    Suggest pulling a rag or cloth through the lower eyelet as a safety precaution should there be pressure trapped in the negative chamber. This will prevent the aircan shooting off and potentially causing injury.

    The be careful with the strap wrench part is because you can distort the shock body with to much pressure.

    Spraying isopropanol into the air wastes it, and runs you out sooner than spraying it onto a rag and then wiping with the damp rag.

    For the negative air chamber, I thought you had to partially inflate the shock and cycle it through it's travel, before then fully inflating. Or is that Rock Shox only?

    Many other videos say to put 2 cc's of float fluid into the air can before sealing? This is incorrect?

    • @BristolPost

      The Silverfish video uses about half the pillow for lubing the parts and filling the positive and negative air chambers. The tiny amount of fluid in this video seems inadequate given the amount of fluid in the pillow.

    • @johncarrington8612
      @johncarrington8612 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some cans, rockshox, need oil in both sides some cans need it on only 1 side, fox, and the amount varies depending on the shock. Most newer fox shocks want you to cycle the shock after each addition of about 50 psi so fill those with air after install on the bike.

      I felt the same way. Stopped replacing seals and just oil and adding seal grease. On my fork the seal started to disengrate after about 18 months. You can get a lot of wear but pay attention cause when they go they go fast.

    Truman, Fox calls for 2 cc of float fluid why are you instructing viewers to only add 1 drop?

    • @parktool
      @parktool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is how I have learned it from multiple Fox technicians. They say 2cc is overkill.

  • @markusw2370
    @markusw2370 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually Fox says to add 2cc of float fluid into the air chamber.

      @@parktool Maybe it depends on the model you are using, because i only checked the service procedure for the Fox Float DPS. It looks like you had a Fox Float CTD and for this model there are two service procedures, one for the CTD Boost Valve and one for the CTD Dish. In one of them they add 2cc and in the other one they don't, so yeah i don't know anymore.
      But irregardless 2 cc is still not a lot of float fluid 😂.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the appropriate amount for the shock we are servicing.

  • @SAFETYDR
    @SAFETYDR 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Please reconsider the safety associated with this. Assuming this is truly 100% isopropanol, the spraying to clean is equivalent to spraying gasoline in your shop. Your shop is not rated for flammable atmosphere. Further, the fine mist is an inhalation hazard. I know this is well-intentioned. But, there a number of hazards around the shop that we all too often ignore. For toxicity, flammability and, in other cases, corrosivity and reactivity (linseed oil, for example), we as mechanics need to respect the risk we put ourselves and our shop into.

    • @mattgies
      @mattgies 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any concentration of isopropanol that's commonly used is inflammable. My inference is that Park respects our intelligence enough to assume that we're aware when we're atomizing flammable liquids.
