Actually, let's expand it into "Trial by video games". It will be a massive video game tournament containing many different games. There will be Mario Kart, Smash, Battlezone '98 (Hover tank combat in space!), Counter Strike, Mario Party (YAY RNG!), Puyo Puyo Tetris, and anything else that I can't think of at this very moment.

I spent a lot of time in hospitals when I was younger. Mario Kart was the highlight of that time, id play with the other kids on the portable systems in our rooms or the waiting room, first and only Nintendo game I've ever played but one of my favorites none the less!

I keep rewatching Jakey's videos and finding connections to his music- like at 1:47 which reminded me of Fat Head. Just goes to show how much of a personal touch his music has
I am not one to comment on videos...ever...this is probably the first comment I leave, but Jakey your content is great your videos take me back to when I was first introduced to these games, your personality legit resembles so much of my older cousin who would also destroy me in Mario Kart, Smash Bros and in Halo Combat Evolved when I was a baby shit. If it weren’t for him I probably would’ve never been introduced to these amazing games that made my childhood.

after christmas this last year, me and a few friends got switches, and there’s a tradition where on fridays or random days, i had us all bring 3ds’ to play mario kart and i remember a bunch of people got into it and it was great- so when we got the switches, our group and a dorky group of guys had a huge showdown in mario kart and smash. i can honestly say that nintendo’s mario kart and smash and a few others are the most memorable in my past to bringing a lot of people together, and in high school, being able to still play it on a switch for everyone (including the kids who’ve never played games who wanted to join us) has really made my year and has been absolutely fun.

I remember really bonding with my sister when we played Double Dash. I remember the day fondly when we did the all tour cup on Co-Op mode.

I have a group of friends that are heavily invested in competitive games (MOBAs, FPSs, Fighting Games, you get it). I have another group that mostly only knows Super Mario World, Guitar Hero and FIFA. I have another group that doesn't really play any videogames. I myself mostly play single-player games.
But if there's Mario Kart, none of that matters. It's that gooooooood.
Battle mode, arena 4, snes version. Amazing memories.
My friends and I created special rules to make the game flow. If anyone got a ghost they had to use it straightaway, otherwise it became a standoff. The person without an item would avoid picking anything up for evermore while the ghost wielder followed them around.

Sometimes, as I play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe alone, trying to grind for all of the 3 star gold trophies, I forget that Mario kart is a game meant to have fun. I wish I had siblings growing up that actually played games with me, but they had no interest.(I also low key fear that might be cause I was competitive and unfun to play with). Thank you Jakey for reminding the true meaning of not only MarioKart, but also Nintendo games

On mother's day weekend I went to visit my parents and brought my Wii and Double Dash and insisted we play at least one game. My parents, especially my mom, aren't really that into video games anymore, but they agreed to play. Moments later we were all laughing and having such a great time. My mom could hardly figure out how to play but it was so fun we played all the tracks. She said it was the most fun she'd had in a long time. That felt nice to hear.
Mario Kart is just the best, and absolutely one of my favorite franchises! My family would play it for hours together, and it was just the best!

I remember when my mom and i lived with my grandmother, my three cousins also lived with her, so we would always be together despite the extreme age difference. When it was bedtime, we would all creep towards the center of the house (two upstairs, two downstairs) and hide in the shadows, hoping we wouldnt get caught, still talking on pictochat, making up pictochat games, or just drawing on our new DS’s. It’s a very fond memory.
We would also gather around a gamecube and play Mario Party 5/6, Mario Kart DoubleDash, and Animal Crossing together.

I remember back in drama class, one group of kids got "NASCAR" for their improv scene. They immediately started "throwing" shells and bananas. I think that says it all. Mario kart is just a game that everyone can love.
I feel like I should let you know that several systems and upgrades later, we *still* busted out the same Mario Kart for long bus rides. I was class of '16 and one of the highlights of the band bus was everyone bringing their DS (usually a 3DS) so that one kid who had mario kart could bestow it's magical powers upon us. Aside from one year when we made an honest to God blanket fort for a two hour ride, those mario kart games were some of my favorite memories from those trips.
