Just did it on my 120i thanks to your video! I did it with Motul Gear 300 75w90 which also has the tip to feel easily. I managed to remove about 0.75L with the seringue.
Great video thanks so much. Just bought myself a e81 2007 130i and love it. Is this the kind of job a very novice mechanic could carry out? Also, are you planning to do any brake disc / pad replacement videos. Liked and subscribed, loving the content, keep it coming 🙂👍🏼
Nice one Kenneth, they are great wee cars aye! Yes this is certainly a very straight forwards job for a novice, of course be sure that the car is well secure before getting underneath! I have heaps of videos in the pipeline for the 130i, will look at the brakes eventually. Thanks for watching and the sub! 👍
Hello. I was wondering if you had thoughts regarding just simply removing the rear diff cover to not only drain the old fluid better but to install a replacement gasket since it seems to be very easy to remove?
Is leveling the car needed because your driveway isn't level or do I need to lift the rear up even if it is on level ground? Thanks, very clean and useful video!
@@MTechGuy thanks for that! Looks like another easy diy for me soon :) do you have anymore suggestions with the transmission oil change while im down there? probably the guibo check i guess
@@MTechGuy thank you very much. I am glad you have started on the e87 as I am just getting one in Sydney. Local delivery from a one owner. Lots of kms on the odometer but well looked after. Keep up the good work I have subscribed.
Hi, i made a mistake when i changed my Diff oil. I have a BMW 120i and i put 75W-140 and now it makes a rattle sound when i drive. It is posibile if I change the oil again with the corect one to solve the rattle ? Or I need to open it and change the bearings ?
I would start by draining and refill it with the correct oil, then after a few miles drain and refill it again, that way it will be well flushed out, then go from there
We're you getting a metal on metal sound from the diff before you changed the oil..i have an e87 ang getting a natal rubbing sound from the diff...do you think the diff might be gone ?
Are you sure it’s the diff making that noise? I would get it inspected to confirm. if it is the diff, start by draining the oil and check it for metal wear particles
@@MTechGuy thank you too. I like the "cut" of this video. Clean, well explained and straight to the point. Just got my differential oil changed. That long life thing was like tar.
The oil level is also level with the vehicle and it is higher at the rear, therefore it is higher than that required by the vehicle, it is logical, because making videos are misleading.
Hi please, This is good but not “everybody” wants to see fluid flushes. Most people know how to do this and most garages do this for cheap. Can you please do some coding & Programming videos and some retrofits. You have a lot of BMWS which are missing alot of items, so can you make retrofit videos ? You said in a previous video your BMW qualified and your expert ! But I haven’t seen you do anything that many others haven’t done. Thanks Emmanuel
Not "everybody" is confident enough to do this type of job. By watching, and then maybe doing, those people may feel happy to tackle other jobs as well. Just because most people know, maybe they don't, doesn't mean it shouldn't be shown.
Hello i got question i got weird noise i think it is the differential but the noise is there only when gear is in when its neutral then there is no noise also when i press gas the noise go away any advice ? It is 118d
completed this the other day. thanks for the great video
Nice one, glad you found the video useful. Thanks for watching!

Awesome, yes it does help when the bottle has a spout!
0.75L removal not bad, shame they don’t have a drain plug
“Seringue” is crazy
@@jjturner7463 ?
I just made it with your video super easy job thanks. I get only 700 ml and filled around 1000-1100 ml.
As long as the vehicle is level, and the fluid level is correct at the fill hole, it’s all good
Awesome work, thanks mate! How many kilometres or years would you recommend between changes?
60,000 Km’s or 4 years
Excellent! Thanks heaps.

I wouldn’t bother, it’s heaps more work, way messier and I think there is no gasket on these, just RTV. The suction pumps are cheap
your oil looks clean. how often do you refresh it?
The last time I changed it was about 5 years ago
Thank you so much, it will be helpful to change oil of my E82 120i coupé! 👍
👍
Hi, why the fill plug needs to be replaced?
They come complete with the sealing O-ring
Hi mate, another great video. I have a 1.8i 1Series e88 convertible, would i need 1litre too or more? thanks 👍🏼
Should take around 1.1 litres
Is leveling the car needed because your driveway isn't level or do I need to lift the rear up even if it is on level ground?
Thanks, very clean and useful video!
Car needs to be level, and off the ground for access
Hey man, do you know what type of transmission oil should I use for my 130i its Auto
Valvoline MaxLife ATF
@@MTechGuy thanks for that! Looks like another easy diy for me soon :) do you have anymore suggestions with the transmission oil change while im down there? probably the guibo check i guess
@@cyberairwolf While under there yeah it’d be worth inspecting the guibo, and driveshaft centre support bearing
🎉🎉🎉 Nice video . Thanks .😊
Hi mate just wants to know do you know if all these 130i have the same differential or were they an option?
Yes all the 130i’s came with the same differential, although manuals came with 3:46 ratio, automatic 3:64. None of them came with an LSD from factory

Hi! How many litres needed ??
Thanks!
1 litre (the diff takes approx. 0.8 of a litre)
If the front of the car was not lifted on the same level, then you may fill too much oil in the diff.
Hi are you able to help me to get which transmission oil for a 2007 automotive BMW 116i ??
If it has a manual gearbox, same as I’m using in this video- 75W80 GL-4 fully synthetic
is it the same with 118d? 2005
Yeah, same
We're you getting a metal on metal sound from the diff before you changed the oil..i have an e87 ang getting a natal rubbing sound from the diff...do you think the diff might be gone ?
The differential shouldn’t be making that type of noise on an E87
@sylvesterpillay825 , how'd you get your diff sorted?
Nice viseo, cheers pal :-)
Thanks for watching!
hello, can i ask why havent you chose the Syntrax Long Life 75w90 ( API GL-5) ?
It’s the same product, this is how it’s labelled in New Zealand
Is there any point me doing this if my diff is grinding slightly ?
Depends what the noise is like, but I would start with a fluid change and go from there
My diff is making a sound like breaks that are metal to metal
damn

is that part number bmw internal number?
Specific BMW part number, use it at the dealer when purchasing, or search for it online
the oil was in good condition, there was no need to change it, BY COLOR.
you should drive the car a bit if it s cold outside otherwhise the oil is gonna be very hard to pul out

My driveway is on a slope, the vehicle itself is dead level. I describe making sure the vehicle is “nice and level” in the video
