Damn.. Jake hanging in my comments. Thought I would never see the day 😂 Glad you saw my intention when doing any comparisons. Definitely was not my intention to "bash" the way even 550 performance was originally suggesting to do this mod. You are much more crafty than many others and I suspect the mod can easily be done worse than you did and then it could be a problem for someone 😁 I noticed rescently that Maveric from 550 has added a new part to their CRF300 catalogue. It's a completely new velocity stack pipe made to fit the original box opening. In pictures it looks 3D printed but I suspect it still is rubber of some kind. Thanks for the comment Jake 😁 Big fan!
I have done everything you have minus the velocity stack. Plus I swapped the 40T rear sprocket to a 42T to get that low end punch your missing. With all the other mods, the bike doesn’t lose any top end speed by adding just 2 more teeth. But now I can get the front tire off the ground without having to grab a handful of clutch. My bike topped out at 81mph in stock form, and it still tops out at 81mph.
Difference of 5 seconds off the 30-120 is crazy. The bike is much more fun to ride now. So much so that my big bike doesnr get ridden much anymore 😅 How Fast is it: th-cam.com/video/0Dh0g1QIY7A/w-d-xo.html
Great video man. I have all the same mods but I didn't feel like going through the hassle of installing the snorkel. This makes me wanna do the snorkel mod the way you did it. Enjoy
Ive got all these mods except the air intake trumpet because i didnt want to ruin mine either but ive ordered the metal trumpet and im gonna try copy your install. My bike as is does not have the power at the higher rpm that yours does and i belove that is down to that short intake with the metal weber trumpet. Thank You and your video was also super fun to watch.
@@PatchedBandit I just did that weber trumpet mod and it made a huge diffrene. So i bought the akro pipe and the 550 ecu for 91 octane withe a foam filter and the screen door mode and like you i didnt put the other intake boot because it didnt fit right. It feels like the fuel is now burning completly and im getting everything out of the tune.
I wonder if this effects the reliability and fuel economy much? This seems to be the best dual sport bike with this mod that doesn't have performance level service intervals. Very tempting
I don't see how it would negatively affect reliability. One could even argue that the engine tune is now correct and therefore is better for long term reliability. Stock engines with the "euro" and other restrictions tend to run pretty lean. This ECU tune is optimizing the engine to run with the correct mixture. I have a chapter in the description about the fuel consumption from my first longer ride.
@@PatchedBandit ooohhhh!!! What a nice place to ride! Here in crete we had 29 Celsius yesterday... so hello Finland!! Honda crf300l al the way and here and there and everywhere!!!
Hey man thanks for the video I have the same bike as you that CRF300L Rally 2023 and I just did the same as you only difference is I did the 87 Octane Stage 1.0 but I did essentially the same on the snorkel, with the yoshimura Rs4 exhaust crazy hp and torque. Thank you very nice video I couldn’t done on my bike without your video👌
The length of intake tube matters. My car has electrically adjusted telescopic intake tubes that extend longer in low RPM for better torque and retract shorter for high RPM power. Cutting it short is not without side effect. I'm still searching for lightweight aftermarket exhaust that is not louder than stock exhaust. Riding offroad is illegal essentially everywhere in my country so we need to keep as silent as possible to avoid trouble. I wonder if you are going to replace heavy Pb battery with LiFePo and to remove pointless ABS to reduce weight?
True that there is always side affects on modifying the airboxes but this ECU tune is optimized for the CB300 stack and HF lid so I tend to lean that this is a benefit considering high rpm power production. If I want a fully euro stamped exhaust at some point I'm probably going with Arrow. They even have a midpipe with approved CAT. This dominator is probably one of the louder ones available but also one of the cheaper ones too. I already swapped the battery here: th-cam.com/users/shortsHSNgOZXblik?feature=share I might do the collector box delete later but I'm probably gonna leave the ABS as it's not such a big benefit to remove.
@@PatchedBandit One of the attributes of the CRF 300L is how quiet it is. Is the trade off worth it? From you laughter during the video, I believe you thinks so ;)
Well. I might swap the dominator to a quieter optiom later. It is definitely too loud for public roads 😂 but some people love the sound.. I’m gonna get sick of it after a while. Something midway from this and the stock would be great.
Thanks so very much for sharing your experience with this video, it’s definitely a better option than Jake the Garden Snake. After watching your video I went on eBay and purchased the metal trumpet but unfortunately the high velocity air box cover is out of stock. And I love the sound of the dominator, will definitely be buying one of those. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks! I have a Dominator vs. Yoshimura episode coming very soon so you might want to wait 😁 I have a channel member video out already that compares the two in a 1:1 test ride. I will have the public episode out within the next 3 weeks or so...
Excellent info, I like the modification to and use of the stock velocity stack, smart and the route I would probably try. Like you I am not sure I could handle or like the attention I would get with the loud exhaust, maybe when I was 16 I would have thought it was cool. I would be curious how it would run with the stock exhaust. I look forward to your next video.
I'm pretty sure the stock exhaust is a major restriction and 550 performance states that the exhaust swap is the only necessary for this level 1.0 mod. The bike is according to them going to run better with this tune if you do all the same mods as me. I would recommend looking into Yoshimura RS-4 as it would most likely sound much less nasty. I just didn't want to pay the money now.. but I might do that later.
Good video! I have my doubts with the modified nozzle. The CBR one would always be flush with the air box but yours would produce more turbulence when inserted into it, right? It would be a mix between images 1 and 4 of the image provided by 550 (10:17)
Even the cb300 part is not flush with the box. Some turbulence inside the box is always to be expected but that would the same with the stock nossle. The long snout is even further from the throttle body and works fine. This mod is nicer than cb300 since it turns parallel wit the airbox as the airbox also turns down at the beginning.
Great work and interesting solutions. The only incorrect measurement you made is the stock velocity stack is larger than the cbr stack. You’re comparing a previously installed stack that’s been stretched out against a never installed stack. Once the cbr stack is stretched over the throttle body, they will measure the same. I used the cbr part and clocked it to match the stock angle so installation will be as easy as stock. My mods will add so much performance that I won’t miss the intake expansion chamber. I did cut off the stock stack in the same place you did but used the cut off velocity piece to double the intake capacity without compromising my waterproofing. I just drilled a parallel hole next to the snorkel and rtv’d the velocity tube in place. With the 550 performance ECU Stage 3.0 reflash, cbr cams and 301cc big bore kit, the power boost should be more satisfying. Being more than 100 lbs. heavier with half the power of my KTM 500, I will also go to a lithium battery to cut weight. It will never match my KTM in performance, but the Honda reliability will make it my daily driver.
True. It's not gonna be a racing tight bike but it definitely has some good pickup with these mods. I might upgrade to the big bore later just because these videos are interesting 😂
Honda did all of this under-sizing of intake air strictly to meet emission requirements, I know you're doing this one correctly since I've seen it done. I will say that you're cleaner than the other guy but both of you got the job done. If you were to do the 301cc kit I think you'd have to do this intake job but how would the ECU numbers work? I mean, after the big bore the fuel numbers would need to be changed along w/ the air..... but I'm guessing you would not use/need the 550 ECU flash in this case? IDKnow but it just hit me that there's several different things that might offer you an ECU change in numbers & you can't use all of them. I did really digg the suspension video, loved those guys ~ how professional they were ! peace
Thank you, I've heard of a handful of these ECU related upgrades but didn't know if it added to the Bike's Brain or simply flashed over the whole system..... now I got it. much appreciated.
Nice video! It looks really fun to ride now. I wonder if there are a way to keep the bike silent, and get some low end torque from that bike? Or at least more silent 😄👍
Great video. Just ordered the velocity stack. Do you see any reason why you couldn’t cut the snorkel in place without removing it, or the airbox, and shoving the new velocity stack in from inside the airbox or do you think too much force is required to get the stack in?
Hi! Love you're videos. I'm about to buy one CRFL. Question: did you put db killer in the exhaust? Does it come with it at all? I've checked out all the aftermarket exhaust and Dominator looks the best to my mind but sounds very loud. I mean I love it, but you know the problem with that as you also mentioned about it. Looking forward to your answer. Cheers !
What's the fuel consumption now? Also, how do you plan to pass tehno check with this? I assume just swap the pipe back to stock, pass, put this pipe back on?
@@PatchedBandit Ah didn't read the desc :D I'm seriously looking at getting this as a second bike to have some off-road fun, should be a great deal getting this for around 6k eur and doing suspension, exhaust, ecu, airbox mods.
That metal piece you used where did you get it? Or fabricate it out of? I’d love to do the similar thing without having to use the other velocity stack!
Check description and the links to all the products. I don't post pricing in these videos because it varies by country a LOT depending on do you need to import/export stuff etc.
Thank you for showing us some alternatives man! So from my understanding you got these results from the following mods: full exhaust, airbox mod shown in the video and 550 stage 1 ecu? Did you also put the high flow airbox lid or aftermarket filter or I may have missed it? Also, did you notice increase in top speed and maybe bike feeling more comfortable at higher speeds that previously on stock when the engine was struggling?
Still using the stock paper filter. All the Level 1 mods are in the bike. It will affect the highway performance too but at the top speeds wind restistance is going to be limiting tha cabability no matter tune or no tune. Here you can probably get a better understanding on how drastic the difference is: th-cam.com/video/0Dh0g1QIY7A/w-d-xo.html
Hi PatchedBandit, I’ve just received the Trumpet, so I’m on my way to upgrade my crf300 Rally. I hope your upgrades are going well, I’ve watched many videos and I decided to go the route you took with a metal trumpet. Did you get any feedback back from 550 about your adaption and not using the cb high flow airbox velocity stack. Also would you do the Big Bore kit, I’m going that way I think. Straight to the Nut House😂😇🤔🤪👍👍 Thanks for the great videos, you inspired me to go the whole hog.
I might do the big bore later but for now I love what the bike offers on the 1.0 tune. Big bore would probably be nuts and hella fun though 😁 We didnt' really chat about the trumpet afterwards but they watched the video and feedback was positive 😅
@@PatchedBandit so your still impressed with just the Stage 1. I just don’t want to keep sending my ECU to America, so thought I’d go full bore! Stage 4 off the bat. It could be good enough to race it up our local Hill Climb, for a laugh 😂🤪 I’ll keep watching you for updates and progress, your work in documenting the speed differences should be commended. 👍
@@DoodleRiderGSA It would be interesting to test the difference to the stag 4.0 from where I'm right now. That alone would be worth making the big bore to my bike too at some point
@@PatchedBandit I shall be ordering the Big Bore end of month, so as long as I get my arse in gear, I should have it fitted by end of September mid October. It doesn’t get as cold here as where you are, so I could video some runs, but speed limit here is 40mph/62kmph so have to be a good boy doing it or I could go to France. Shonky Productions who is another one who I’m copying on the stage 4 set up, says it could do 100mph and he loves the power right through. We will see and I will keep you up dated.👍
The louder exhaust is not for me. But the better punch/pick-up, the better low-speed/low-rev without stalling/twitchyness. Hmmh, mouth-watering. 20% faster acceleration would be a lot. Happy rides, Günter/Nürnberg
The sound might get a bit much in longer trips. The Yoshimura RS-4 would most likely be more chill but it's almost 3x the price in EU. I might swap for that later but the tune works great so far 😊
Noticed from IG that you found some solution :) Can't remember this myself as I just removed the HL in this install and never put it back. It's somewhere in my storage unit 😁
This SHOULD be the same or close to the same: www.ebay.com/itm/Trumpet-40mm-3-2-Weber-40-DCOE-slide-in-Velocity-Stack-ALLOY-air-horn-ram-pipe-/302330332445?_ul=IL I don't plan to swap the filter now. I just put in a fresh stock paper. If I ride a lot in groups the twin air would be nice but for now It's ok with the stock one.
I would be very surprised if that would affect the performance much if at all. I went from 16 seconds to 11 seconds doing 30-120kph with the tune already. I might test an aftermarker "high flow" filter later if I can find a good one for it but so far I don't feel that the bike is starving for air.
@PatchedBandit Thanks for responding 👍 I'm looking forward to the aftermarket airfilter test as everybody seems to include the twin air filter change when upgrading the ecu, and 550 Performance also recommends.
Well this is what the part is manufactured to do (velocity stack) and the stock pipe has a smaller lip… Totally nonsensical that this would be a problem.
If you don't want to do a lot of modifications with that ratio I would go for the Rally. You can make the L work with a rally tower, bigger tank etc.. but it requires some more work. Rally is more out the box ready to do some serious mileage. But if you can save some money and can work a bit on the bike the L is a very good option. Just get a rally tower and Acerbis tank and you will have a more offroad cabaple bike with longer range and better lights.
@@PatchedBandit Thank you so much 👍 so If they would cost the Same you should choose the rally? Many says its heavier and not so good ofroad like the L
L benefits from less plastics that can and probably will brake in offroad ridingf situations. Therefore you might be tempted to put on crashbars to the Rally version which the L in my opinion doesn't need. This bike is pretty heavy compared to some enduro/motocross bikes arleady so I recommend keeping it as light as it can be. With the L you will get a 4kg lighter starting point and with the rally tower and acerbis tank on mine I only gain about 1kg to the bike. Mine is therefore lighter, less plastics to brake, no need for crashbars, better range (acerbis vs base rally model) and I prefer riding the more "slim" bike offroad. L is the one I would go for personally every time. But like I said if you want a bike that is more travel ready out the box then the Rally model is a better option especially if they are close in pricepoint. Rally tower and acerbis tank upgrade cost close to a 1000 € in Finland. But the Rally model is also almost 2000 € more expensive in finland so I'm still saving money with the L. Please check my CRF playlist here: th-cam.com/play/PLjuLZY6TnpPnQWrKL7vgN6eCmeAY5Ea4Z.html
Depending on what you do with the bike it is or isn't. It's a lot of money to put into a CRF but then again you are getting Honda reliability, service intervals and traveling comfort with the CRF. I admit I ride a bit hard at times and I do at least half the service interval in the manual but still the KTM 350 can't do 5000km with one set of engine oils and I'm pretty sure I don't need a full engine rebuild at 100 hours. Let's put it this way: I might buy the KTM 350 but I would still not sell the CRF. I would keep both.
550 performance has separate but similar mods for the 250. Check the website and ask them via e-mail if you are unsure. I believe the airbox mod was much easier on the 250.
🤔 You think Weber Carbs is wondering why in the world did we just sell 7500 40mm velocity stacks? 😂 You should get some credit for that one. Thank You by the way for posting!!! 👍 🍻
Honestly I've got full stage 4 but with a limiting MotoX exhaust and your bike looks to be as quick as mine. Your intake mod is a big step ahead of the CBR conversion. My next step is to turf the MotoX and get a Yoshi.
They don't fit well under the plastics of the CRF. There is a good video sample of this on YT and they also let water through easier than the frogskin. I might try and modify a prefilter slot on top or under the frogskin later as I would like to use prefilters to extend the life of the main filter or use a high flow main filter with less effective filtering.
No they dont lol, You fit them in the Air box door/cover as they sit flush to the cover, been using them for 20 plus years in all my overland and mx/enduro bikes
In finland it's about 24% on top of the total cost. VAT is easily the biggest cost. Still if you go without the CB300 stack and do this the same Way I did it's pretty affordable. Exhaust is the biggest moneypit and these cheaper ones can be pretty loud.
Perkele! Now I'm first time ever interested in CRF300L 😀 Maybe I'd prefer a little bit more effective dB killer but otherwise a very tempting video. 👍 Looking forward to the acceleration test!
Another great and inspiring vid! Out of funds after the Rally Raid convertion . BTW this really transformed the bike. Yeah, Yoshi are expensive and all but Arrow (also expensive, but EU aprroved) are illegal here in Norway. Yes they are pulling bikes over here and giving fines 😞
That's bad. Yes I understood that arrow sells a fully approved setup with a cat but .. it might be pretty restricting like the stock pipe. This setup might not be great for commuting in town but I tend to mostly ride this offroad.
That is the smart thing to do with the CRF. The weakest part of this bike is the suspension. Front and rear. I made the mistake of going with the YSS suspension which doesn’t work well with this bike at all. Especially the fork kit . Lesson learned. I am going to go with the Rally Raid next month. The design of the motor really doesn’t lend in self to any large gains in HP.
@@user-se7vt5ow4e Very happy with the RR set up and also have the Hydraulic preload adjuster. As for engine mods, these have bee tuned for ages in the cbr300. Anyway, it about improving drivablity. Also, a small gain on a low powered engine is a big gain. :-) Still agree that suspension is the 1st mod. No point in more power if the bike doesnt handle :-)
@@no66 I installed the Twin Air a/f kit and Akropovic full system before I even rode the bike. On my first dual sport ride last weekend (170 miles) the power wasn't what was lacking! It was definitely the suspension that was holding me back. Overall the ride was comfortable just about everywhere but it was riding so deep in its travel I couldn't get the bike to react when needed. There was one situation where I was coming up on an uphill rut and I wanted to seat bounce off a rock to clear it but the bike couldn't do it. I have the CBR stack but because that is much more involved, I wanted to see how it felt with just the changes already. Yes, it does have more pickup with my "seat of the pants" test rides. . Thought about the metal "trumpet". I'm considering cutting the stock intake like you did (maybe a little shorter) heating it with a heat gun and flaring the end out to be similar to the CBR stack and the metal trumpet. What are your thoughts about that? Also, I want to cut that ridge inside the air box down or completely remove it. Thanks again for the video!! . On a side note about youtube and my channel. Now that I am back into riding, it was my first addiction before fishing, I am asking myself, do I combine my addictions in one yt channel and change the name to, "Bay Boat and Bike Life" or start a totally different channel just for the bike info? I really do not want 2 channels. Jeff
To the first question I would say that heatgun was the first idea to me too but then I read up about it online a bit more and the consensus online is that rubber doesn't really want to be manipulated with heat. It might get very brittle and even shrink from the heat so it's not like modling plastic. I would steer you away from the heatgun idea from what I have read online. Cutting the ridge off can't do any harm. Not sure how much it is affecting the flow though. Considering youtube is a very tough place to give channel advice as combining 2 subjects might be a great way to identify your channel from all the rest of the million motorcycle channels out there. BUT on the other hand usually sticking to signle subject is considered more effective. It's pretty simple in a way that people watching your fishing videos are most likely not all that interested in your motorcycle content and the same in the opposite way. Like I would be watching your moto content but not necessarily all that interested in the fishing. Even though most like fishing it's not content I look on the weekly or even monthly online. As a general rule it's good to find a niche and stick to it and second rule usually is to keep the channel in that niche. It took me a long time to realise that people are not interested in ME.. But the bikes. And I have steered my content a lot in that direction lately. I started this like many others just to make fun videos about things I do. But I post less and less about my daytoday trips and focus on creating more informational content. I'm still gonna do some entertainment too but I know I'm not very good at it. You might be so that's why it's so tough to give this advice.. I don't want to steer you away from a winning combo. Trial and error my friend! 😄

@@ChristianSuarez-tw6ij I've had plenty of straight through pipes and cans, the crf300 is not a nice loud, it's in my opinion obnoxious unlike my bandit 1200 or gsxr
1. Let there be no confusion here. This WILL void the bikes warranty fully. 2. These tunes have not been made to the CRF300 so long that anybody would be hearing of the pistons been blown from these engines. 3. This is not a very intrusive tune in that none of the moving parts are modified. The engine will just breathe better as all the restrictive 'environmentally friendly' blocks are taken off the bike. This being said EVERYONE is doing the work to their own bike on their own responsibility! Only time will tell how the longevity is affected. I am willing to take the risk but I fully understand that this is not for everyone and if reliability is the absolute no.1 thing for any of you I definitely don't recommend doing anything to the stock bike. I am willing to be the test dummy and report back how life is with the tuned Honda. If I blow the engine on mine I will make a video for sure.
Since i added full exhaust, 550 tune with sport cams and minor airbox mod (cut 3'' off snorkel and cut 4- 1" holes), i've put 8,000 miles of mixed pavement/off road with no problems whatsoever. At 7800 i replaced the worn out stock chain and sprockets. When it hits 10,000 miles i'll install the 550 performance big bore kit. I've not heard of any CRF 300l/Rally with "blown piston". These bikes are over built for longevity. So far It's been much more reliable than any of the KTMs ive owned, particularly the 790 adv.
- Uncomfortable - Vibrations - Service intervals - Reliability And if you talk about 690 too heavy. You can't compare this CRF build directly to any KTM model and say KTM is better in all aspects. Plus it's fun to mod bikes so....
These are popular bikes around the world. Thus you have a massive aftermarket pimping endless parts to "enhance" your CRF. Oh, what do those pesky fluid dynamics engineers at Honda know about airboxes? Time to lash on an opened airbox so the bike can breathe "better." OK, git 'er dun, Jethro!
The same engineer needs to conform to euro 4 and 5 requlations and cant make the bike as good as it can be. This is now as good as it can. 5 seconds off the 30-120 time thank ya very much 😎
@nhardy2480 This bike is so much better in other ways. Big ones being comfort, reliability, long service intervals. If power was the only factor I would have a 350 exc from ktm. Thats like saying they should not even sell the CRF300 because there are more powerful options.

Glad I could help! 😄 now its an angry little CRF 👹😄
I already swapped the battery here: th-cam.com/users/shortsHSNgOZXblik?feature=share
I might do the collector box delete later but I'm probably gonna leave the ABS as it's not such a big benefit to remove.
Excellent video that looks like a transformed bike . Is possible to do this same conversion to a crf 300 rally ?
Yes. All the same mods seen on this video should fit the Rally version too.
You did what I was thinking with the stock air intake tub. Where did you find that velocity STACK? Great video.

I would like wire that velocity stack just like you do a handlebar grip
No need to put anything extra in the airbox. That thing is not going anywhere.

I just didn't want to pay the money now.. but I might do that later.

good video :) where did you get that metal part for the velocity stack?
Check description. Should be in the first few lines 😊
You dont have to drain the tank in order to remove it. Just disconnect the fuel line and electronic wiring and thats it.
I wanted to make sure I won't spill anything to the garage as It's not mine. Good tip for anyone doing this if it doesn't leak.
Honda did all of this under-sizing of intake air strictly to meet emission requirements, I know you're doing this one correctly since
I've seen it done. I will say that you're cleaner than the other guy but both of you got the job done. If you were to do the 301cc kit
I think you'd have to do this intake job but how would the ECU numbers work? I mean, after the big bore the fuel numbers would
need to be changed along w/ the air..... but I'm guessing you would not use/need the 550 ECU flash in this case? IDKnow but it
just hit me that there's several different things that might offer you an ECU change in numbers & you can't use all of them. I did
really digg the suspension video, loved those guys ~ how professional they were ! peace
550 Performance has a different ECU tune for the big bore level of tuning. I would just reflash the ECU to support the big bore.
Thank you, I've heard of a handful of these ECU related upgrades but didn't know if it added to the Bike's Brain or
simply flashed over the whole system..... now I got it. much appreciated.
Great video, very nice results. Do you have info in the velocity stack you used, either a source or the dimentions of it ? Thank you.
Chech the few links in the start of the video description
They make big bore kits for it right? Wonder how much hp you can get out of the 300?
I think the 4.0 tune with everything is around 35 wheel hp. I might do that next winter if 550 sponsors me another video 😅
Nice video! It looks really fun to ride now. I wonder if there are a way to keep the bike silent, and get some low end torque from that bike? Or at least more silent 😄👍
More high end exhaust system would do that I'm sure. Yoshimura RS4 would be my bet if I had no budjet limitations 😅

550 has a Euro ECU and USA ecu separately on the website. Make sure you order the EURO version and it will work.
Great video. Just ordered the velocity stack. Do you see any reason why you couldn’t cut the snorkel in place without removing it, or the airbox, and shoving the new velocity stack in from inside the airbox or do you think too much force is required to get the stack in?
Now that I know it works maybe it would be possible. Hard to cut in place though 🤔
Hi!

Looking forward to your answer.

Db killer is installed. It doesnt really do much though 🤓 Its a loud exhaust for sure. Earplugs necessary.

The sound doesn't bother me, but out of curiosity, does Dominator provide an option for db-killer?
Unfortunately no.
Big bore would probably be nuts and hella fun though 😁
We didnt' really chat about the trumpet afterwards but they watched the video and feedback was positive 😅
@@PatchedBandit so your still impressed with just the Stage 1. I just don’t want to keep sending my ECU to America, so thought I’d go full bore! Stage 4 off the bat.

I’ll keep watching you for updates and progress, your work in documenting the speed differences should be commended.

I don't plan to swap the filter now. I just put in a fresh stock paper. If I ride a lot in groups the twin air would be nice but for now It's ok with the stock one.
Hi @patchedbandit, do you think removing the backfire screen from oem filter will make a difference?
Worth doing if sticking with oem filter?
I would be very surprised if that would affect the performance much if at all. I went from 16 seconds to 11 seconds doing 30-120kph with the tune already.
I might test an aftermarker "high flow" filter later if I can find a good one for it but so far I don't feel that the bike is starving for air.
@PatchedBandit Thanks for responding 👍 I'm looking forward to the aftermarket airfilter test as everybody seems to include the twin air filter change when upgrading the ecu, and 550 Performance also recommends.

The dyno chart is wheel HP. Not what the manufacturer papers say. CRF300L has always had the same stock HP. There is no upgrades to the engine so far.
Any ideas if that edge of the metaltube will generate turbulence?
Well this is what the part is manufactured to do (velocity stack) and the stock pipe has a smaller lip…

Im gonna buy 300L do you recomend Rally or standard L? 80%onroad 20%ofroad
@@PatchedBandit Thank you so much 👍 so If they would cost the
Same you should choose the rally?
Please check my CRF playlist here: th-cam.com/play/PLjuLZY6TnpPnQWrKL7vgN6eCmeAY5Ea4Z.html
makes me consider a ktm350. is it really worth all this plus suspension to make the bike not feel like a slug

You should use some Uni-Filter Air Box Vents / Filters UFV-6
They don't fit well under the plastics of the CRF. There is a good video sample of this on YT and they also let water through easier than the frogskin.
I might try and modify a prefilter slot on top or under the frogskin later as I would like to use prefilters to extend the life of the main filter or use a high flow main filter with less effective filtering.
No they dont lol, You fit them in the Air box door/cover as they sit flush to the cover, been using them for 20 plus years in all my overland and mx/enduro bikes
Im gonna check them out for sure

Another great and inspiring vid! Out of funds after the Rally Raid convertion . BTW this really transformed the bike.
Yeah, Yoshi are expensive and all but Arrow (also expensive, but EU aprroved) are illegal here in Norway. Yes they are pulling bikes over here and giving fines 😞
That's bad. Yes I understood that arrow sells a fully approved setup with a cat but .. it might be pretty restricting like the stock pipe.
This setup might not be great for commuting in town but I tend to mostly ride this offroad.
I've been really happy with the full Akropovic system on my bike.
Still agree that suspension is the 1st mod. No point in more power if the bike doesnt handle :-)
@@no66 I installed the Twin Air a/f kit and Akropovic full system before I even rode the bike. On my first dual sport ride last weekend (170 miles) the power wasn't what was lacking!

@@PatchedBandit ... Thank you for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it. If in a year, your engine blows a piston. Who pays the bill? I've heard it happen 😔
No you haven’t.
So far It's been much more reliable than any of the KTMs ive owned, particularly the 790 adv.
hahaha 28:00
That's not loud straight pipe it that's loud
Nice video but too loud for my taste.
Dominators are loud. Many alternatives available though. Arrow or Yoshi would most likely produce the same performance.
Motorrad in Deutsch 😢
?
Just get a KTM instead.
- Uncomfortable
- Vibrations
- Service intervals
- Reliability
And if you talk about 690 too heavy. You can't compare this CRF build directly to any KTM model and say KTM is better in all aspects. Plus it's fun to mod bikes so....
@@PatchedBandit Meh, you all know better then Honda et all...lol
It sounds horrible !
Honda CRF300: Yoshimura RS-4 VS Dominator MX2 Exhaust Battle
th-cam.com/video/qx3fHd6g3Qk/w-d-xo.html
These are popular bikes around the world. Thus you have a massive aftermarket pimping endless parts to "enhance" your CRF. Oh, what do those pesky fluid dynamics engineers at Honda know about airboxes? Time to lash on an opened airbox so the bike can breathe "better." OK, git 'er dun, Jethro!
The same engineer needs to conform to euro 4 and 5 requlations and cant make the bike as good as it can be.
This is now as good as it can. 5 seconds off the 30-120 time thank ya very much 😎
18.5% power increase after all that money spent- so what is it now- 28hp? My old TTR 250R and CRM 250 could do better than that!
@nhardy2480 This bike is so much better in other ways. Big ones being comfort, reliability, long service intervals. If power was the only factor I would have a 350 exc from ktm.
Thats like saying they should not even sell the CRF300 because there are more powerful options.
