don''t pass all the fish up out there man...wish i could afford a new one.. SWEET Ride you have there ... I have an old 1986 Forrest Wood Ranger Signature Edition with the two stroke 115 that I rebuilt myself, and in the process of restoring the boat...but the info was great...good to see ya,, keep up the videos..
Nice Video..Been looking at upgrading to one of these for next season. Currently have a 225EFI (03) on a Z520c (15). You mentioned the MPG were about the same as your 225. I was hoping for better with a 4 stroke.
Hey Ken, wanted to add, couldnt find any where how to install or remove that SSR HD hub kit sir. GlaD you showed us how Ken. I know most say to press by a shop. Thanks AGain.
Hi Ken.... I am purchasing a 4 blade as my second prop..... and also purchasing a new hub kit as a spair..... Is it hard to press in the new hub ( Flo Torq HD hub kit - like shown in your video)....???? There is really no information on TH-cam about this........ Your video is the only one I can find about changing / replacing a hub kit on a Mercusry Pro XS 4 stroke........ Thanks
I just bought a 2022 Caymas CX20 boat with a Mercury 250XS 4 stroke. I'm picking it up from the dealer in Springfield Mo. in a couple weeks. I plan on some fishing in Texas where I'm guessing a 3 blade 23" or 24" pitch would be good. I also plan on fishing in New Mexico (4000 ft. to 7000 ft. elevation). I'm looking for a second prop, and assuming I will want a much smaller pitch for high altitude. Do you have any recommendations or know of web sites with charts? Thanks for the great Bass Boat Search videos, watched them all multiple times in my boat search!
No such a thing to my knowledge as charts. I think you should start with the 23p 3 blade Fury. You can probably turn the 24 when it's warmer, but the 23 will be a good summer prop. I did a video with Nick from Mercury Racing (he's their prop guru) and I think he said you drop an inch of pitch for every 2000-3000 feet of elevation.
@@KenSmithFishing Thank you for the reply. I picked up the boat a couple of weeks ago. It came with a 24" pitch 3 blade Fury. We took the boat out on Lake Ray Roberts in Texas for several days, seemed to perform good, but I didn't really push it either. I'm hoping to put on the water at high altitude in a couple weeks and at least get a baseline with the 24p, knowing I will likely need to go down in pitch.
@@KenSmithFishing I've had the bolts on my 10' set come loose and noticed it almost slapping my motor going down the lake. Scared me to death. Thought I was fixing to tear up everything.
@@KenSmithFishing you know rule of thumb is when running a 24p 3 blade and want to go 4 blade you drop down to a 22 or 23p. That's what we went by for the last 40 years. Sorry bout that it just hit that was aluminum to ss. Aluminum flexes way more stainless steel does. Haha carry on.
Nice video. Too bad nobody else but Johnny Morris and Ranger boats and some other boat manufacturers are the only ones who have access to these great motors. Some of the biggest Merc dealers (600 + motor sales per year) can’t get delivery of the Pro XS 250 for a YEAR! They had 60 or more on order for 9+ months. I want to remotor my Champion 201. Whoever is managing this aspect of production and sales at Merc (probably some Ivy League puke) needs to be fired. New production year starts in July. Small business dealers are losing money and sales. Get with the program Merc and make our motors, PLEASE!!
You’ve got an issue, is the boat brand new, email me at kensmithfishing@outlook.com, several of us have had a minor issue that’s an easy fix, I ran 71 yesterday afternoon with a badly dinged up prop
@@KenSmithFishing Will that SSR HD hub kit fit in all fury or tempest props, i have older 24 fury and 24 tempest plus props off my older 08 Triton. This 2020 Caymas boat came with the fury and SSR HD hub kits, Older Triton with 250poxs had older hub kits.
Hi Ken just have a 225 pro xs v8 on a legend 199 still testing different props & pad heights 26 pitch 5850rpm top end the front of the boat starts to dance around on the chimes does yours do this
Hey Greg it doesn’t, a buddy that races boats tells me that most chine issues are over trimming a motor, so you are putting down pressure as opposed to forward pressure. Might play with lowering trim and lifting jack plate a smidge and see if that helps.
No idiot adds extra drag on ANY boat for maximum speed......another propeller blade?....DUH??...run the numbers on mid range economy (which is where everyone who owns a boat runs the engine..) 4 blade will win every time. Get's the hull out of the water faster, and drinks a LOT less
You should drop pitch on the 4 blade... it’ll turn up where it should be 5900+

You need to wear eye protection with striking to harden metal objects together. Very important to saving your eyes.

Ken did you ever run the 25p? And did you ever find out about the timing/tuning adjustments?
Bart I can only turn the 25 about 5700 and 65 mph, didn't check on any timing issues?

Hey Ken, will that SSR HD hub kit fit in a older fury or tempest plus props? The ones off my 2008 proxs motor.
I would think so

Mercury racing bravo 1xs and pro max props would be good ones to try.
Ken did you try a 23 p 4 blade fury if so stats
Ken check the bolts and nuts on your left pole. It looks loose.

If you run 24p 4 blade you should go up to 26p 3 blade
Won’t turn it

@@kenmullins8176 no worries, i am very open to input!
I would urge al to simply order a hub with your new prop. No need ot mess around with hubs during a simple test.

Yes....I wear a fashion forward scarf.... :)
Good instruction on changing props. That could help somebody.
