Simple tip for putting on the gimble protector. Slide over and square up lens FIRST then place top two tabs in THEN bottom tabs into place. Took me awhile to figure that out but once you do you’ll love the ease of it all.
Hey Carson.... Got my MA 2 about two weeks ago. I've been online watching Drone Valley, 51 Drones, Captain Drone, and a few other sites to sort of get up to speed on what to expect, or need to fly my MA 2. One guy is really quite thorough on all the functions of the controller - droneXfactor. FYI - there is a tablet adaptor from PGY Tech, that works quite well with my iPad Mini 4 (which is what I always fly with). It slips snuggly into the phone cradle. Next, to use a tablet such as mine, you will have to get a 30cm connecting cable, which I bought through Drone Valley. None of the cables that come with the MA 2 will reach. (I think B&H also has the cable, but call to make specific request. Learned the hard way) There is one thing - you can't store/close up the phone holder/antenna, with the longer cable installed. Connector at the controller has a different design. Additionally, the RTH button also serves as the PAUSE button. Press once only for this function. Twice for RTH. Its in the MA 2 Owners Manual (not the one you got with your drone. Need to download the pdf manual from DJI). I could rattle on, but enough said for now. OH! For those interested in range testing - check out Dustin Dunnill (a guy on the island of Maui) for this. He got out to 4.9 miles. Uh... VLOS..... What's that? Sketchy???????

If you don’t have the Money for the Mavic Air 2 and you don’t plan on using your drone for commercial purposes in the future & you don’t care about the lower resolution video of the Mavic Mini, Mavic Mini is the way to go 100%. It’s a fantastic drone and I believe you’ll be very happy with it! I love mine and have flown it lots since I got it :)
I got the mini as my first drone and it was great to learn everything there is about drones. I was able to learn how to fly and film like a pro plus it was super portable. I now just upgraded to the MA2. I highly recommend the mini for a first drone it’s amazing
Might check out Dustin Dunnill's site for this type of info. He's constantly doing range tests on various drones. On the MA 2, he got up to 4.9 miles, before heading back to the ranch. Batteries have to be at full charge, little wind, if you choose to do this. FYI - Part 107 Certificated drone pilots, don't tend to engage in this type of endeavor. Carson is a Part 107 Certified Pilot.

Carson Miller It’s really down to affordability mate, I couldn’t stretch another £200 even though what you get is worth it. I bought the drone and got an extra battery for Father’s Day. Bought a bag from eBay ! All set for an extra £125 ? Each to their own I suppose. But the drone is amazing!!
Still flying our spark which is good enough for now but this drone is on the bucket list. Good video but the transitions are a bit distracting, calm down with those and the production level goes up a ton.
When The APAS option is enabled you should see the drone avoiding automatically obstacles and not going to a stop I thing it wasnt enabled when you did the review on it

Mavic Mini camera locks into place? Hmmm, I gotta figure that one out. I constantly struggle with that protector. As a side note, in under a week I managed to smash my Mini into a tree at 24 mph while horsing around with my dog. Snapped the gimble mount but had the fore-sense to purchase the DJI care insurance. They paid for the shipping to Texas and back so hopefully I'll be back in business in a couple of weeks. Cheers!
@@carsonmtech Well, it has been over 3 business days since the Mavic repair shop in Grapevine, TX received my aircraft according to UPS. They have yet to log it in as far as I can see. I checked the DJI care status and they have my case number but it does not even show that it arrived. I found 2 telephone numbers but they both did not go through. We'll see how this goes...
I finally reached DJI care and after 20minutes they said that it was already out for delivery for me today. It turned out they just gave me another unit. I appreciate the super quick turn-around but my aircraft only had like 3 hours on it and who knows what I'll get.... Not sure how I feel about this.
Well, they sent me a brand new mini! And, they must have shipped it out the day after they got it so I am very satisfied! No worries updating the firmware and such but I noticed that the gimble would 'jerk' back to center when I moved the mini forward or backward so maybe a recalibration might fix this. I noticed this on the other mini only when I had the filter on too loose. Hmmm.
What the controller is perfect the way it is you can fit any phone size on it. Thats why I trade my mini cause it can only hold small to medium phones not large phones.
@7:17 Nope. It still doesn't fit my Otterbox Case and I'm pretty disappointed at the controller. Every TH-camr around were saying it would fit the phone with a case which is far from the truth for mine. If it was just 1 in longer in extension, it would fit. Hopefully the next iteration will fix this.

That would technically be illegal in the FAA eyes. Flying a drone from another flying vehicle is NOT legal. BUT, if you had someone else flying the drone from the ground and you guys were able to keep a safe distance from each other, then yes.

Just remember, when ADS-B is on it is transmitting your drone's id number if it is registered like it should be. So bust air space restrictions the govt will know who you are. But ADS-B does not transmit altitude, that's mode-c.

yea, i lasted 6 days before I did that. I strongly recommend the DJI care insurance at $39 with a $40 deductable. Great protection at an affordable price.

I was able to take the mini up over an area where cars cannot go and actually spotted a missing lab in the open field! Happily reunited with his family. With the MA2 I would add strobe and lights since I do not have to worry about the excess weight so we can do nightime searches. Cheers!
@@kdtrimble Just a heads-up... From what I've seen online thus far, there is NO lighting kit - strobe or otherwise - for the MA 2. There are kits for the Mavic Pro (Platinum) and Mavic 2Pro. Caution on this as well. There is a separate lighting kit for each of these drones if you go through Lume Cube. Their strobe however fits both the Pro and 2Pro. Because the MA 2 weighs 1.2 pounds, and external lighting kit (which attaches to the gear legs) might add a bit more weight than what it can comfortably carry. Motors will run hotter with extra weight. Just an FYI Caution Note.
Well, unfortunately, I crashed this Mavic Air 2 and I’ve got many years of flying under my belt with only about 4 total crashes ever, so don’t be so hard on yourself. Practice makes perfect though!
If you own a Mavic 2 pro or zoom, the Air2 isn't worth it. The parallel follow mode is useless, that's even better on the Air1. Portability is also a minus vs the old one. I've waited untill this new Air got released but it's dissapointing.
