Yeah for guys that do this professionally they got it all wrong. I actually own a gt500 and the launch control is pretty good even on a none prep surface very little spin in first and no spin in second with your foot to the floor and yeah that’s why it has a drag mode
your absolutely right! i also own a gt500 and im not being bias because of that on the other hand i feel like the gt500 driver was. just the way he was so negative from the start and talking down about the gt500s launch control??? the guy literally said "im going to launch this without launch control"????? like are you serious? i would take any m4 of the rip. first time i see one of these editors being so bias instead of letting the car do what it does best, ford engineers programed this state of the art computer to launch the car faster and better than any human its the reason why they also only made a dct available. they wanted to insure no human error like this BOZO just proved!!!!
Guys that own these and have been to Ford Performance Racing School; we learn how to launch. One of the tricks is to keep your steering wheel top dead center with no left/right input. That lowers the output if you move the wheel, even a little bit. There are other things too with launch control. But, no doubt the BMW is fast. I didn't buy the GT500 to be the fastest car in the universe. For me, it is the whole experience. And man does it handle amazing. Even on 4S tires in heavy rain.
I guess drag mode wouldn't be the best for the hard braking and tight turn, and maybe the best bet was the track one, only the guys in the video could know why it was that way
I own a gt500 too and I agree its the experience. If I wanted the fastest car on the block I’d buy it, but I enjoy my gt500 not race every time I start it up

As an owner of one, one of the best things to do is put the exhaust into race mode and slowly pull into a station to refuel. Everyone literally stops dead, turns around and stares.

I find it kind of funny that manual transmissions are considered sporty in the USA. I'm German and manual transmissions are super normal in europe. 70% of all cars are manuals vs. 7% in the US. From a certain power on let's say 300bhp a manual is so much slower in acceleration compared to a modern dsg, dct or even zf hp8. I like driving shift, it's kind of fun, but if you want the best performance frkm your car, automatic nowadays is better. I'm anyway wondering why people abroad with all the strict speedlimits love to buy those germans cars. I guess most of the people do not regualary go on track events...

Driver mod for sure…. So many videos of these two racing on the strip and this is the first one I’ve ever seen where the gt500 doesn’t win… m4 usually waaayyy behind… then again most other videos the drivers launch the gt500 better. This isn’t a close race if drivers are equal it’s all over the internet

I think you may want to rewatch that video. The M8 absolutely freight trains the GT500 from a dig. I love American muscle, but I just wish they'd offer AWD in their high performance cars. Then again, people who decry an AWD Mustang. But the CT5V Blackwing would be insane with AWD. Once you get to the power levels that some of these cars have, RWD is almost useless on the street. I had a 2005 GTO that made 600rwHP and it was a blast, but it was futile trying to get it to hook below third gear on the street. Even on DR's, 1st was pointless.
@@CU08 My AWD 2022 M240i is routinely poo-poo'd by the BMW purists for being AWD. Despite that, it'll still hang the tail out with the best of them if you want, thanks to some fantastic engineering on the power balance. The launch on this little thing is just brutal, though, and is 2/3 of the reason it can beat a lot of way more powerful cars from a stop. I compare it to my 600-ish HP '85 Silverado, where the rear tires just laugh at you when you mash the gas. The big block sounds awesome, but the little turbo BMW does all things fast so much better (and safer) - while also pulling down 35MPG on the interstate. Can't pull a trailer or haul home a new fridge, though, so the truck stays. :D
From a dig, the BMW driver won’t get to hear the GT500’s exhaust but nor will the Mustang driver have to look at the beaver-teeth grill of the M4 from their rear view mirror

They got completely different results than these clowns did with these two cars. I'm gonna put my money on the professionals rather than a couple of hipsters on TH-cam. If I were to stack the deck just right, I could give you a test showing the Avanti in a more favorable light than the M4. The BMW is a nice car but that Shelby would eat it for breakfast on the street; especially on the interstate.
The guy driving the mustang needs to use launch control to build boost it is a supercharged car but it only has too produce half the boost as a turbo charged car to leave correctly the guy in the BMW is using launch control and is leaving on the start at maximum boost and is leaving faster than the mustang.

The trap speed on the GT 500 was 7mph more than the BMW. At that speed with a good driver you looking at a 10 second car which can be evidenced at your local drag strip.
I don’t care driving a Yaris every day, getting tailgated every time then transform in a GT500 on a sunny weekend. That car is so good and looks good. Nothing looks like you on the road
Both cars are good. They both get the job done. I own a BMW but if the Mustang had all-wheel drive, I think it would do better. Honestly each has awesome specs.

Look at the E30 to E36 then E46 to E90 those were all massive changes each generation but they didn’t screw them up, some people didn’t prefer the design of those older BMWs but for the most part people at least liked them and never hated on generally. E60 for example was a huge change and was ugly for some, but it still had that BMW DNA and look how it aged. This new M3/4 are designed for marketing and to pull the Chinese Market.
It’s all about balance and as many videos as I’ve seen it’s obvious that this M cars have great balance. The only way they lose is when the rules start changing - “rolling starts, rear wheel only, no launch control, etc”. Amazing to see someone in a 760 HP celebrating after changing the rules. A 1/4 mile race is always from a stand still and bringing your best configuration. It’s like a kid that keeps changing and next thing you know it’s best out of 19. 🤣😂🤣

My M4 is a stick and kicks effing butt. But then again, I'm a lifelong manual transmission girl, with decades of experience driving so... I would never trade my M4 for a Stang. I like the luxury combined with kickin launch and gears that you can wind up and relaunch through to get to top speed, in the least amount of time. Plus, it's sexy.
Edmonds protecting BMW from being shamed shamelessly. Gt500 wins in every performance metric for less money. Even the 350R beats the M4 around any track for substantially less than a gt500. These guys know European companies will stop sending them cars to test if cheaper American cars beat the crap out of them.
This only proves that Chevrolet did the right thing by making the C8 mid-engined. 760hp and ONLY a 3.7sec 0-60 time. I would much rather have the Shelby GT350 with the 6spd Tremec over the GT500.

4171 lb vs 3830 lb Curb weight which is about 350 lb advantage to the M4. Not that great but definitly helps the M4

The trap speed on the GT 500 was 7mph more than the BMW. At that speed with a good driver you looking at a 10 second car which can be evidenced at your local drag strip.

They don’t have to make it ugly for a change. Look at the E30 to E36 then E46 to E90 those were all massive changes each generation but they didn’t screw them up, some people didn’t prefer the design of those older BMWs but for the most part people at least liked them and never hated on generally. E60 for example was a huge change and was ugly for some, but it still had that BMW DNA and look how it aged. This new M3/4 are designed for marketing and to pull the Chinese Market.

It’s all about balance and as many videos as I’ve seen it’s obvious that this M cars have great balance. The only way they lose is when the rules start changing - “rolling starts, rear wheel only, no launch control, etc”. Amazing to see someone in a 760 HP celebrating after changing the rules. A 1/4 mile race is always from a stand still and bringing your best configuration. It’s like a kid that keeps changing and next thing you know it’s best out of 19. 🤣😂🤣

Not sure about this one, but when the GT500 is equipped with the Carbon Fiber Track package, the M4 Competition stands no chance on the racetrack.
The GT500 makes its REAL POWER above 6,000 rpm, that showed with the 2nd gear @ 40 mph roll race, emphatically !!
The gt500 has 250 more HP right? I'd say the bimmer did pretty good considering the HP differences.

I would never trade my M4 for a Stang. I like the luxury combined with kickin launch and gears that you can wind up and relaunch through to get to top speed, in the least amount of time. Plus, it's sexy.
I've been spoiled by the U-Drag format. Point A to B drag races are so much less telling of a car's performance.

The Mustang GT 500 for me all day long.
Edmonds protecting BMW from being shamed shamelessly. Gt500 wins in every performance metric for less money. Even the 350R beats the M4 around any track for substantially less than a gt500. These guys know European companies will stop sending them cars to test if cheaper American cars beat the crap out of them.

its not about total HP numbers, but how its applied.
This only proves that Chevrolet did the right thing by making the C8 mid-engined. 760hp and ONLY a 3.7sec 0-60 time. I would much rather have the Shelby GT350 with the 6spd Tremec over the GT500.

In this case it would be true. Shelby keeps pulling real hard after 100mph. It can put over 4 seconds ftom 0-150mph on a Camaro 1LE with Extreme Track Package.
The GT500 makes it’s power at over 6000 rpm….This driver isn’t what I would call a launch expert😕
