    Part 2: Eyelet procedure: • How I Rebuild & Overha...
    Parts 3 and 4 are coming.
    How do you repair a blown out Fox RP23 ? First thing's first. Find a solid suspension shop that can handle it. This came off a bike where this shock recently only had an airsleeve service. If a shop gets on your shock for an airsleeve service and doesn't catch a blown damper, they have no business replacing air seals. Let's face it.
    To shops, start hiring at least one qualified mechanic/technician and pay them a livable wage. They will likely not be high schoolers.
    You will need the Fox shaft clamp adapter for your vice. This costs about 100$ and is money well spent.
    Do not attempt anything shown in this video.
    You could get DAMAGED! Leave it to your suspension mechanic or send it out.

    I just bought a bike with one of these shocks. It's creeky and leaky. I'm looking forward to the rest of your series of videos on this rebuild!

      Thanks for checking out the content here. I'm sorry I haven't gotten the rest of the videos done. I've been so incredibly busy and feel badly this has slipped. Please hang in there while I get thru this time and can get some more content done. - Eric

    my bike is a 2013 model and it's just stock at home because my rear suspension is no longer loaded with air. what is the possible reason and what needs to be done to fix my rear suspension. Thank you, I hope you can help me with my problem. my suspension is fox rp23 boost valve. 160

      Oh man, when the air seals go out they need to be replaced. They just won’t hold air. Replace the air seals. I might have a video on it. The RP23 uses the same air seals kit as todays DPS. Easy to get the parts. But if you hear sloshing in there that is a damper problem.

      If you’re in the USA you could send it to me if you’re unsure how to do the work.

    Do you have the ifp depth?

    • @insightbike
      @insightbike  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      IFP depths vary depeding on length and stroke of each shock. unfortunately they're not easily found. I don't have a list or anything. I have to make measurements and figure it out each time.

    Love the video. Appreciate you putting this out. I was wondering if you may be able to help me.
    I screwed up and while rebuilding my float shock, my rather large clumsy dog, ran around the corner and knocked my table over, which in turn knocked everything off the table. So my shim stack went everywhere. I did take a video of the boostvalve area all together. It was still all together when it fell over. So I don’t have any idea of the order they go. I’ve tried fox and other places, and either they didn’t know, fox for ex. Or just would not tell me. I’ve looked all over the web for images specific to my shock tune. But have not been able to find anything. Also, my local bike shops I’ve called don’t even mess with rebuilding shocks. You seem very knowledgeable and was wondering if you know where I could look to find the order of the shims.
    The shock is a fox float RP23 boostvalve with rebound XL. velocity L and boostvalve 150. Thx you.

      That's sad news. Fox isn't super great at helping or supporting their old products. Can you reach out to me from my website? check out insightbike.com and lets see if we can get this figured out.
      Thanks for checking out the video. I've got more coming but I just haven't had time to do more.

    Thank you. Do you think this is worth it?

    • @insightbike
      @insightbike  ปีที่แล้ว

      some riders will keep these older bikes for a long time. And finding a new shock to fit often doesn't yield any results. So this rebuild is worth it for some. Many of us won't be riding the bike we're on in 5 years so we won't run into this. Thanks for checking it out.
