I just love that we still have these beats in 2020. I’m still waiting to find my ideal F10 M5. I’m old enough to warrant a 4 door, and an 11 second luxury car is more than fast enough for me! (Plus I still have my Mustang Cobra from 1996 with a mod or two)
Can we mention how all 3 of these cars are engineering masterpieces in their own aspects? The BMW is yet another addition to a line of great cars. The polestar is very unique. The mustang is just pure nasty American power. All three are amazing in their own respects
That first one was actually a very impressive launch for the Mustang. Just enough slip to smoke a little but still a lot of traction. The 2nd one definitely deserved another shot.
Kind of true up to a quarter mile. Example Agera RS(twin turbo V8 1360hp RWD) vs Bugatti Chiron (quad turbo W16 1500 hp AWD) chiron could beat Agera RS to a quarter mile drag.... But what after that? Agera RS better acceleration....
I would get the GT500 as well but I wonder how the Polestar would be if it was 1200lbs lighter. It seems to be quite the luxury car but it goes against the NSX and Lexus LC500? They could've went a little more sporty i think

GT500 didn't hook at all, specially on the 2nd race & it was still called as best as it gets! at least from the video it looks like a spin, bogged down & then acceleration, lowering rpm should help.
M8 is a beast. See a lot tuning the platform on the new M5 but not really seen anyone do it to the M8. Would love to see even. Stage 1 tuned M8 to see what difference it makes.
That's not saying much when you can buy 2 GT500's or 3 GT350's for that price lol. They ruined that launch on the Mustang really bad though, you can see the burnout. The GT500 is faster in the quarter when hooked up properly. Either way the GT500 would still beat it around a track. Kind of ironic when a German car is good in a straight line and an American car is faster on the track

@@ishra8926 GT500 hasn't gone on the Nurbergring, but has beaten every GT3 RS on pretty much every major track in NA. It would definitely beat an M8 considering that lol. And on a high speed track like the Nurbergring the GT500 would walk the M8 easily. Look up the track times on NA tracks.

Not sure I get the GT500, is it a drag car or a track car? What kind of lap times does it do? As a pure drag car it might do ok on slicks, but on street tires or on the street it doesn't seem to hook that well.

You could change the badges around and they could mascarade as each other. Unlike a porsche 911 or Saab 900 or jeep wrangler. You can tell what those are in a dark foggy night from 500m away

Hm, not sure why they say $175k for the M8 ... the most I could get it to was $171k ... but that include CCB, Night Vision, A track day, High End Stereo (1400W), Drive Assist, Individual interior, exterior colors. Got the GT500 to $107k (and it's still $13k short to add 3'rd party CCB). Would be more meaningful to quote base list price, instead of whatever config the loaner car is.
This is a little off. I was just at an event where several GT500 were running mid to low 10s at 138 to 145. I say BS on the results of this vid. Tommyrot.
Bruh how did you not notice you were trying to launch the gt500 to hard? Spin/then bogged so hard when traction control pulled power. Should of launch at lowest rpm setting. And a burnout woulda helped as well
In Germany the Mustang isn‘t that much cheaper. Anyway I love the purity and sheer power of American muscle cars and maybe Iam just too old for all those modern car gadgets. I own an M8 Competition - and to be honest, it‘s a really fantastic car - , surely a much more refined and better built car than Mustang or even a Hellcat. But sometimes almost too perfect…

I own a new shelby gt350 and have driven multiple new gt500s as well as having 2 personal friends that own them. This guy driving, although he did say he messed up, did not warm the tires, nor does he know youre not supposed to launch on the street at 3000 RPMS on the drag mode. Any other driver and someone who knows the car wouldve beat down the m8. The m8 is not even a drag or circuit car its a hedge fund managers car to look good and have a little bit of oomph along the way. The gt500 with proper driver both in drag race and circuit beats most everything there is. IT ALSO SOUNDS THE BEST out of the 3, gt350 sounds the absolute best but yeah. There are literally hundreds of youtube channels proving this over and over. This is why no one will remember your name MOTOR1.
Should have turned traction control off in the Mustang and modulated the rear tire spin with the right foot. Traction control cost the Mustang the race against the BMW. As soon as the car spun a little the TC basically shut everything down. That said, driving the GT500 on an unprepped street with no burnout is not easy. Takes a lot of practice.

I've been emailing Ford for years telling them that the mustang needs an all wheel drive variant. Keep the rear wheel drive option for the purists but I'm telling you, when they get tired of getting roasted by an 800 hp awd mustang EVERYONE IS GOING TO WANT ONE ...purists included
I’m guessing guy in GT500 isn’t really familiar with how launch control actually works in a RWD car. Don’t get why he set launch rpm to 3000 when his tires aren’t even warm enough. Should have set it to 2400 at max to get better grip unless he can do a quick burnout.

The track is a little short for the GT500 to really show what it’s got.
It's the base model version not the GT500 carbon fiber package track version which has stickier tires and more downforce.
The GT500 would have hunted down the M8 and game over.

In Mustang Launch control only works when esp is on and esp cuts the gas when burnout so mustang couldn’t go full gas at launch

Not quite apples to apples here. Should’ve done a 40 roll. It was a hybrid vs all wheel drive vs rear wheel drive lol. What was more cost effective

In Germany the Mustang isn‘t that much cheaper. Anyway I love the purity and sheer power of American muscle cars and maybe Iam just too old for all those modern car gadgets.
I own an M8 Competition - and to be honest, it‘s a really fantastic car - , surely a much more refined and better built car than Mustang or even a Hellcat. But sometimes almost too perfect…

@@danielvisintainer3352 totally agree Daniel on a prepped drag strip in the right conditions the Shelby would be a beast. In the real world at the traffic lights the mustang would not see where the M8 went whilst trying to put that power down.

I own a new shelby gt350 and have driven multiple new gt500s as well as having 2 personal friends that own them. This guy driving, although he did say he messed up, did not warm the tires, nor does he know youre not supposed to launch on the street at 3000 RPMS on the drag mode. Any other driver and someone who knows the car wouldve beat down the m8. The m8 is not even a drag or circuit car its a hedge fund managers car to look good and have a little bit of oomph along the way. The gt500 with proper driver both in drag race and circuit beats most everything there is. IT ALSO SOUNDS THE BEST out of the 3, gt350 sounds the absolute best but yeah. There are literally hundreds of youtube channels proving this over and over. This is why no one will remember your name MOTOR1.

Should have turned traction control off in the Mustang and modulated the rear tire spin with the right foot. Traction control cost the Mustang the race against the BMW. As soon as the car spun a little the TC basically shut everything down. That said, driving the GT500 on an unprepped street with no burnout is not easy. Takes a lot of practice.

I’m guessing guy in GT500 isn’t really familiar with how launch control actually works in a RWD car. Don’t get why he set launch rpm to 3000 when his tires aren’t even warm enough. Should have set it to 2400 at max to get better grip unless he can do a quick burnout.
