The BMW launch was strong with Awd, where the Shelby GT500 was spinning. The Shelby pulls hard throughout the run showing it's impressive power. Each time I see the Shelby GT500. The more impressed I become. It's a beast. It appears the CFTP version are still limited on the streets. I'm a fan of drag racing, but some track comparisons would continue to show how special the Shelby GT500 is.

Bakhtiyar Mamadaliyev You are 100% right , Everyone Has to remember that the BMW S63TU engine is an engine from 2011 It’s this same engine in my M6 just tweaked here and there , My car made around 480 whp stock and 675 whp conservative tune stock clutches cant handle much more , The GT500 is a very impressive car I love it , but it’s really racing 10year old technology here in this vid , If you check DME tuning website you can see the stages and power gains and it’s no where near 1000hp ,definitely not in stock form , you have to install power add ons larger turbos Meth injection etc to get that kind of power

Makes me even more excited for Brooks to take delivery of his own Shelby. The number one issue I see them having in drag races is the launch, and he’s one of the best at them.

I don't see the M8s besting that by much. Perhaps a few years down the road with more aftermarket mods but that's not gonna be easy.

On the street there is no quarter mile limit, so those cars with more torque and higher top speed will pull past it eventually. I'm impressed by BMW still.

I'm a BMW guy, but I was actually surprised the M8 did so well. I didn't think it stood a chance against the Mustang. The loss was expected, but the narrow margin of loss was the shocker.

well its so good that BMW dev told the press they are no longer using the V8 because the L6 is too good, they are making more power with less cylinders, and they keep blowing up transmissions with it, if you think about it, the inline six is balanced, doesn't need balancing shafts, so its way lighter, and revs higher, what do you need more
@@ssllhh100 what do you mean they are no longer using the V8? It's in the 5, 7 & 8 series (including M5 & M8) as well as the X5, X6 & X7 (including X5M & X6M). Don't get me wrong I love BMW's straight six engines and ive owned half a dozen of those over the years, but the V8s are here to stay at least until plug-in hybrids take over and then we'll see more 4 cyl & 6 cyl engines supported by an electric motor or two, even in the M versions.

I had a tune only 87 GN that cost me 20k dollars went 12s then I turn the boost to 22psi and went mid 10s. Same car. So dnt just say tune only if boost has been jacked way up to achieve this time. Boost can be unlimited until the rods or headgasket decide they can no longer sustain the pressure.
That M8 impressed us. It is down more than 140HP and it put down some respectable times. It would be very interesting if the BMW had the same HP as the FORD. And the the BMW is heavier to boot.

Bruh, that was awesome. Didn’t think the GT500 stood a chance due to its crazy wheelspin. Really surprised me when it started to reel in the M8 soon after accelerating. However equally I’m really impressed by the M8, being 100hp down, and still managed to pull away at the start. AWD beats RWD any day lol
I would take that GT500 all day long even though I liked the M8 Competition. The supercharger whine and the V8 is ridiculous good, plus this Mustang handles very well as a muscle car and it is two times cheaper with more power. With a tune the GT500 would be too quick

The reason for the mustang lag is the duel clutch. It takes time to engage from lifting off the brakes to the power being put down. It’s the same in my M2 and M2 competition The M8C has an auto. It’s loaded up on the brakes so when you release there is no lag. That and the bmw driver is an animal
Both cars did excellent times but that GT500 doing a 10.5 with no drag radials is insane. But I will choose that M8 over the GT500 because it has more capabilities.
More capabilities? The Shelby GT500 does everything well like drag racing and track. The carbon fiber track package GT500 literally beats many super cars around the track.
Impressive. Seems like they have gotten the launch control down quite a bit better in the M8 vs the M5. Maybe to-do with the extended wheelbase or upgraded software, I dunno - but that M8 is hitting harder on the launch than any F90 I've seen (in person or youtube), that is for sure.
I mean, what an impressive car. The GT500 can keep up with, and beat a car that is $80k more expensive than it. And it can keep up with it on the track. Both are good cars, but if I had to choose between the two, it would be the GT500.
The Difference. The M8 can repeat that on any street. The GT500 will spin everywhere and will be way slower in the real world. It even spins on a preped track. An M8 can also run 9s with a good tune. And it will do it on any street. Traction is perfect. Its AWD. And its a way better daily with comfort and luxury interior. However, GT500 is a nice car.

M5 comp noticeably faster than m8 comp. That gt500 had no chance against m5 comp in 1/4 mile drag.

I'm a BMW guy, but I was actually surprised the M8 did so well. I didn't think it stood a chance against the Mustang. The loss was expected, but the narrow margin of loss was the shocker.

well its so good that BMW dev told the press they are no longer using the V8 because the L6 is too good, they are making more power with less cylinders, and they keep blowing up transmissions with it, if you think about it, the inline six is balanced, doesn't need balancing shafts, so its way lighter, and revs higher, what do you need more
@@ssllhh100 what do you mean they are no longer using the V8? It's in the 5, 7 & 8 series (including M5 & M8) as well as the X5, X6 & X7 (including X5M & X6M). Don't get me wrong I love BMW's straight six engines and ive owned half a dozen of those over the years, but the V8s are here to stay at least until plug-in hybrids take over and then we'll see more 4 cyl & 6 cyl engines supported by an electric motor or two, even in the M versions.

@Romel Roze the shelby was literally going 10 mph on the slips in ever run. With the acceleration times tilting in the gt500 time in all of them. If the slips are saying the gt500 is faster in almost ever category it's not the machine it's the drivers reaction time.

In essence what I'm saying is the gt500 running low 11s with a driver that reacting slower than the one his racing will lose everytime ON THE DRAGSTRIP. Drag racing isnt just the machine. If your talking about just racing down a regular street where it's not prepped and both are running identical tires the ALL WHEEL DRIVE CAN WILL ALWAYS GET THE BETTER START. You have no idea of what racing is period you probably have never done it period, outside of you and dumb friends smashing the gas from a red light. Learn wtf racing down a drag strip is it's more science and skill too it than you think, especially if you want too get the peak performance out of your car.

I had a tune only 87 GN that cost me 20k dollars went 12s then I turn the boost to 22psi and went mid 10s. Same car. So dnt just say tune only if boost has been jacked way up to achieve this time. Boost can be unlimited until the rods or headgasket decide they can no longer sustain the pressure.
That M8 impressed us. It is down more than 140HP and it put down some respectable times. It would be very interesting if the BMW had the same HP as the FORD. And the the BMW is heavier to boot.

Bruh, that was awesome. Didn’t think the GT500 stood a chance due to its crazy wheelspin. Really surprised me when it started to reel in the M8 soon after accelerating. However equally I’m really impressed by the M8, being 100hp down, and still managed to pull away at the start. AWD beats RWD any day lol

I would take that GT500 all day long even though I liked the M8 Competition. The supercharger whine and the V8 is ridiculous good, plus this Mustang handles very well as a muscle car and it is two times cheaper with more power. With a tune the GT500 would be too quick

I don’t feel like this was a close race. Brooks is definitely a better driver, but the GT500 is much quicker than the M8 in general.
The BMW will likely fall apart faster and the GT500 has a much higher chance of hitting a curb sideways at a car show.

Check the video of the GT500 vs Ford GT, Brooks said that the Mustang has lag between taking the foot off the brake and actually start moving
The reason for the mustang lag is the duel clutch. It takes time to engage from lifting off the brakes to the power being put down. It’s the same in my M2 and M2 competition
The M8C has an auto. It’s loaded up on the brakes so when you release there is no lag.
That and the bmw driver is an animal

Both cars did excellent times but that GT500 doing a 10.5 with no drag radials is insane. But I will choose that M8 over the GT500 because it has more capabilities.
More capabilities? The Shelby GT500 does everything well like drag racing and track. The carbon fiber track package GT500 literally beats many super cars around the track.
Impressive. Seems like they have gotten the launch control down quite a bit better in the M8 vs the M5. Maybe to-do with the extended wheelbase or upgraded software, I dunno - but that M8 is hitting harder on the launch than any F90 I've seen (in person or youtube), that is for sure.
I mean, what an impressive car. The GT500 can keep up with, and beat a car that is $80k more expensive than it. And it can keep up with it on the track. Both are good cars, but if I had to choose between the two, it would be the GT500.
You'd be hard pressed to touch a GT500 for less than 100K right now.
m8 looks better though and has better interior. If money doesn’t matter and you don’t go to the track often take the m8 otherwise gt500
The Difference. The M8 can repeat that on any street. The GT500 will spin everywhere and will be way slower in the real world. It even spins on a preped track.
An M8 can also run 9s with a good tune. And it will do it on any street. Traction is perfect. Its AWD. And its a way better daily with comfort and luxury interior.
However, GT500 is a nice car.
I just hope you have a second car after buying the Gt 500. Less than favorable weather will have the Gt 500 sidelined.
