and you'll have to turn on again. Easy solution is to close drivers door before turning on ignition and you'll have no gong noise.
I thought that unit need the control unit of the models that came with the smaller screen.. really helpful think il be doing my 2012 1 series
I installed on my X3 E83, and really doesnt need the radio anymore, actually the display of the radio works, but the rest is pretty much disabled, so if I was you would just replace the little knob on it.

I’ve fitted similar to my other half’s 125i. It’s OK, in some ways I prefer it to a double din install because it’s higher up the dash but they are quite big. The double sun is less reversible too because you need to cut away some of the dash.

Don't want to be a fun sponge.... but.... might be an issue when it comes to the MOT infringing the sweep area. Doesn't the screen generate its own WiFi and that what you connect to?
I wonder that did you cut the console, in order to fit it in. I got this but I can’t fit it without console cutting.
Would this work with the oem i drive controller from the nav option cars? Or does it have to use its own idrive.

Great video! The iPhone needs to connect to the screen WiFi network to be able to send/receive data, it's the same in the newer BMWs also!
Does the android unit play sound through aux of the head unit? Or do you know if it can done? the head unit usually act like an amplifier because there are two subwoofers under the seat
There is a guy selling one of these that i am very intrested in but it was bought for a modell with the original cic display and my e82 only has the storage box there. Was just wondering if u knew if it would fit and Connect to my modell?
I did something very similar to my 2014 audi a4 had a very small 6inch screen with nothing on it replaced with a 10.5inch android screen suits so much better I actually think the android software is the same tbh, just like that one suits yours better too

My default iDrive selector knob (joystick) is not working, prices for a new one are crazy. Does this screen replacement solve the issue since it seems it completely overrides idrive?

I have a question haha, ive just installed the headunit and im wondering how i can get the audio to go through the car speakers? I only have the aux connected and i dont have a usb idk how that works. Thanksss
Hey man, Very cool and daring vid (without instruction manual). Since i opted for wireless bluetooth connect (to play music via my phone) I had to use the AUX as well behind the handbrake. I pried it open (mine has an AUX and a sigarette lighter) and used an AUX splitter to connect it neatly under the middle console. Might give you some idea's. Oh and you're spot on about that damn plug on the middle airvent.
I have this screen installed, but when I insert my key and not turn on my car yet, radio gets power and so does the screen. Which means it drains my battery. How do I fix this so that I can insert my key, not start the car and make the screen stay off until I put my car on contact/start it. BMW e81! Thanks!
I’m sitting here wanting that awesome pocket on the dash for my E82. Loved my single hump 335i. But I wouldn’t mind an updated screen for mine, I just want it to look OEM.
They do them for ones without the dash bin if you havent got it. You just need to cut the dash which i think sounds scarier than it is!
@@Chris_Slix yeah that is the one big deterring factor. I have seen a few people screw up their cuts. I flirt with the idea of trading it in for an M4 every week.
Just get the one that takes out the radio looks way better

I’m pretty sure there is something you need to connect in order for the CarPlay to work, I just can’t remember which one of the 50 things it was
When testing mine my radio has a red light and the speakers making like a static pop sound intermittently anybody have an idea on a fix

You can do away with aux lead very easily no need to run cable

which app did you use for wireless Carplay
the menu on the apple play is the wrong side , Go the settings on the unit then reversing camera then click right hand drive , restart and it will move over on the apple play . no idea why
Just installed mine, this thing is awesome. I had original Bussned CD, and this thing made my audio quality much better
The original business cd that doesnt have bluetooth? Can you play with bluetooth now?

Awesome vid! Don't think I'll be getting this as I do have a built in computer thingy atm, even though its super outdated, I don't wanna cut my dash for apple car play😅. Phone holder will have to do it for me

They could have made a bracket to fit it where the radio is and throw the radio away. Like the Mercedes cars have the screen sticking out of the dash.
I've got the storage bin in my 118i. It's a stretch to use so can only imagine it being an irritation to touch that screen.
Why cant you get a right-hand drive center counsel dial/selector?
not really to be honest I tend to just press play on my phone and set off I don't really touch it after that.

Got a question for ya!, I recently installed a 10.25inch in my bmw 1 series, just working how do you connect a sub it it Possible? The cables I look like I need I don't have anyway of buying them aftermarket, Or is it not possible at all cheers!
Im no audio technician but i have fitted a sub to a standard stereo before and you can splice into one of the speaker cables to use for the sub. Everything is doable although it may not be 100% the best option it does work.
does it connect and play well with the car speakers? when I play music with my aux it doesn't sound too well when I play music loudly
Yeah its fine 😊 maybe check your audio settings on your radio? There is some individual settings for the aux in on there

Hey bro, this is a long shot, but i bought a car with that roadtop carplay and for some reason my firmware got corrupted when my car was at the shop, is there any possibility you could send me the firmware from your screen? The store seem to simply ignore me. Im kinda desperate at the moment haha

Where did you get the screen from bud, i recently installed one of these screens for my 16 1 series and its working great, weird how you are having temperamental problems with it
I got something similar for my audi a4 from ebay I got mine for £500
Pretty sure you'd be find getting the idrive controller, I've got a RHD too with the CCC idrive system and they fit from factory. The obly thing is you'll loose that 2nd cupholder!
It only works with the aftermarket one that you can buy with the screen which only comes in lhd trim ☹️

Hi Chris, does the unit work with your steering wheel controls? For example can you change songs and turn volume up and down from the wheel like you can normally?
Volume works yes. Essentially it steering wheel still operates your original radio. This is essentially used as a aux in device.

You get used to it pretty quickly its not too big in my opinion
Mate the reason your wifi keeps turning off on the head unit is its trying to connect to your CarPlay. And CarPlay generally uses Bluetooth first and then finalised the connection over wifi to the head unit. So if you just want your head-unit to use as standalone android system then just turn off Apple CarPlay on the phone. And use it to Hotspot the the android system 🤞🏽

hi i have a question since i have the same problem. So in order to make the carplay run well, the phone must be connected to the hotspot of the headunit or the head unit must be connected to the hotspot of your phone?
Not the hotspot on your phone no, the screen has a wifi you connect your phone to at the same time as the bluetooth then it works flawlessly!

Double din radio with Apple car play would be a better option I reckon. That thing would obstruct too much of my view … good video though dude ✌🏼✌🏼

@@Chris_Slix Find someone with a 3D printer. Seen plenty of people 3D print an adapter so it fits nicely with the center console storage bin for rhd cars
To send data fast enough without a cable it needs to use a WiFi connection, Bluetooth isn't fast enough on android auto or carplay 👍
I think the beeping when you first turn the screen on is the screen connecting to the car and detecting the doors are open. I think you can turn it off in the settings

Those things look super ugly and there is no real reason to have a small storage bin there.
