So basically the manual one because of his unfamiliarity with the PDK? Pretty much every other comparison has the PDK as quicker.
Plato demonstrating his own inadequacies and prejudices. He was going to do a slower lap before he even started.
Its embarrassing that a well-known car magazine (channel, whatever) doesn't know that you let PDK do the shifting. Fail.
PDK has shorter gearing and 1 extra ratio.. That plus quicker shifts.. It's a quicker car with better economy. Boring though!
If that is so ,why do they have flappy padels?
1st gen pdk is so overrated.

The PDK Transmission is the best thing since Sliced Bread, FANTASTIC Component. I believe it outsells the Manual trans in the USA at least.
Jason was never in love or comfotable with the auto model so went slower in it. Manual is more fun of course but PDK/DSG/S-tronic is proven quicker than manual
I have a BMW 323i with just 200hp and I still prefer the manual for driving. It's not even about power delivery or performance, it's just the extra bonus of the driving experience.
zdrux i drive a 75hp clio yet when im revving the engine to death and then slamming into the next gear i feel like im in some fast and furious shit!

I think he should have just put it in automatic mode and not worried about shifting. That would have been a better comparison between the manual and PDK. If he had let the car do the shifting for him the PDK would probably have been faster like it is in Porsche's other cars that came with both transmissions.
better yet he should have hired a professional driver who actually knows how to drive the car.
Golf R Audi S3 dsg/stronic these are good and I never thought I’d love or own an auto. But after driving a van all day it’s a joy to sit back and relax and let the car do it’s thing. Or pop it into manual and listens to the pops as you change gear. Awesome cars.
and now the PDK is probably the best automatic gearbox in the world.
In California and crappy LA traffic, automatic (tiptronic) all the way.
Supercars and hypercars should have a DCT for insane performance. But affordable sports cars like this should be a manual. Sometimes, the driving experience triumphs raw numbers.

Total agree with you Jason , as a racing driver the pdk is counter intuitive..
I own a 2.7 manual, and never even considered anything else. PDK would kill the entire driving experience IMO.
Auto for my daily driver but my Boxster has to be stick. Auto in a sports car, why?

If you truly wanted a solid result you would have let 2-3 drivers drive both cars and get their times. This driver is clear overly biased against semi-auto transmissions and won't drive it as well as he does with the manual.

The manual transmission is easy to learn, difficult to master.
I actually have a lot of pseudo-enthusiast friends who drive manuals, many of them daily. And of them I am the only one who actually knows how to heel-to-toe downshift...some of them haven't even heard of it.
There is something very satisfying about driving a manual on a windy road, or track and getting it just right.
Driving a good auto can still be fun, but it's like playing a game on easy mode...don't expect anyone to think highly of you for winning.
If you want a pure track weapon, get the manual, if you want a daily drive that's fun, get the auto.
Thing is. The PDK is much faster on track. Only the baboon in this video can’t handle it.

A Manuel makes the driver one with the car.A lot more fun too.Auto's are for lazy driver's.
